In: Contemporary security policy, Band 25, Heft 1, S. 166-178
ISSN: 1743-8764
This article begins with a brief evaluation of the evolution of the regional dynamics of South Asia as well as the evolution of deterrence in South Asia both during & after the Cold War. It then examines how these regional dynamics & deterrence have changed in the post-Cold War world, particularly since May 1998 when two new nuclear weapon states emerged in South Asia, & to what extent the events of 11 September 2001 have impacted on this change. Finally, the article explores the possible future course of regional dynamics & deterrence in South Asia. Adapted from the source document.
