Changes in the role of the Polish military stemming from the transformation from a totalitarian to democratic society are examined. Internal functions, eg, education, search & rescue, & aid to civil power, as well as the external function of providing for the security & territorial independence of the state, are discussed. In general, the role of the military in Poland has not changed, though the substance of its functions has. The former socialist content & values of education must give way to a new ideology of man & the state, cultivating in its members the values of the new society it is pledged to protect. Similarly, the civil power role of defending the constitution will shift toward protection of democratic values. The external function remains the same, but is made more difficult because of the democratic politics of military funding & the greater threat to Polish security from the newly emerging & unstable countries in the region. "The book presents Poland's legal and institutional response to the pandemic, analysed through the prism of common European values and Poland's international commitments. It signposts the financial solutions adopted by the EU in the aftermath of the outbreak to assess how they will be used in combatting the short and longer-term consequences of the pandemic in Poland. The book is an introduction to original research, shaped by the novelty of the subject matter, and as such, will be essential reading for students and researchers of economics, law, and international relations."

Purpose: On 1 August 2020, the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement went into force. After completing the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement's ratification, the two agreements will create the legal basis of strong economic relations between the parties. However, we argue that these agreements are an element of a broader strategy, pursuing the EU's economic and socio-political goals. Design/Methodology/Approach: The research is interdisciplinary, economic, and legal. We analyze the process of establishing the legal framework of EU-Vietnam relations and its context in the New Haven School's application schema, combining it with "rational choice." The research was conducted based on public statistics and analysis of the literature on the subject. Findings: The EU pursues a policy of "change through trade." The agreements deepen Vietnam's participation in the universal economic and social system based on the UN Charter's values. They also strengthen the institutionalization of pluralism in relations in the Asia region and institutions and countries outside the region. Practical Implications: EVFTA and EVIPA represent a new approach of the EU to trade agreements and how to influence international relations in a system where the U.S. have lost their status as the only superpower, and China seeks to become a real global superpower. Realizing this change in EU trade policy is important for all Member States and other international relations actors. Originality/Value: The paper discusses important and current issues related to EU trade and investment policies and can develop future policy scenarios. ; peer-reviewed

Motivation: The results of the referendum on the UK's membership of the EU are far-reaching, but hard to predict. One of the areas related to UK's withdrawal from the EU is whether it will maintain its integrity. The evolving structure of the UK, persistent trends of separatism in the UK, geographical differences in attitudes of UK citizens to Brexit create the background of the study.Aim: Our goal is to find out whether the effect of Brexit will be leaving the EU by whole Britain and to determine geopolitical and geo-economic consequences of Brexit. The research is an interdisciplinary economic and law study. We use economic (quantitative and qualitative) and legal methods applicable to the research of international institutions using institutional and functional approaches. Results: Brexit will be a factor of permanent disintegration of UK. Brexit changes the perception and attractiveness of European integration. Brexit will impact the transatlantic order.
