Pētījuma centrā ir latviešu dzejnieka Linarda Laicena (1883 — 1938) dzīve, uzskati un modernisma tendences dzejā 1910. - 1920. gados. L. Laicena sabiedriskie, politiskie un mākslinieciskie uzskati ietekmē viņa daiļrades attīstību - cīņa par sabiedrības šķiru vienlīdzību un nācijas robežu nojaukumu ir raksturīga L. Laicena daiļrades kvalitāšu īpatnība. Viņa dzejā ar liriskā varoņa ekspresiju, pilsētas tēlu, dabas un pagātnes noliegumu, dzejas formu u. c. atklājas modernisma tendences, no kurām raksturīgākā ir ekspresionisms, taču ir arī dekadences, estētisma un futūrisma iezīmes. Atslēgvārdi: Linards Laicens, modernisms, poētika, ekspresionisms, pilsētas tēls, sociālie uzskati ; The purpose of this research is to establish Latvian poet's Linards Laicens (1883 - 1938) life, view and modernistic tendency of his poetry in 1910 - 1920s. L. Laicen's social, politic and artistic views affect his creation development - fight about equality of society class and destroyed nation borders is unique qualities of L. Laicen's work. In his poetry expressionism is represented by the lyrical hero expression, character of city, denial of nature and past, form of poetry etc. reveal modernism tendency, of witch characteristic is expressionism, but also decadence, aestheticism and futurism features.
