The second issue concerns cities more directly. The realisation of a new railway station is an old project, but it is made possible, even necessary, with the arrival of the AVE. This project of a new station relies on an ambitious underground infrastructure, above which an urban park of 23ha and a business district should be created, giving the city a new centrality. Behind this project, there is a challenge for mobility at a metropolitan scale in Valencia. Valencia lays in a nodal position between this axis and the radial Spanish network. The present study will focus on the point of view of political and economic actors regarding the nature of the axis and the modalities of Valencia's insertion in the corridor. Our aim is to show how the territories are adapting to this situation. Locally, the Parque Central project, supported by the people's representatives, is devoted to passenger traffic and local interests, while economic actors are supporting rather a freight axis at a wider scale. The plurality of scales and actors will lead us to question the relationship between networks and territories in the case of Valencia's insertion into the Mediterranean railway corridor. En el contexto europeo de promoción de grandes ejes ferroviarios transnacionales, España promueve un proyecto de "corredor mediterráneo" que se extiende desde la frontera francesa hasta Algeciras, lo cual pone en tela de juicio la organización de una red que hasta ahora tenía su centro en Madrid. En aquel eje, Valencia está en posición nodal con la red radial española. International audience ; The notion of transport corridor encases numerous meanings and has led to a plentiful scientific production in varied disciplines. The analysis of this literature leads to the preparation of a theoretical framework for the assessment of case studies. This framework is based on a functional typology of corridors and on a multi-scalar perspective. Yet it should be necessary to confront these definitions of the notion of transport corridor in the scientific literature and its different variations in the institutional literature undertaking development projects. The comparative approach of two case studies, Europe and North America, enables the confrontation of the theoretical notion of corridor with practical development and planning projects in different geographical contexts. First, it establishes a comparison on a continental scale between the political planning of TENT and the economic vision of NAFTA corridors. Then a parallel is drawn on a regional scale between implementation logics of corridors in different spaces-Spain and Arizona. The purpose of this article is to question the scope and the limits of this notion in spatial planning practices by studying these case studies successively in several geographical scales. Indeed, concrete projects should be taken into account thanks to a multi-scalar approach to understand the reality of the lag between the concept, its political application and its concrete implementation in territories.
