Um das Verhältnis zwischen Migration und Gesellschaft neu denken zu können, kehren die Herausgeber etablierte Gewissheiten um und beziehen die Erfahrung von Migration mit ein. Ihr Fokus richtet sich auf geteilte Geschichten, aus denen sich die Vielheit des urbanen Zusammenlebens erschließt. Migration wird so zum Ausgangspunkt weiterer gesellschaftlicher Analysen gemacht. Postmigrantische Visionen fungieren als Analysekategorien für soziale Situationen von Mobilität und Diversität, machen Mehrdeutigkeit und marginalisierte Erinnerungen sichtbar, die zentrale gesellschaftliche Verhältnisse artikulieren. Kontrapunktische Ideen werden ins Blickfeld gerückt, ohne jedoch Dominanzverhältnisse und strukturelle Barrieren zu übersehen.

Durch Migration entstehen vielfältige Formen der Mobilität, die verschiedene Orte, Lebensweisen und Visionen miteinander verbinden. Menschen, die migrieren, schaffen Räume, die sich sowohl von denen unterscheiden, die sie verlassen haben, als auch von jenen, die neu bezogen wurden. So werden Strukturen, Kulturen und Kommunikationsformen erschaffen, die ohne Impulse durch Migration kaum denkbar wären. Die Lebenspraxis zeigt, dass Menschen mehrere Heimaten und Zugehörigkeiten haben, diverse kulturelle und soziale Netzwerke schaffen können und dass sie mit negativen Zuschreibungen von außen kreativ und subversiv umzugehen wissen. Auf diese Weise entwickeln sich postmigrantische, mehrheimische, hybride und transkulturelle Alltagspraktiken, die bisher kaum gewürdigt worden sind. Die Beiträge dieses Bandes verstehen sich daher als Plädoyer für eine andere Sicht der Dinge und als Absage an das vorauseilende Misstrauen, mit dem migrationsbedingten Phänomenen häufig begegnet wird.

Der Beitrag nimmt die "Corona-Pandemie" zum Anlass, um sich mit der Paradoxie von Solidarität mit "den einen" und Entsolidarisierung mit "den anderen" zu befassen. Während Appelle der Parteienpolitik an die Solidarität der Bürger:innen in einzelnen Nationalstaaten zu fluiden Solidaritätsbekundungen vor Ort führen, schottet die Europäische Union (EU) ihre Außengrenzen mehr und mehr ab und setzt geflüchtete Menschen prekären Lebenslagen an Europas Rändern aus.

"A token of our time is the 'opening of places to the world.' Migration movements have significantly contributed to this phenomenon. This is evident in particular in urban everyday life. Urban development and urbanity are today scarcely conceivable without migration. Nonetheless, this fact appears to be but weakly anchored in public consciousness. Negative attributions continue to stamp discourse on migration. Migrants are labeled as aliens and criticized for being resistant to Integration. This paper reverses the perspective, discussing the relevance of migration-linked diversity in the urban context as exemplified in everyday life in Cologne. Der Beitrag thematisiert die Diskrepanzen zwischen dem Alltag und der vom hegemonialen Diskurs bestimmten kommunalen Praxis. Am Beispiel von St. Ruprecht/Klagenfurt wird gezeigt, wie sich die Lebenswirklichkeit des Stadtteils aus verschiedenen persönlichen Netzwerken und Milieus, die durch gewachsene Mobilität geografischer und mentaler Art immer wieder neu interpretiert und kombiniert werden, zusammensetzt. Es lässt sich aber auch beobachten, wie die nationalen Inszenierungen auf der politischen und medialen Bühne Kärntens an der urbanen Alltagsrealität vorbei gehen - und das trotz der durch die Osterweiterung der EU gewonnenen Mittlerstellung. This introductory essay outlines the context for this special issue of the Journal of Palestine Studies on Black-Palestinian transnational solidarity (BPTS). Through the analytic of "renewal," the authors point to the recent increase in individual and collective energies directed toward developing effective, reciprocal, and transformative political relationships within various African-descendant and Palestinian communities around the world. Drawing from the extant BPTS literature, this essay examines the prominent intellectual currents in the field and points to new methodologies and analytics that are required to move the field forward. With this essay, the authors aim not only to contextualize the field and to frame this special issue, but also to chart new directions for future intellectual and political work.
