El artículo se propone aportar algunas reflexiones para pensar la cuestión del consenso social durante la última dictadura militar argentina (1976-1983). En principio sistematizaremos las principales hipótesis sobre los factores que incidieron en la legitimación del régimen, sobre todo por parte de amplios sectores de la sociedad que excedieron la denominada "coalición golpista". Luego, analizaremos algunos elementos conceptuales elaborados para abordar las actitudes de la población bajo el nazismo y el franquismo, considerando especialmente ciertas perspectivas que permiten reflexionar sobre las bases de poder más micro sobre las que se asentaron algunos de estos regímenes. Finalmente, retomaremos estos elementos para realizar un análisis "denso" de un Legajo policial del Archivo de la Dirección de Inteligencia de la Policía de la Provincia de Buenos Aires sobre un conflicto en la ciudad de Lincoln. Ello nos permitirá poner en juego el enfoque analítico esbozado, observar en una situación microsocial algunas de las dinámicas más terribles que desató la dictadura militar y mostrar la potencialidad para este tipo de estudios de una política de apertura amplia de los archivos de las fuerzas de seguridad en la Argentina. ; The article aims to provide some reflections to think about the question of social consensus during the last military dictatorship in Argentina (1976-1983). First, we systematize the main hypotheses about factors that influenced the legitimacy of the regime, especially by broad sectors of society that exceeded the so-called "coalition coup". Then, we analyze some conceptual elements developed to study the attitudes of the population under nazism and the Franco regime, especially considering certain perspectives that allow us reflect on the micro power bases on which some of these regimes managed to lean on. Finally, we use these items to analyze a police file from Archive of the Direction of Intelligence of the Police of the Province of Buenos Aires about a conflict in the city of Lincoln. This will allow us to put the analytical approach outlined at stake, observe in a microsocial situation some of the most terrible dynamic that unleashed the last military dictatorship and show the potentiality for this type of studies of a broad policy of openness of the archives of the security forces in Argentina. ; Facultad de Humanidades y Ciencias de la Educación

We show that exposure to repression under dictatorship increases support for democracy and contributes to regime change when a democratic window of opportunity arises. Studying the military dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet in Chile, we exploit the fact that the predetermined location of military bases predicts local levels of civilian victimization, but is unrelated to historical political preferences. Using two-stage least squares, we show that increased exposure to repression during the dictatorship led to higher voter registration and higher opposition to Pinochet's continuation in power in the 1988 plebiscite that triggered the democratic transition. Complementary survey data confirms that individuals with greater exposure to repression during the military regime continue to have stronger preferences for democracy. However, exposure to repression does not affect election outcomes after democratization.

This article follows a series of studies on memoirs regarding various types of social violence perpetrated under the military dictatorship in Chile. We want to approach, from a life story, the problem of illegal child appropriations occurred under the dictatorial institutional framework, made possible by the use of power on popular sectors. This work is the advance of a major investigation, on minors' appropriations and international adoptions of irregular character developed during the military dictatorship in Chile. The investigation's working methodology is linked to oral history. Hence, testimony is central to addressing the problem, together with the analysis of documentation associated with juvenile cases. ; El presente artículo se inscribe en los estudios de memorias sobre los diversos tipos de violencia social ejercidos bajo la dictadura militar en Chile. Nos interesa aproximarnos a partir de una historia de vida a la problemática de las apropiaciones ilegales de menores ocurridas bajo el entramado institucional dictatorial, posibilitadas por el uso del poder sobre los sectores populares. Este trabajo es el avance de una investigación mayor, sobre las apropiaciones de menores y adopciones internacionales de carácter irregular desarrolladas durante la dictadura militar en Chile. La metodología de trabajo de esta investigación se vincula a la historia oral. De ahí que el testimonio es un elemento central para abordar la problemática, junto con el análisis de la documentación asociada a las causas de menores.

In 1939, Spain saw the end of a bloody three year civil war and the beginning of Francisco Franco's nearly forty year military dictatorship. The immediate postwar was one filled with hunger, poverty, and executions as Franco silenced all opposition. Although cinema was a respite from the terror outside of the theater, the regime utilized Spanish films in order to spread propaganda and write their own version of the civil war, glorifying the victorious Nationalists and demonizing the Republican losers. My thesis examines three pairs of films, each pair containing a Spanish production and a production from Hollywood, and analyzes how the imported American films spoke more to the immediate wounds of the losers from the war than the highly-political Spanish films. Although the American films were censored, their themes and images still provided opportunities for this traumatized audience to appropriate them and form their own subtle subversion to counter the terror and repression of Franco's dictatorship.

As a corollary of the Six Days War and its repercussions in the Argentinean political debate, theFederación de Instituciones Culturales Judías de la República Argentina, the ICUF, launched a new publication from which its members would express their position with regard to conflicts of diverse nature: the Middle-East situation, Jewish cultural life in the USSR, conflicts among local communal organizations, and the political, economical and cultural situation in Argentina. Since then and until 1987, when the Icufist periodical stopped being published,Tiempo's pages would provide testimony of the transformations and the continuities about the political conflict within the community's spaces and, simultaneously, about the tense relationships and meaning configurations established with the Argentinean national political stage. During 1984 and 1985 there was much discussion of an apparent 'resurgence' of democracy in many countries in Latin America. As the military handed over the reins of government to elected civilian rulers in Honduras, El Salvador and Argentina, and steps toward the same end were taken in Uruguay and Brazil, the American media and the Reagan administration – conveniently forgetting its earlier support for military dictatorship – began to speak glowingly of a new 'Latin spring'.

Desde el regreso a la democracia en la Argentina (1983), la temática del pasado reciente dictatorial ha sido abordada extensamente por el formato audiovisual, especialmente a través del cine, pero también en televisión. A partir de diversos abordajes y géneros se ha intentando representar aquello que era impensado e inimaginado para la sociedad. Los crímenes, las desapariciones y el horror de los centros clandestinos de detención fueron tempranamente representados por distintas producciones audiovisuales. En el presente artículo nos proponemos analizar cómo los documentales televisivos de Canal Encuentro han representado los lugares de desaparición en relación con la palabra de sobrevivientes de la última dictadura. ; Since the return of democracy in Argentina (1983), the subject of the recent dictatorial past has been extensively addressed by audiovisual formats, especially through cinema, but also through television. From different approaches and genres, they have tried to represent what was unthinkable and unimaginable by the society. The crimes, disappearances and horror of the clandestine detention centers were early represented by different audiovisual productions. In this article we intend to analyze how television documentaries of Encuentro Channel have represented the places of disappearance in relation to the testimonies of the survivors of the last dictatorship.

This article explores the evolution of French–Spanish military relations during the Franco dictatorship and the first democratic governments in Spain. After examining the origins, implications and limits of the bilateral general rapprochement, we will focus on French transfers of defence technology and arms to Spain. During the Cold War, Spain was part of the western bloc and the United States of America was the main international partner of the Franco regime. Nevertheless, western European countries, led by France, started to compete with the USA in Spain's political, economic and military external relations. After more than two decades of contact amongst French and Spanish armies, governments and arms companies (mainly state-owned), the most significant results in the military field appeared at the beginning of the 1970s, still during the dictatorship, and were consolidated and expanded during the democratic transition after 1975. French offers of co-manufacturing agreements, expert training and aid for exports, as well as the Spanish wish to approach Europe to counteract US predominance, largely explain the success of French military action in Spain during this period.

La intervención sobre la Biblioteca Vigil desnuda otras tramas de la última dictadura argentina (1976-1983): el genocidio cultural perpetrado y sus efectos en el presente. Específicamente, el día 25 de febrero de 1977, un grupo formado por integrantes de las fuerzas armadas, servicios de seguridad y civiles profesionales, tomaron sus instalaciones bajo la figura de "intervención normalizadora". Una posterior disposición fechada en abril de 1977, inició la liquidación de su extraordinario patrimonio. Ciertamente, su caso podría inscribirse en un denominador común de las acciones dictatoriales en general y sobre el campo de la cultura en particular: persecusión, censura, detención ilegal, tortura y desaparición. No obstante, exhibe características inéditas: la liquidación de sus bienes se sucedió en forma ininterrumpida durante más de treinta años siendo clausurada a fines del año 2008. Asimismo, a la fecha, aún se encuentra bajo intervención y en proceso de normalización. En el presente trabajo describiremos los diversos intentos de recuperación de la entidad, sus etapas históricas, las estrategias implementadas y los obstáculos políticos, socioculturales y jurídicos. El objeto de su estudio tiene por objeto visibilizar una agenda pendiente: los delitos culturales y económicos de carácter imprescriptible en el marco de un genocidio. ; The intervention on the "Biblioteca Vigil" evidences other effects of last Argentina's dictatorship (1976-1983): cultural genocide. Specifically, on February 25, 1977, a group formed by members of the armed forces, security services and civilian professionals, took their installations under the figure of "normalizing intervention". A subsequent disposition dated April 1977, began the settlement of its outstanding equity. The goal of this paper is to re-examine the circumstances of the Falkland Islands crisis, caused by the Argentine annexation of the archipelago in 1982. It challenges the popular belief that the Falklands invasion was only aimed at distracting the society from the poor conditions of living caused by the deteriorating economy and lack of democracy. The paper takes into consideration a third factor: nationalism of the Argentine armed forces. The article takes both the domestic and international contexts of the Falklands crisis into consideration and presents how nationalist attitudes of the Argentine military influenced the Falklands conflict in 1982.

Gymnastics, in its modern condition, has constantly placed itself between the ethical and aesthetic concerns over the body's care and molding. Great shows, which are typical of the gymnastics exhibitions, are a testimony of this, promoting, communicating and educating from a body model that represents the man-woman citizen in its time and space. The last civil- military dictatorship in Uruguay (1973- 1985) was a period of exaltation and promotion of these exhibitions all over the country. This paper deals with the ambivalence this state policy generated within the members of gymnastics teams, compelled to obey a state command but who had, on the other hand, chances to meet, create and be entertained in return . ; La gimnasia, en su condición moderna, no ha dejado de instalarse entre la preocupación ética y estética del cuidado y moldeado del cuerpo. Los grandes despliegues característicos de las exhibiciones gimnásticas dan cuenta de ello, articulados entre la promoción, difusión y educación a partir de un modelo de cuerpo-hombre-mujer-ciudadano ordenado en el tiempo y el espacio. En Uruguay, la última dictadura cívico-militar (1973-1985) fue un período de exaltación y promoción de estas exhibiciones en todo el país. Este trabajo se ocupa de las ambivalencias en la recepción de esta política de Estado por parte de quienes integraron las selecciones gimnásticas, habiendo sido conminados a cumplir un mandato estatal en el que, como contrapartida, encontraron posibilidades de reunión, creación y esparcimiento. ; A ginástica, na sua condição moderna, não deixou de se estabelecer entre a preocupação ética e estética do cuidado e modelagem do corpo. As grandes realizações características das exibições ginásticas tratam disso, articuladas entre a promoção, difusão e educação a partir de um modelo de corpo-homem-mulher-cidadão colocado no tempo e no espaço. No Uruguai, a última ditadura cívico-militar (1973-1985) foi um período de exaltação e promoção dessas exibições em todo o país. Este trabalho trata das ambivalências na recepção desta política de Estado por parte de quem fez parte das seleções de ginástica, que foram obrigados a cumprir um mandato estadual no qual, em compensação, acabaram encontrando possibilidades de reunião, criação e lazer.
