This article studies how people across Europe think about cultural value, including cultural heritage, and how this is related to their media usage. Drawing on data from the Eurobarometer in October 2017, which were designed with EU cultural policy goals in mind, we examine which cultural value orientations are most prevalent among citizens in European Union countries, and how these are related to their use of legacy news media and online media, their trust in professional journalists and social networks, and the media system their country belongs to. Our findings show three distinct types of cultural value orientation among Europeans: valuing cultural heritage, valuing cultural exchange, and skepticism towards European culture. These orientations map onto two out of three pillars of EU policy goals. While individual media usage and trust are important predictors of these orientations, we find limited effects of media systems, including market shares of public broadcasters.

The current gold standard technique for SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics is hydrolysis probe-based RT-qPCR. Reliable testing requires reliable control reagents to monitor the efficiency of RNA extraction, reverse transcription and PCR amplification. Here we describe a custom RNA packaging system from the plant virus cowpea mosaic virus to produce virus-like particles that encapsidate specifically designed portions of the genome of SARS-CoV-2, the causative agent of COVID-19. These encapsidated mimics are highly stable particles which can be used either to spike patient swab samples for use as an in-tube extraction and reaction positive control in multiplex RT-qPCR, or alone as a side-by-side mock-positive control reagent. The selection of sequences in the packaged pseudogenomes ensures that these mimics are compatible with the most commonly used primer/probe combinations for SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics (including German Berlin Charité Hospital, American CDC, and Chinese CDC protocols). The plant transient expression system used to produce these encapsidated mimics is inherently low-cost, and sufficiently high-yielding that a single laboratory-scale preparation can provide enough positive control reagent for millions of tests. ; We thank Horticultural Services at the John Innes Centre (JIC) for providing the plants necessary for this work while under the COVID-19 restrictions. A magyar kormányzat a 2008-as gazdasági válság hatásaira, valamint a világgazdaság súlypontjának keletre vándorlására tekintettel a keleti nyitás politikája mellett kötelezte el magát, azaz a keleti feltörekvő piacok felé irányuló export növelését, ezáltal a kivitel diverzifikálását célozta meg. A 2010 óta stabilan kormányzó politikai erő részéről a külgazdasági koncepció mellett az elmúlt tíz évben egy Eurázsia köré épülő geopolitikai narratíva is kikristályosodott. A tanulmány a Gearóid Ó Tuathail által megfogalmazott gyakorlati geopolitikai érvelési modell alkalmazásával, a kormányzati szereplők beszédei, interjúi és esemény-összefoglalói, illetve a fejlesztéspolitika tervdokumentumai alapján igyekszik beazonosítani és értékelni a magyar Eurázsia-narratívát, továbbá bemutatni az annak megvalósítására tett legfontosabb lépéseket és azok külső feltételrendszerét.

A tömeges megbetegedést okozó humánjárvány, vagy járványveszély civilizációs eredetű veszély, mely indokolttá teheti a különleges jogrend bevezetését. A veszélyhelyzetet a különleges jogrendi esetek közül általánosságban a "legenyhébb" következményeket kiváltó tényállásként szokták titulálni, azonban évekig is elhúzódhatnak annak hatásai. A szerző kísérletet tesz bemutatni a Magyar Honvédség veszélyhelyzeti feladatait a COVID-19 világjárvány első hullámának tapasztalatai alapján.
