The purpose of this paper is the creation of a model for supply chain performance optimization and the development of a prototype of the decision support system. The study covered an efficient and agile supply chain type. The Analytic Hierarchy Process was used (AHP) for the evaluation and ranking of supply chains. The research on this topic have dealt with the evaluation and ranking of suppliers within supply chains not considering the characteristics of different types of supply chains. The contribution of this work is in the development of a new model that enables the evaluation and ranking of supply chains considering the priorities of key performance indicators in different types of supply chains, providing management with the support in decision making through simulation and the finding of optimum solutions for the specific supply chain type, as well as the possibility of evaluation and ranking of different supply chain types on the basis of weighted overall performance of each supply chain.Developed and suggested models provide company management with monitoring and control of individual key performance indicators and total supply chain performance, and in this way, become the support to the management in strategic decision making.

Research Methods in Deliberative Democracy is the first book that brings together a wide range of methods used in the study of deliberative democracy. It offers thirty-one different methods that scholars use for theorizing, measuring, exploring, or applying deliberative democracy. Each chapter presents one method by explaining its utility in deliberative democracy research and providing guidance on its application by drawing on examples from previous studies. The book hopes to inspire scholars to undertake methodologically robust, intellectually creative, and politically relevant research. It fills a significant gap in a rapidly growing field of research by assembling diverse methods and thereby expanding the range of methodological choices available to students, scholars, and practitioners of deliberative democracy.

Poisson and negative binomial regression methods are used to analyze the monthly time series data to determine the effects of introducing an integrated security management system including closed-circuit television (CCTV), door alarm monitoring, proximity card access, and emergency call boxes to a large privately-owned complex of apartment buildings in New York City. Crime rates in a control apartment complex under the same ownership, and in the police precinct in which the 2 complexes are located, serve as controls.

Identity is a reflection of how people view themselves within the social structure (Campbell, 2010; Hill & Thomas, 2000). Too often these identities are mirror images of normalized labels and affiliations defined by, and through, social norms and values. Introspective of social constructs and teachings of normalcy, often times one's identity and status is never questioned (Ramsey, 2004). Juxtaposing systemic thinking with personal knowledge, this article offers insights into the uses and contributions of critical autobiographical research as a both paradigm of research and practice. This article seeks to link the application of critical autobiography with educational practice and theory to promote social justice, identity development, and lifelong learning.

This article describes basic epidemiologic and clinical features of HIV disease in infants, children, and adolescents and explores controversies about pediatric research in the specific context of AIDS. Because many potentially therapeutic agents will initially be available only through clinical trials, it is essential that pediatric populations have access to such trials yet not be exposed to undue risks. Distinguishing clearly between risks posed by research interventions versus those associated with attempts to provide treatment may guide the resolution of apparent ethical dilemmas. Special attention must also be given to concerns raised by trials that involve placebo administratcon, perinatal interventions, enrollment of foster children, and consent by adolescents without parental notification .

The research tradition has arisen from a specific set of historical, disciplinary and institutional conditions. The very emergence of 'documentation' is predicated upon a set of long-term processes in which humans have developed the capacity to use symbols and store knowledge such that it can be exchanged and inter-generationally transmitted. This work discusses the history, development and current debates alive in the field
