; [EN] History and memory are not equivalent terms, still less when they point a past marked by exclusion and injustice. Eugenio Ímaz was one of the philosophers of the Spanish exile of 39 that greater attention devoted to criticism of fascism and his warmongers implications. On the horizon of the Spanish war, appealed in this regard to the commitment of the intellectual opposite the barbarism as a touchstone of any radical philosophical experience, outlined a modern genealogy of Nazi-fascism and identified the suicidal ideological contradictions of the liberal European democracies.

The political thought of the Spanish exile of 1939 offers, seventy years later, fruitful and current perspectives. Besides a systematic and well-known work, linked to critical Marxism, such as the one of Adolfo Sánchez Vázquez, include other expressions, fragmented and meandering character, which focuses this paper. These were, namely, the early genealogy of fascism pointed out by Eugenio Ímaz and María Zambrano using different hermeneutical keys, but overlapping in linking it to the secularizing progression of modern reason. Second, the memory of own exile to both appealed against a complacent present about the victims of his more recent past, thereby leading to a debate between history and memory impregnated of political meaning. And third, the critique of contractarian logic pointed out by Eduardo Nicol on the horizon of a global techno-scientific rationality whose political implications affected the Spanish democracy instituted after the dictatorship.

The critical meaning of the memory of victims not only finds suitable expressions in a discussion of the modern vision of history. It is also pertinent to revise political concepts, in the same way modern, as equality. From a Latin American perspective, memory questions those discourses of equality that reproduce exclusion with regard to the conquest, the Independence's revolutions and the recent transitions to democracy.

The Colombian Regeneration (1886-1900) found in the political and intellectual trajectory of Miguel A. Caro one of its main references. The present article traces a triple critical approach to its philosophical work, always marked by the rejection of liberalism and the inheritance of the Enlightement, as well as by the fidelity to an ultra-conservative Catholicism and an against revolutionary vision of politics. It is revised, firstly, Caro's foundation of knowledge, trying to reconcile certain rationalism with the subordination to the religious authority. In the second place, his conception highly confessional of the State, manifested for example in his vision of the cults and teaching freedom. Finally, his conception of the national identity, inspired on the cultural tradition of the colony and its continuity under the political processes of the emancipation, will be explored.
