This paper aims to show that changes in social-scientific approaches are needed as a way to explain and understand social protest and movements in the South American context; it also aims to point up the possibilities for getting lost in the logic of a geo-politically centred rationality. To this end, first, I will summarise the social context of different social movements and protest forms since the 60s. Second, I will present a synthesis of the theoretical perspectives on social protest and movements. Third, I will highlight some epistemological and methodological issues in studies on collective action. And finally I will explore the connection between the historical context and studies of collective action in South America today, in order to identify a current agenda for such studies.
Presents an analysis of Fenelon's critique (Refutation du systeme du P. Malebranche [Refutation of the System of P. Malebranche]) of Malebranche's Traite de la nature et de la grace (Treatise on Nature and Grace). In the first seven chapters, Fenelon shows that Malebranche destroys divine freedom, making this world the only world possible. Similar arguments showing the contingency of the world & divine liberty are traced to their post-Cartesian origins in exchanges between G. W. Leibnitz & Arnaud, as well as to the work of St. Thomas Aquinas & H. Gouhier. It is noted that Fenelon's critique stopped short of advocating an opposing form of determinism, such as in the case of Arnaud. J. Sadler
A central issue in the social sciences today is the analysis of complex society, and topics like globalization, identity and self-identity, transformation of self and collective action become more and more important in social theory. This article intends to show (a) how the diagnosis of complexity affects the constitution of the topics at the heart of social theory and (b) what its major implications are from a theoretical and epistemic standpoint. Alberto Melucci and Anthony Giddens being among the most representative social scientists in this field, I examine each one's approaches and argue that we are in the presence of an "existential turn" in social theory.
; The present article aims to make evident how love, as an interstitial practice, produces a set of collective practices and how, through a mapping of these practices, it is possible to observe the connection between the politics of sensibilities and social conflict. To reach this goal we have elaborated the following argument: a) it sketches a view of love from the social sciences, b) it is summarized what we can understand by the practices of the wanting, c) the inquiry about the selected groups is outlined, and d) some notes are presented to understand the connection between politics of sensibilities and social structuring as a final opening. The paper ends by advocating the need and urgency to continue the mapping of interstitial practices as a key task to understand the metamorphosis of the current process of social structuration. ; The aim of this paper is to present some of the many facets of the challenges that contains the XXI century for the Social Sciences. In doing so, it proposes to "play" with the idea of a table/surface and four pieces, and to take the followingpathof assembly: 1) identify the salient features of the processes of social structuring as surface of the "game"; 2) select three components of the sensitivity structures that conform a cut at the waist of the piece of the "wastelogic", "politics of perversion" and "banality of the good"; 3) separate in the composition of the figure an outline of the implications of "knowing how to touch" and the "subsiadiano"; 4) outline the "challenges" in terms of methodology, theory and epistemology of the aforementioned forms, in their role as key components of the "assembly"; and 5) finally "construct" the puzzlere-marking "what is necessary to continue rejecting". ; It shows the relationships between senses, muscles-brain and flesh as axe of the policies of the bodies-emotions; it outlines the importance of enjoyment-pleasure and cruelty as keys to understanding the capitalistic sensibilities; and argues the existence of a kind of sociology of bodies-emotions in The capital. This trailing is possible through the understanding of capitalism as religion, and the node points of the moral's politic economy. It concludes that the understanding of capitalism as a system of social relationships is only possible by giving a central place to the bodies-emotions. ; In this paper we briefly outline as possible to understand what we call neo-colonial religion as central feature of the process of expansion of capital on a global scale and the emergence of interstitial practices in both social forms that belie the truth of the regime political economy of morality. To achieve the stated objective we have selected the following strategy of argument: a) we explicit briefly some features of capitalism as religion, b) present some of the findings of our research on how to characterize the current state of capitalism, c) develop the core aspects of what we consider religion neocolonial, d) schematize interstitial practices that emerge from the description given, and e) synthetic conclude with a reference to what we consider the reasons why this issue becomes of fundamental importance to capitalism in the today. ; Fil: Scribano, Adrián Oscar. During, at least, the last two years the combined struggles aimed to elaborate and impose some policies of emotions in Argentina relied in the phrase "this government does not perform repressions" one of his more accepted and widespread discursive threads. Beyond any "evaluation" on the national administration, over the last nine years there have been a series of repressive acts linked to the figure of eviction. The eviction is an act of restitution of a previous order by taking out or pulling from one place a person or group of persons who are unable to prove ownership, possession and / or an usufruct over a land, territory, housing or "activity space?. This paper intend to show the various modes of acts of violence and forms of repression that can be observed in Argentina, using youtube videos about several acts of evictions, looking to make evident the constant pressure and repression that have existed against the indigenous peoples, youth, women and homeless people. ; Fil: Scribano, Adrián Oscar. "The Emotions in the Classics of Sociology stands as an innovative sociological research that introduces the study of emotions through a detailed examination of the theories and concepts of the classical authors of discipline. Sociology plays a crucial role emphasizing how much emotional expressions affect social dynamics, thus focusing on the ways in which subjects show (or decide to show) a specific emotional behaviour based on the social and historical context in which they act. This book focuses the attention on the individual emotions that are theorized and studied as forms of communication between subjects as well as magnifying glasses to understand the processes of change in the communities. This volume, therefore, guides the readers through an in-depth overview of the main turning points in the social theory of the classical authors of sociology highlighting the constant interaction between emotional, social and cultural elements. Thus, demonstrating how the attention of the emotional way of acting of the single subject was already present in the classics of the discipline. The book is suitable for an audience of undergraduate, postgraduate students and researchers in sociology, sociology of emotions, sociology of culture, social theory and other related fields"--
