AbstractWe examine the trade response of individuals, institutional traders, and specialists to disclosures. We investigate reactions to good versus bad news and mandatory versus discretionary announcements. We find that individuals and institutions both have heightened trade activity before disclosures. Institutional trade runs counter to the price reaction to upcoming discretionary disclosures. Institutions' post‐announcement trade is consistent with the direction of the price reaction to the announcement, whereas individuals' post‐announcement trade runs counter to the price reaction. Although specialists face increased trade pressure both before and after announcements, strong directional imbalances in specialist trade are not observed.JEL classification: G14

Do traditional distinctions between 'belief' and 'knowledge' still make sense? How are differences between knowledge and belief understood in different cultural contexts? We predict and find that regulations expected to harmonize and strengthen firms' financial reporting in the European Union (EU) in the early 2000s increase Tobin's Q ratios of firms with high agency costs due to (1) concentration of control (entrenchment) and (2) an excess of the largest shareholder's voting rights over cash flow rights. These results are consistent with stronger reporting standards enhancing firm value by mitigating incentives for controlling shareholders to expropriate minority shareholders. Increases in Tobin's Q associated with financial reporting reform are concentrated in EU firms that (1) are not cross-listed in the U.S., (2) have families as their largest shareholders, or (3) have a largest shareholder who holds 20 percent or more of the firm's cash flow rights. These results suggest that minority shareholders of firms with the most severe perceived information asymmetries are among the major beneficiaries of EU financial reporting reform.

Obwohl wir schon seit längerem in einer Zeit und Gesellschaft leben, die in bestimmten Bereichen – wie etwa der Werbung – als stark "sexualisiert" bezeichnet werden kann, spielte die wissenschaftlich-theologische Thematisierung von Sexualität als zentralem Aspekt des Menschseins lange Zeit eine eher marginale Rolle. Zumeist wurden und werden einzelne ethisch-moraltheologische Aspekte, wie Fragen der Reproduktionsmedizin, überkommene und neue Konzepte von Ehe und Partnerschaft oder das Zusammenleben in Familien diskutiert. In den letzten Jahren hat, aufgerüttelt durch immer zahlreichere an die Öffentlichkeit gelangende Missbrauchsfälle, eine verstärkte wissenschaftliche Aufarbeitung von sexuellem und geistlichem Missbrauch eingesetzt. Aber die Auseinandersetzung mit einer positiven theologischen Sichtweise von Sexualität wurde dadurch nicht gefördert.Das vorliegende Jahrbuch möchte einen umfangreichen, durch verschiedene theologische Fachrichtungen verlaufenden Beitrag zum Diskurs leisten. Beginnend mit exemplarischen Darstellungen zentraler biblischer Aspekte und Texte sowie der Rolle von Sexualität in ausgewählten Schriften des klassischen Judentums, greift der Band historische Weichenstellungen, wie etwa die Asketisierung des Klerus im 4. und 5. Jahrhundert, die Begründung des Pflichtzölibats oder die Rolle der Sexualität in und für die Ehe im späten Mittelalter und bei Martin Luther auf. Aktuelle Themenfelder aus dem Bereich der sexuellen Vielfalt, der Sexualisierung des Alltags in westlichen Kulturen im Spiegel der Medien und der hermeneutischen Frage nach Sexualität und Macht runden den Band ab.
