Pero la condición para realizar ese discernimiento es incorporar al análisis las premisas que refieren a la particularidad, fragmentación y apertura que asiste a las culturas (en este caso la evangélica y la juvenil). En ese contexto mostraremos la síntesis que ejerce un conjunto de Rock evangélico (Rescate) entre dos momentos específicos: la situación del campo evangélico en Argentina (y en especial la joven generación contemporánea) y una cultura juvenil trabajada por el rock local. Podremos concluir que, aún cuando no se lo proponga, y aún cuando un razonamiento nominalista supone a los evangélicos como protestantes clásicos, la eficacia de la intervención de rescate implica un ejercicio de inculturación.

What does race have to do with religion? According to Khyati Y. Joshi, quite a bit. In this compelling look at the ways that second generation Indian Americans develop and change their sense of ethnic identity, she reveals how race and religion interact, intersect, and affect each other in a myriad of complex ways. In a society where Christianity and whiteness are the norm, most Indian Americans are both racial and religious minorities. At the same time-perceived as neither black nor white-they are a racially ambiguous population. One result of these factors is the racialization of religion, on which Joshi offers important insights in the wake of 9/11 and the intensified backlash against Americans who look Middle Eastern and South Asian. Drawing on case studies and in-depth interviews with forty-one second-generation Indian Americans, Joshi analyzes their experiences involving religion, race, and ethnicity from elementary school to adulthood. She shows how their identity has developed differently from their parents' and their non-Indian peers', and how religion often exerted a dramatic effect. She maps the many crossroads that they encounter as they navigate between home and religious community, family obligations and school, and a hope to retain their ethnic identity while also feeling disconnected from their parents' generation. Through her candid insights into the internal conflicts that contemporary Indian Americans face as they negotiate this pastiche of experiences, and the religious and racial discrimination they encounter, Joshi provides a timely window into the ways that race, religion, and ethnicity coincide in day-to-day life.

When Barack Obama announced his support for "Faith Based Initiatives" in August 2008 many people were shocked. Others saw it as a political ploy because they regarded the policy as one of the Bush Administration's more unpopular programmes. In fact, the idea of "Faith Based Initiatives" was first proposed during the Clinton Presidency with support from such liberals as Senator Joe Liebermann. In this article popular misunderstandings of the role of religion in the USA will be discussed to show that the issue is far more complex than the media and a host of critical authors want us to believe and that the attack on "Faith Based Initiatives" has far-reaching implications for the relationship between Christianity and politics in both America and the rest of the world. It also raises issues about ethnicity, religion and the conflict of worldviews.

The SE background, political attitudes, & motivations for political activism among anti-ERA political activists are investigated, utilizing a sample consisting of 154 F's interviewed during an anti-ERA rally at the Tex State Legislature. They were found to be well-educated with high family incomes; a large majority belonging to fundamentalist religious denominations. Their political attitudes fit with those of the American Radical Right & they were particularly concerned with domestic communism. They were also politically active & could not be classed as being alienated. The conclusion is that their basic motivation to activism on the ERA issue came from a fundamentalist religious belief. 4 Tables. AA.

The paper argues for the continued importance and usefulness of the term &ldquo ; civil religion&rdquo ; in light of the (West) German discussion and the situation in Europe. For non-Americans, and especially for Germans for whom terms like &ldquo ; political religion&rdquo ; are tied to the National Socialist past, the concept of civil religion helps explain the relationship of religion and politics, both in modern democracies in general and in Germany and the United States in particular.

Religious practices, depressive symptoms, and bouts of major depression are widespread among adolescents in all countries of the world, but there has not been an agreement on their relationship. This paper attempts to find out a possible relationship between religion and depression among adolescents in Ekiti State Nigeria. The descriptive research of the survey type was adopted for the study. The sample consisted of 520 adolescents that were selected using a multistage sampling technique from the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State of Nigeria. A questionnaire on religious practices and depression designed by the researcher and based on the works of Flugum (1995) and Beck (1996) was used to collect data and the data collected were analysed using frequency counts, Pearson Product Moment Correlation and student t-test to test the two hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The results show that the adolescents in Ekiti State are religious and there is no significant relationship between religion and depression. However, there is a significant difference in the incidence of depression among Christian and Muslim adolescents in the Ekiti State of Nigeria. It was recommended that school counsellors should employ the use of religious involvement in counselling through various religious practices, such as prayer or meditation, to reduce tension and anxiety among the adolescents.

Religion is a complex and multidimensional phenomenon that informs politics in various ways. This article examines the effects of religious affiliation, religious salience, and religious group advocacy on roll‐call voting in the Wisconsin state legislature. Various studies have demonstrated the impact of religious affiliation on legislative politics, but our use of additional religious indicators allows us to model the religious effect in a more accurate and nuanced manner. Using data from an original survey of state legislators, we utilized structural equation modeling to measure the direct and indirect effects of these religious factors on both the general pattern of roll‐call voting and voting on a high‐salience issue, abortion. Ultimately, the findings indicate that, even when we control for political party affiliation, which is a dominant influence on roll‐call voting, conservative Protestant religious affiliation and high religious salience influence legislative voting. We conclude with a discussion of the implications for future studies of religion in the legislative arena.

Abstract
The paper explores the interplay between religion, security, and gender. By employing a broad analytical security framework ranging from warfare violence against women to violence in the domestic sphere, the paper supports the view that countries with heightened rates of gender inequalities and violence are more insecure and prone to conflict. The paper also questions the role played by religions enforcing hierarchical gender constructs in preserving women's security and protecting them from gender-based violence. Against this background, the paper maintains that deferring the realisation of women's security until a comprehensive reform has taken place within the religious precinct must not be an option. Such an approach would signify the capitulation of the egalitarian human rights paradigm. Instead, women's roles as agents of change within religious institutions should be supported, and the proactive engagement of states to encourage religious institutions to reform and embrace an egalitarian ethos should be promoted. Only in this way will the interplay of religion, security, and gender truly benefit the pursuit of women's security.
