Analyzed are segments of the Quebec bourgeoisie, with consideration of their economic capability, unified structure, & relationships with the Canadian bourgeoisie & the Parti-Quebecois. Hypothesized is the latter's position as articulator to conflicts between the Canadian & Quebec bourgeoisie. Differentiation between the Quebec & French-Canadian groups shows disagreement with J. Niosi's thesis ('The New French-Canadian Bourgeoisie,' Studies in Political Economy, 1979, 1). Emphasized is the Quebec bourgeoisie's growing strength in major Canadian-controlled companies, & its attempts to replace the Canadian bourgeoisie as promoter of working class interests with United States capital. The cooperative sector exhibits the monopolistic, structural, & exploitative characteristics of Canadian capitalist firms; state corporations, the private sector, & cooperatives comprise the Quebec bourgeoisie. Quebec's attempt to control production through worker exploitation can be seen in the growth of the francophone economic elite controlling Hydro-Quebec. D. Dunseath.
