Članek predstavi življenjsko zgodbo slovenske emigrantke dr. Branislave Sušnik in oceni njeno znanstvenoraziskovalno delo na področju zgodovinske antropologije, etnografije, etnolingvistike in muzeologije Paragvaja. Izpostavi pomembnost njenih raziskav na področju amerikanistike in odmevnost njenega dela v paragvajski družbi. Opozori tudi na nekorekten odnos slovenske stroke do njenih znanstvenih dosežkov. Slovenska etnologija in kulturna antropologija do zdaj nista uspeli ovrednotiti njenega znanstvenega dela. V zaključku članek zato predlaga strokovno in osebno pripoznanje dr. Sušnikove, prevode njenih ključnih del in njihovo vključitev v dediščino slovenskih znanstvenih dosežkov.

In ethnology and anthropology, the term tradition usually denotes transmission over time and continuity of phenomena, while recent views also highlight other aspects. Because of disappearance of "typical" cultural phenomena it became a value. Since it has connected people on many levels, it can be perceived as a means of identity politics. At the same time it becomes a strategy to strengthen a sense of belonging and achieve diverse goals. These aspects are presented with some empirical examples. *** V etnologiji in antropologiji izraz tradicija navadno označuje prenašanje kulture skoz čas in kontinuiteto kulturnih pojavov, medtem ko novejši pogledi poudarjajo tudi druge vidike. Zaradi izginjanja »značilnih« kulturnih fenomenov je postala vrednota. Ker povezuje ljudi na mnogih ravneh, jo razumemo kot sredstvo identitetne politike. Hkrati postaja tudi strategija za krepitev občutkov pripadnosti in za dosego drugih ciljev. Ti vidiki so vzorčno predstavljeni z empiričnimi zgledi.

U tekstu se posmatraju nacija, nacionalna država i nacionalizam sa simvoličkog stanovišta, umesto sa političkog, pravnog ili sociološkog, kao što je to uobičajeno. Simvoli sačinjavaju tkivo kulture, a to znači da naciju posmatramo kao činjenicu kulture, simvoličku zajednicu. Po tradiciji, etnologija i antropologija proučavaju simvole, tj. kulturu, ali i fenomen naroda, koji se uobičajeno smatra za prethodni stupanj u razvitku nacije. Dok je narod institucionalno nekoherentna zajednica, dotle se nacija odlikuje visokim stepenom društvene artikulacije. Takođe, nacija je simvolička zajednica koja se prostire kroz sve svetove u kojima čovek postoji kao ličnost, zbog čega se odlikuje svojevrsnom antropomorfnom strukturom. Nacija je ljudima donela značajna unapređenja u pojimanju i korišćenju sebe i sveta, naročito svojim konceptom demokratije u kome su optimalno objedinjeni zahtevi za slobodom pojedinca i snagom zajednice.

U ovome broju časopisa Etnološka tribina objavljujemo temat koji problematizira turizam – njegove aktere, politike i procese – kako one koji oblikuju i usmjeravaju turizam tako i one koje turizam stvara i pokreće. Radovi u tematu bave se različitim vizijama i strategijama turističkog razvoja (Antonio Miguel Nogués-Pedregal, Raúl Travé-Molero i Daniel Carmona-Zubiri); primjenom načela stvaranja doživljaja u suvremenim muzejskim postavima (Daniela Angelina Jelinčić i Matea Senkić); vezom tradicijske prehrane, okusa i nostalgije u istarskim agroturizmima (Tanja Kocković Zaborski); oblikovanjem memorijalnih mjesta bitki na Soči u Prvom svjetskom ratu i posjetima tim lokalitetima u međuratnom razdoblju (Petra Kavrečič); okolišnim, društvenim i političko-ekonomskim procesima koji utječu na baštinu i turizam na Zlarinu i u Trenti (Peter Simonič); životom Danice Brössler u Dubrovniku kao primjerom turističkih aktivnosti pojedinaca (Tihana Petrović Leš). ; The thematic section of this year's issue of Etnološka tribina problematises tourism and its actors, politics and processes – both those which shape and direct tourism, and those which are created and sparked by tourism. The articles deal with different visions and strategies of tourist development (Antonio Miguel Nogués-Pedregal, Raúl Travé-Molero and Daniel Carmona-Zubiri); the application of the principles of experience creation in contemporary museum displays (Daniela Angelina Jelinčić and Matea Senkić); the relationships between traditional food, tastes and nostalgia in Istrian agrotourism (Tanja Kocković Zaborski); the construction of the memorial sites of the Soča front in WWI and visits to those sites in the interwar period (Petra Kavrečič); environmental, social and political-economic processes which influence heritage and tourism on Zlarin Island and in the Trenta Valley (Peter Simonič); and the life of Danica Brössler in Dubrovnik as an example of an individual's tourist activities (Tihana Petrović Leš).

During the 19th and 20th centuries, European countries based their language policies on the principle lingua instrumentum regni ("language is the instrument of political control"), born with the French Revolution. As a direct consequence, the numerous local languages and dialects spoken in Europe have considerably lost ground in favour of national languages. However, in the last few decades the approach to linguistic diversity has changed contextually to the strengthening of the globalised dimension of society, so that nowadays states recognise regional and minority languages in addition to the national ones. But dialects are not legally recognised nor are regarded as languages. I deal with the Cremonese dialect, analyse briefly linguistic studies and literature, and conclude by advancing a proposal for its safeguard. As any other idiom, Cremonese dialect should be preserved for reasons of linguistic rights and cultural diversity. ; XIX ir XX amžiuose Europos šalių kalbų politika kilo iš lingua instrumentum regni ("kalba – politinės kontrolės instrumentas") principo, kuriuo vadovautasi Prancūzijos revoliucijos laikotarpiu. Dėl šios priežasties daugybės vietinių kalbų ir dialektų, paplitusių Europoje, pozicijos labai sumenko ir užleido vietą nacionalinėms kalboms. Tačiau pastaraisiais dešimtmečiais, susidarius naujam kontekstui ir formuojant stiprią globalią visuomenės dimensiją, požiūris į lingvistinę įvairovę pasikeitė, valstybės dabar jau pripažįsta šalia valstybinės kalbos gyvuojančias regionines ir mažumų kalbas. Tačiau dialektų teisiškai vis dar nepripažįstama ir jie nelaikomi kalbomis. Aš rašau apie Kremonos dialektą, trumpai analizuoju lingvistinius tyrimus ir literatūrą ir pabaigoje pateikiu rekomendacijas, kaip išsaugoti dialektą. Kaip ir kiekvienas kitas savitumas, Kremonos dialektas turi lingvistinę ir kultūrinę teisę būti išsaugotas.

Contemporary Georgian Literature offers interesting interpretations of the terms "Caucasus" and "Caucasian," but the discussion about this problem was started much earlier, in the beginning of 19th century, when the livening up of the ethnical concepts of "Caucasus" and "Caucasian" was witnessed in Georgian literature and public thinking. The historical shift of Georgia into the new epoch of colonialism, which can alternatively be called "The Epoch of Russian Colonialism", caused the accentuation of the above mentioned concepts. Russia used the privilege of the orthodox country, confronted Georgians with non- Christian people of the Caucasus and deprived them from their political independence. The reaction of Georgians towards Russian colonialism was characterized by double standards, which were clearly reflected in Georgian literature of the period of Romanticism, first of all, in relation to the interpretation of the concepts "Caucasus" and "Caucasian." The genuine goal of the colonial policy and their social strategies were pointed out clearly in the 1850–60s. The Georgians' response to colonialism was modified and the previous ambivalent status was replaced by the radical confrontation: the main goal became the idea of the peaceful Caucasus on the condition of protection of national identities. The problem became rather different and more complicated in 20th century Georgian literature, when the relation towards the ethnical problem was newly established within the frame of Soviet ideology and offered the different, non-ethnical interpretation of the terms "Caucasus" and "Caucasian": the national boarders were ignored and integrated within the model of Homo Sovieticus. Later, when the Soviet regime was destroyed, the terms "the Caucasus" and "Caucasian" caused the establishment of a new type of discourse, which determined the new interpretational standard of Georgian literature of the end of 20th century and the beginning of 21st century. ; Nūdienos Gruzijos literatūroje aptinkame įdomius sąvokų "Kaukazas" ir "kaukazietis" aiškinimus, bet diskusija dėl šių sąvokų prasidėjo daug anksčiau, XIX a. pradžioje, kai sąvokų "Kaukazas" ir "kaukazietis" vartosena labai padažnėjo Gruzijos literatūroje ir visuomenės gyvenime. Prasidėjęs naujas istorinis Gruzijos gyvavimo laikotarpis – vadinamoji "rusiškojo kolonializmo epocha", užaštrino minėtų sąvokų reikšmę. Rusija pasinaudojo ortodoksinės šalies padėtimi ir supriešino gruzinus su nekrikščioniškomis Kaukazo tautomis bei atėmė iš jų politinę nepriklausomybę. Gruzinų atsakas į rusiškąjį kolonializmą buvo dvigubi standartai, kas aiškiai atsispindėjo romantizmo laikotarpio Gruzijos literatūroje, ir visų pirma tai rodė sąvokų "Kaukazas" ir "kaukazietis" interpretavimas. Tikrasis kolonijinės politikos ir jos socialinių strategijų tikslas išryškėjo 1850–1860-aisiais. Gruzinų reakcija į kolonializmą pasikeitė ir ankstesnį ambivalentiškumą išstūmė radikalus konfrontavimas: pagrindiniu tikslu tapo taikaus Kaukazo išsaugojimas paliekant nacionalines tapatybes. Problema labai pakito ir dar labiau susikomplikavo XX a. Gruzijos literatūroje, kai į etinius aspektus imta žiūrėti per naujai įsigalėjusią sovietinę ideologiją ir radosi naujas neetinis sąvokų "Kaukazas" ir "kaukazietis" interpretavimas: tautų ribas imta ignoruoti ir visus imta integruoti į homo sovieticus modelį. Vėliau, sugriovus sovietinį režimą, sąvokos "Kaukazas" ir "kaukazietis" suponavo naują diskursą, kuris iškėlė naują XX a. pabaigos ir XXI a. pradžios Gruzijos literatūros interpretavimo standartą.

Balkan history has been presented, in gender terms, as a history of oppressed women, stark patriarchy and male domination. This narrative has rarely been questioned, its echoes still lingering in the corridors of those disci-plines that helped its creation and promotion. Being one of them, ethnology can, and should play a central role in the deconstruction of the role of women in the so-called traditional cultures, thus establishing a potential continuity between their past and their present struggles. ; Istorija Balkana nam se predstavlja, kad su rodni odnosi u pitanju, kao istorija potlačenih žena, potpune patrijarhije i muške dominacije. Ovaj narativ se retko propitivao, te i dalje odjekuje u hodnicima onih disciplina koje su pomogle nje-govom uobličavanju i promovisanju. Budući jedna od tih disciplina, etnologija može i treba da igra glavnu ulogu u dekonstrukciji shvatanja položaja žena u tzv. tradicionalnim kulturama, te da uspostavi mogući kontinuitet između prošlih i sadašnjih borbi za ženska prava.

The aim of the dissertion is to study the phenomenon of historical reenactment in Lithuania from the end of the 20th century to the beginning of the 21st century, to determine the main trajectories of the evolution of the reenactment movement, forms of expressions, factors that form the identity of reenactors, and to analyze the nature of the identity created by them. The data collected during the field research form the basis of the present work. The main data of the field research were collected in 2015–2019. The following field research methods were used: observation, questionnaire, and interview. The beginning of the phenomenon of historical reenactment in Lithuania dates back to the 20th century, to the 1990s. Kaunas Military History Club founded in 1989 became the first club of this kind in Lithuania. Taking into account the chronological distribution, the thematic directions of the clubs have been classify: 1. Baltic; 2. Medieval; 3. Napoleonic, and 4. 20th century. The phenomenon transfomed into movement. The expression of the historical reenactment movement is rather broad: festivals, camps, hikes, lectures, exhibitions, educational and entertainment programs, filming in films and series, rental of material equipment. Deep immersion in a chosen historical period forms a different – alternative – identity. The results of the research indicate that the period of prosperity of the Balts (Yotvingians, Curonian tribes), the period of formation and existence of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and the guerilla movement are exceptional topics reenacted only in Lithuania. A chosen period, activity, social character forms the value system and worldview of reenactors. ; Daktaro disertacijos tikslas – ištirti istorinės rekonstrukcijos reiškinį XX a. pab. – XXI a. pr. Lietuvoje, nustatyti pagrindines rekonstruktorių judėjimo raidos kryptis, raiškos formas, rekonstruktorių tapatumą formuojančius veiksnius bei išnagrinėti jų kuriamo tapatumo pobūdį. Darbo pagrindą sudaro lauko tyrimo duomenys rinkti 2015–2019 m. Empirinė medžiaga rinkta taikant stebėjimo, anketavimo ir interviu metodus. Istorinės rekonstrukcijos reiškinio pradžia Lietuvoje siekia XX a. 10-ąjį dešimtmetį. 1989 m. įkurtas Kauno karo istorijos klubas tapo pirmuoju tokio pobūdžio klubu Lietuvoje. Atsižvelgiant į chronologinį skirstymą, išskirtos tokios klubų tematikos kryptys: 1. Baltų; 2. Viduramžių; 3. Napoleonmečio ir 4. XX amžiaus. Reiškinys transformavosi į judėjimą. Istorinės rekonstrukcijos judėjimo raiška yra gana plati: festivaliai, stovyklos, žygiai, paskaitos, parodos, edukacinės ir pramoginės programos, filmavimasis filmuose ir serialuose, materialaus inventoriaus nuoma. Gilus pasinėrimas į pasirinktą istorinį laikmetį formuoja kitokią – alternatyvią – tapatybę. Tyrimo rezultatai parodė, kad baltų (jotvingių, kuršių genčių) klestėjimo laikotarpis, LDK kūrimosi ir gyvavimo laikotarpis bei partizaninis judėjimas yra išskirtinės, tik Lietuvoje atkuriamos temos. Historiography of swadeshi performances of Bengal, since the publication of Sumit Sarkar's seminal and voluminous work on swadeshi movement in Bengal, has followed the standard path of aesthetic definition. It has been variously described as a 'technique of mass contact' and as the harbinger of national feeling, using the standard trope of 'awakening the people to a nation'. But swadeshi jatra performances, as recorded in governmental records and collective memory, appear as a space of entertainment, a space of interaction between performers and audience, and most importantly as a space for interaction between ideas of the intellectuals, performative presentation of the idea, and its reception by the audience. The performance and reception in the space excited the audience into a frenzy of reaction, expression, hence audibility. As the folk space of performance made the hitherto unheard voices audible, a pattern of bonding based on felt sensation began to emerge in the space. The community of sensation that emerged, bonded as a nation, however, modulated the notion of nationhood in the moment of reception, adding new contours to it. This led to the development of various shades in the notion of nationhood. In this article, through an analysis of the performance of swadeshi jatra and its reception, I have tried to discover the vision of nation engendered by performances like jatra, and how precedence was set by it for the development of a nuanced national identity in the spaces of performance of South Asia. ; Po Sumito Sarkaro išsamaus veikalo apie svadeši judėjimą Bengalijoje pasirodymo svadeši vaidinimų istoriografija Bengalijoje klostėsi tradicine estetikos apibrėžimą atitinkančia linkme. Juos apibūdindavo ir kaip "masinio kontakto techniką", ir kaip tautos jausmų raišką, remiantis tradiciniu įvaizdžiu, – "žmonių pabudimą tautai". Tačiau svadeši jatra vaidinimai, kokie jie išliko apibrėžti valstybiniuose dokumentuose ir kolektyvinėje atmintyje, yra ir pramogų erdvė, erdvė, kur sąveikauja atlikėjai ir auditorija, o svarbiausia yra sąveika tarp intelektualų idėjų, idėjų perteikimo vaidinimu ir žiūrovų šių idėjų recepcijos. Atlikimo ir suvokimo erdvėje žiūrovai įsiaudrindavo, jų reakcija būdavo siautulinga. Kadangi liaudies vaidinimų erdvė suteikė iki tol negirdėtiems balsams girdimumą, šioje erdvėje ėmė formuotis vienijimosi modelis, kylantis iš bendrų jutiminių išgyvenimų. Atsiradusi pojūčių bendruomenė vienijosi kaip tauta, moduliavo tautos sąvoką ir suteikė jai naujas prasmes. Taip atsirado įvairūs tautos suvokimo atspalviai. Šiame straipsnyje tirdamas svadeši jatra atlikimą ir jo suvokimą aš mėginau įžvelgti šio reiškinio suponuotą tautos viziją ir suvokti, kaip jis suformavo precedentą tautos tapatumo niuansavimui vaidinimų erdvėse Pietų Azijoje.

Franciszek Ksawery Bohusz (1746–1820) was a philosopher, theologist, Jesuit, political activist, participant of the Kościuszko Uprising, member of the Warsaw Society of Friends of Science, honorary member of the Vilnius University, translator and publisher of the Napoleon Code, who was also the author of the thesis On the Origins of the Lithuanian Nation and Language (1808). The thesis was written in an effort to save from forgetting the traditions of the people whose language, as the author noted, gradually "diminished" and "faded" at the beginning of the nineteenth century, being crowded out by Polish which was used in various areas of everyday life. Bohusz's work turned out to be a significant voice, a testament which raised interest of many Lithuanian culture researchers. It contributed to the longterm study of the history of the Lithuanian nation and language by numerous Vilnius University professors and students. ; Kalbos archeologija. Kalba – Lietuvos istorijos liudijimas Franciszkaus Ksawero Bohuszo veikale"Apie lietuvių tautos ir kalbos pradžią" Franciszek Ksawery Bohusz (Pranciškus Ksaveras Bogušas) (1746–1820), filosofas, teologas, jėzuitas, politinis veikėjas, Kosciuškos sukilimo dalyvis, Mokslo bičiulių draugijos narys, Vilniaus universiteto garbės narys, vertėjas ir Napoleono kodekso leidėjas, taip pat šiandieną pamiršto traktato Apie lietuvių tautos ir kalbos pradžią (1808) autorius. Traktatas parašytas siekiant išsaugoti nuo užmaršties žmonių, kurių kalba, kaip pastebi autorius, XIX amžiaus pradžioje pamažu "mažėjo" ir "nyko", išstumiama įvairiose kasdienio gyvenimo srityse vartojamos lenkų kalbos, tradicijas. Bohuszo veikalas pasirodė esąs skardus balsas, liudijimas, kuriam Lietuvos kultūros tyrinėtojai neliko abejingi, prisidėjęs prie to, kad Vilniaus universiteto profesoriai ir studentai ėmėsi ilgalaikių lietuvių tautos ir kalbos istorijos studijų.

Etnološki vidik in vsebine delovanja etnologov konservatorjev so kot osrednje zadolžitve pri postopkih ohranjanja kulturne dediščine prepoznali tudi snovalci novejše mednarodne in domače varstvene zakonodaje. Že utečene in dodatne naloge etnologov konservatorjev so predstavljene in utemeljene v varstveni zakonodaji in povezane v programski model delovanja etnologov konservatorjev. Ohranitev dediščine bi morala biti predsem vzajemna odločitev in naloga nosilcev kulturnih pojavov, lastnikov in stroke ob sodelovanju vseh potrebnih deležnikov. Izbrane kulturne pojave bi morali predstaviti v preverjenih, utečenih ali inovativnih rešitvah v več različicah, kot mogoče razvojne potenciale načrtovalcem na vseh, vertikalnih in horizontalnih ravneh. *** The planners of contemporary international and domestic protection legislation have now also recognized the crucial roles of the ethnological perspective and conservator-ethnologists in processes of cultural heritage conservation. The well-established and the additional tasks of conservator-ethnologists are presented and substantiated through the protective legal framework and connected in the work programme model of conservatorethnologists. Heritage preservation should be mainly a mutual decision and obligation of agents, proprietors and experts as well as all other stakeholders. The selected cultural phenomena should be presented with the help of tried and tested, recognised or innovative solutions as possible development potential to planners at all levels, both vertical and horizontal.

Prispevek obravnava sodobne rokodelske sejme v Ljubljani in njihovo vlogo v ustvarjanju medijske in družbene podobe Ljubljane. Opiše načine, kako skupine in posamezniki, ki pripravljajo in/ali sodelujejo na sejmih, reproducirajo specifične predstave, kulturno-identifikacijske možnosti in omejitve. V tem procesu je najbrž najpomembnejši pripomoček splet oziroma spletna družabna omrežja, ki krepijo vtis razsrediščene in demokratične paradigme kraja in hkrati reproducirajo družbeno-prostorske delitve. Sejmi in reprezentacije, ki jih vključeni pripisujejo sejemskim prostorom in celotnemu mestu, poudarjajo specifične vrednote ter po prepričanju njihovih tvorcev pripomorejo k uveljavitvi Ljubljane v mednarodnem kontekstu. Prispevek nakaže, da se sejmi vključujejo v načrte mestne oblasti za »revitalizacijo« mestnega središča in ustvarjanje turistične Ljubljane, kar moramo, tako kot nastajanje obravnavanih identifikacij, razumeti v kontekstu poznega kapitalizma. *** The paper focuses on the contemporary arts and crafts fairs in Ljubljana and their role in the creation of media and social image of Ljubljana. It describes the ways in which groups and individuals involved in preparation and/or realization of the fairs, reproduce specific images as well as possibilities and limitations for cultural identification. In this process, world-wide-web and online social networks are arguably most important tools which, furthermore, contribute to the impression of a democratic association of cities. This impression is a crucial component of representation and identification, even if it serves to reproduce the hierarchal socio-spatial divisions. Arts and crafts fairs and the representations generated highlight specific values and, arguably, contribute to ever greater recognition of Ljubljana in an international context. Moreover, fairs form a part of the city authorities' plans for the "revitalization" of the city centre, which must be understood, along with the present identifications, as evolving in the context of late capitalism.

Diplomski rad ""Sve izgleda nemoguće dok se ne ostvari" - Prelog kao Europski grad sporta 2019. godine" analizira i predstavlja Prelog kao europski grad sporta u Hrvatskoj kroz prizmu nagrade (titule) koju je osvojio 2019. godine. Rad ispituje političku pozadinu Preloga kao grada sporta kroz narative petero kazivača različitog stupnja involviranosti u sport i politiku grada Preloga, propitujući pritom, ne samo stavove kazivača o Prelogu kao gradu sporta, već i intrinzična shvaćanja i razmišljanja kazivača o svrsi i važnosti sporta u svakodnevnome životu i njegovu ulogu u zajednici. Primjenjujući teorijske postavke antropologije sporta i filozofije sporta, rad produbljuje kazivanja pridodajući im i filozofsku komponentu analiziranjem stavova kazivača kroz prizmu filozofije i antropologije sporta. ; Master thesis "Everything seems impossible until it is realized" - Prelog as a European city of sports in 2019 "analyses and presents Prelog as a European city of sports in Croatia through the prism of the award (title) Prelog won in 2019. The paper examines the political background of Prelog as a city of sports through the narratives of five narrators of varying degrees of involvement in sports and politics of the city of Prelog, questioning not only the narrator's views on Prelog as a city of sports, but also the narrator's intrinsic understandings and thoughts about sport and its role in the community. Applying the theoretical assumptions of the anthropology of sport and the philosophy of sport, the paper deepens the narrations by adding a philosophical component to them by analysing the attitudes of the narrators through the prism of the philosophy and anthropology of sport.
