The Salutogenic Basis for Personal Hardiness
In: Visnyk Kyïvsʹkoho Nacionalʹnoho Universytetu imeni Tarasa Ševčenka. Serija, Ukraïnoznavstvo, Heft 1(15), S. 56-60
The article analyzes the salutogenic approach in psychology, reveals the role of an individual's salutogenic attitudes to help counteract stress impact. The relationship between the constructs of salutogenesis and an individual's hardiness are analyzed. An individual's salutogenic orientation is understood by us as his/her value attitude to his/her own psychological health; and health is considered not as an absent illness, but as a state in the continuum between mental disorder and psychological well-being. The integral indicator of a valuable attitude to health is a sense of coherence as a special structure of attitudes that includes three interrelated components: comprehensibility, manageability, meaningfulness. The study purpose is to determine empirically the salutogenic factors of an individual's hardiness. The study used the following methods: C. Riff's Psychological Well-Being Scale; A. Antonovsky's sense of connectedness scale, S. Maddi's Hardiness Test; Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory; Ways of Coping questionnaire by S. Folkman and R.S. Lazarus. The study sample consisted of 183 people, 48 men and 135 women; average age was 37.7 ± 11.1 years. The correlations among the components of salutogenetic orientation, hardiness, coping strategies and time perspective were determined empirically. The resources of an individual's general resistance, which alleviate stress impact and contribute to the individual's optimal functioning, are related to understanding and assessment of a situation by the individual, existing acknowledged life goals, the ability to influence life events, one's own capabilities understood by the individual and existing positive relationships with others.

In: SWP-Studie, Band S 33
History and critique in International Law in Latin America: Revisiting past discussions on legal education in the region ; História e crítica em direito internacional na América Latina: revisitando discussões pretéritas sobre ensino jurídico na região
This contribution revisits the discussions undertaken between 1959 and 1974 during the holding of the five Conferences of Latin American Law Schools in our region. With no intention to present a comprehensive historical reconstruction of these meetings, this study aims at shedding light on past dialogues on legal education in Latin America. In a similar vein, this contribution will not discuss how effectively the recommendations reached at these meetings have changed the organization and the activities of Latin American law schools, but it will explore past interrogations on the role of law in political projects of transformation. The resumption of these discussions is important to support innovative reflections on international legal education in Latin America today because changes were proposed based on a Latin American sensibility, revealing the need to link political projects to pedagogical reform initiatives. Considering that historical studies in international law are necessarily anachronistic, as stated by Anne Orford in The past as law or history? The relevance of imperialism for modern international law, this contribution approaches the history of discussions on legal education in Latin America as a necessary effort related to the current interrogations articulated in the context of the project "Rethinking International Legal Education in Latin America" (redial).
