The themes of religion and politics and their relation in human societies have been a major subject for Cardinal Bernardin. He discussed them widely as a bishop and as a citizen, in the Conference of American Bishops, at universities – where he delivered speeches – among the believers of his archdiocese. As people of faith and citizens of all countries, we find that his questions are our questions too, his analysis is worth reading and studying. Does a separation of Church and State – as it can be seen in our Western culture – offer better ground to carry on two‐level policies, or is it better to have them both administered by a same body, as it happens in Muslim countries? In which ways can church and state cooperate and help each other? What is the role that we have to perform as Christians when called to give our contribution in the political life? This and much more finds extensive explanation in Bernardin's approach.

Problems of axiomatizing religion
In: Studies in East European thought, Band 74, Heft 2, S. 149-163
ISSN: 1573-0948
AbstractThe paper discusses problems which arise in attempts to axiomatize parts of religion or religious belief systems. Besides those problems already investigated by Bochenski, like that of the propositional content or the meaning of religious discourse there are several further ones. This paper deals with the question whether full Classical Logic is suitable, whether one universe of discourse is sufficient, how to use definitions and analogous concepts and whether justifications satisfy credibility criteria.
RELIGION AMONG AMERICAN INDIANS
In: The annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science, Band 311, S. 127-136
ISSN: 0002-7162
The primitive'religious ideas, of the American Indians, their ritualistic forms, their soc function, & their chief practitioners are described. The persistence of these ideas & the manner in which they affect the Indian's acceptance of the white man's ways are illustrated. Special attention is paid to the rise of the Peyote Cult & its development into the Native American Church, which appears to be a transitional institution ultimately leading to the acceptance of the white man's religion. Ligestilling, ægteskab og religion
In: Kvinder, køn og forskning, Heft 4
In the 1880's the Danish Women's Movement put the majority rights of married women on the agenda. The female position according to the Bible as well as the equality of the spouses became important issues in the debate. This article analyses the institution of marriage from 1912, when the marriage ritual was reformed, until the new marriage laws in 1922 and 1925. Interestingly enough there was no conflict between religion and equality, although religion in general was considered to legitimate female subordination in society. These two reforms - the marriage ritual and the marriage laws - modernised the institution of marriage and contributed to women's political subjectivity and prepared women for the welfare system based on universal and individual rights.
