"Common morality has been the touchstone for addressing issues of medical ethics since the publication of Beauchamp and Childress's Principles of Biomedical Ethics in 1979. In my presentation, I will challenge that reigning view by presenting two arguments. The negative argument shows why common morality cannot be the ethics of medicine. The positive argument explains why medical professions require their own ethics. I will then explain medicine's distinctive ethics in terms of the trust that society allows to the profession. By distinguishing roles from professions, I will explicate sixteen specific duties that medical professionals undertake when they join the profession. My derivation of medicine's distinctive ethics begins with a thought experiment demonstrating that trust is at the core of medical practice. Society allows doctors to develop special knowledge and skills and allows them to employ special powers, privileges, and immunities that could be particularly dangerous to members of society. Society, therefore, has to be assured that professional's use of their remarkable powers and privileges will be constrained to their intended use. Professions' publically declared codes and oaths go a long way to engender public confidence in medical professionals. Medical education must complete the job by helping our trainees understand their professional obligations and become clinicians who uphold their profession's ethics. Medical educators therefor have to help our students comprehend and internalize their duty to "seek trust and be deserving of it," and uphold their fiduciary responsibility to "use medical knowledge, skills, powers and privileges for the benefit of patients and society." "

As in other business education programmes elsewhere, the University of Botswana integrates entrepreneurship into its business education programme. It incorporates experiential learning and carefully arranged student placement in industries and workplaces. This practice differs from the traditional business education programme as it involves a variety of learning activities and experiences which reflect the spirit and principle of entrepreneurship (Solomon et al . 2002; Wilson, Llewellyn, and Robertson 2003). This article is based on a study which aimed to assess and evaluate the benefits of the University of Botswana Business Clinic (UBBC) to students, and the outcomes of its community outreach to the prospective and new enterprise owners. The findings suggest that the Clinic's activities included value-adding experiential learning, which enhanced the students' entrepreneurial education experience, and in the process, extended business support to the local community. However, there was lack of continuity and efficient coordination of these activities, which hampered the Clinic from realising its full potential to develop entrepreneurial skills, knowledge and values in the students and the local community. In spite of this shortcoming, the UBBC has a potential role to play in facilitating and coordinating the integration of entrepreneurship education into the University's programmes and disciplines, as part of the University's aim to be an enterprising institution for national benefit (University of Botswana 2004,5).

Through increasing cultural diversity of European countries education in general and higher education in particular become the constructive force to promote social cohesion and integration. The European higher education policies have manifested the increasing attention towards importance of intercultural learning at all levels of education including higher education. In the research the major EU policy-related documents, initiatives, programmes and organizations responsible for education policies are analyzed through introducing of the key themes and priorities connected with development of intercultural learning. The chronological scope of the study covers the last twenty-year period due to the enormous changes occurred in the field of higher education under increasing multicultural perspective in Europe.

The nature and extent of parent education and support programs targeting parents with children under five is reviewed. Several evaluated Australian and overseas programs are described, and their role and effectiveness in the prevention of child abuse and neglect are examined. The principles and values that underpin such programs are discussed, and their common components outlined. The New Parent Infant Network (NEWPIN) is then situated in the broader framework of effective parent education and support programs operating in Australia.

ABSTRACT Objective: to understand the perspective of children, families and health and education professionals about childhood obesity. Method: a qualitative research study with the participation of 13 children, 12 family members, seven health professionals in primary care and seven education professionals, all linked to the Health at School Program. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews, using recreational resources and applying a scale of silhouettes with children, during the period from April 2017 to March 2018. The analysis was based on the assumptions of thematic content analysis. Results: three categories were identified: Multifactoriality of childhood obesity; Body image by the child, by family members and bullying at school; Perspectives and actions associated with childhood obesity. For the study participants, childhood obesity is conditioned by overeating, with a low nutritional value, in addition to insufficient physical activity. They also understand that the actions to combat obesity proved to be incipient or insufficient. For children, obesity implies dissatisfaction with body image and bullying at school. Conclusion: according to the perspective of the participants, there is a need for integrated actions between health and education professionals, including children and family members, to prevent and combat childhood obesity; in addition to governmental actions to strengthen public policies that consider health promotion and prevention of harms to the child population.

Die Entwicklung der Lehrerausbildung ist auf dem Hintergrund ihrer historischen Rahmen-bedingungen zu betrachten. Diese entstehen aus der komplexen Kombination kultureller, politischer, schulischer und ökonomischer Faktoren. Diese sich beständig wandelnden Ein-flussfaktoren auf Bildung und Erziehung erfordern die Entwicklung neuer theoretischer und praktischer Konzepte für die Lehrerausbildung. Aus dem daraus entstehenden Wissen und den Handlungsmaxim der Pädagogik ergeben sich neue Strukturen und Curricula für die Lehrerbildung. Im Zentrum einer Lehrerausbildung, die auf Schulentwicklung eingeht bzw. sie begleitet, steht die Mobilität, verstanden als Adaption der wissenschaftlichen Erkennt-nisse an einen voranschreitenden gesellschaftlichen Wandel und Erprobung dieses Wissens in Bildungseinrichtungen. Elementar für die Ausbildung zum Lehrer ist nach Blömke (vgl. 2002, 67) der Erwerb des pädagogisch-praktischen Habitus, der ausschließlich an die schuli-sche Praxis gekoppelt ist. Das theoretische Wissen stellt die Grundlage einer guten Reflexi-on der Praxis und der Schulentwicklung dar und steht somit am Anfang des Weges zu päda-gogischer Professionalität. Für die Pädagogik als Wissenschaft, aber auch in deren Praxis, kommt der universitären Lehrerausbildung damit eine Schlüsselrolle zu. Sie ermöglicht den Erwerb wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnisse und die Anbahnung berufsbezogener professioneller Kompetenzen (vgl. ebd., 68). Mittlerweile stehen sich jedoch aus diversen Modernisierungs-prozessen entstandene Konstrukte fachlichen Wissens und praktischen Handelns teils dia-metral gegenüber. Dies ergibt sich aus der unterschiedlichen Bewertung und Berücksichti-gung pädagogischer Antagonismen, wie Organisation und selbstständiger Interaktion, Frei-heit und Zwang, Distanz und Nähe sowie Differenzierung und Einheit. Um als Berufsanfän-ger möglichst souverän mit diesen umgehen zu können, lässt sich Lehrerausbildung als "Vorbereitung auf Unsicherheit" umschreiben (vgl. Helsper 1996, 31). . ; Since the ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities the subject of Inclusion is on the agenda of educational and scientific debate globally. With the signing of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, it is assumed that the relationship of special and inclusive schools will change towards an inclusive school system in the contrachting states. This stirs up the question of whether the existing training facilities are able to install curricula that are apte to the inclusive education system and to create a suitable structures of academic education for enabling prospective students, both general and special needs teachers, to act professionally on inclusive schooling. This question ist examined by a comparison of the German Federal State Bavaria and South Korea, illuminating their models, as well as their implementation of national and international recommendations and decisions regarding inclusive education. Those will be examined especially by viewing implementation in university teacher training and their contribution to the implementation of inclusive education processes. Finally, the imulse and prospects that can be extracted from this comparison are presented. Further, suggestions for positiv changes in inclusive schooling are made.

This book uncovers Kant's hidden theory of cosmopolitan education within the framework of his overall practical philosophy. The Kant brought out here turns out to be very different from current mainstream appropriations, which erroneously consider him one of the founding fathers of the 'new cosmopolitanism'. Kant's Embedded Cosmopolitanism is a valuable source for students of political philosophy, cosmopolitanism, and Kant's ethics.

BackgroundThis pilot study, conducted at a public univerisity in an urban community, collected the experiences of 42 social work students enrolled in a required course on diversity.ObjectiveThis research utilizes Critical Race Theory as a framework and expands on the themes experienced by recievers of microaggression insults, assaults, and invalidation (Sue et al., 2007).MethodsParticipants in this qualitative study completed three survey questions about: their microaggression experiences, immediate responses, and how they felt.ResultsStudent feelings provided beginning insights as to how they coped with their microaggression experiences.ConclusionSocial work educators may find this research supports the importance of cultural awareness and culturally responsive pedagogy.
