Bishop Dupanloup was one of the leading figures of the liberal Catholicism in France in the 19th century. From the private correspondence of the priest of Savoy, the objective is to highlight the networks which were set up and structured by the priest of Savoy to defend the interests of the Catholic Church in a context of revolutionary tensions.Under the Second Republic, from 1848 to 1851, Dupanloup and his networks particularly focused on the struggle for freedom of education and from 1849 on the struggle for the vote of the Falloux bill, a bill aimed to completely reorganize public and private education. Around Dupanloup an ensemble aggregated, made of parties, networks and personalities of various origins, lay and ecclesiastical, religious and political, who were known as the "Dupanloup party". This "party" relied above all on the "duo" Dupanloup-Montalembert, who turned into a "trio" when Alfred de Falloux became minister of public education and worship with the primary objective of obtaining the freedom for the Secondary education and to support the temporal authority of the pope. Strategies appear in the correspondence and private writings of Dupanloup that form the backdrop of the public action of the pedagogical priest. These epistolary exchanges form a tight grid between individuals sharing more or less the same convictions and objectives and aiming to tilt the revolutionary process in their favor. It is in the private space of correspondence that Dupanloup already built his public action. Studying the networks and the battles of the party of Dupanloup under the Second Republic makes it possible to go back more precisely to a part of history which is quite unknown. The conflicts which agitated the political, social and religious life of the Second Republic were indeed revealing of the ideological, political, social and religious bubbling turmoil of the mid-nineteenth century. It crystallized public debates that still animated the Europe of the 21st century, notably on the question of secularism or the secularization of society. The evolution of Dupanloup's thinking during this period reveals the tensions and dissensions which agitated liberal Catholics themselves but also their relationship with the clergy and with society. It seems relevant to understand how a group of conservative Catholics, a minority itself within the liberal Catholic movement, managed to rise to the top of republican institutions, whereas from 1848 to 1851 revolutionary days multiplied and radicalized. Can we conclude with a victory of the "Dupanloup party"? Was the Social Revolution which aborted in June 1848 a Counter-Revolution or paradoxically a Catholic Revolution ?

; The articleconsidersthe main sourcesof fi nancialrevenuesof the Tomsk andTobolskdepartmentsof the Imperial OrthodoxPalestine Society. The funds collected were subsequentlyused to addresscultural, educational, charitable andscientific issues as well as to deal with the questions of enforcementand strengtheningRussia's presencein the Holy Land. The money raised by the Western Siberian departments of the Imperial Orthodox-Palestine Society came from several sources. First of all, donations were made by local business and political elite, though they were so meager that they hardly ever reached the regional departments; secondly, there were one-time and annual membership dues, which were particularly large in the early years of departments. Other sources included kruzhechnye church plate collections, made with the help of stationary containers which were put in crowded places; donations for the holy places, given for the commemoration of relatives or for the health of relatives or friends; money raised from selling publications of the Imperial OrthodoxPalestine Society as well as religious literature; donations made after the Palestine reading forums. The article points out that the main revenue was generated through the annual Palm Sunday collections organized during Vayi week in all parishes of the Tomsk and Tobolsk eparchies. As a result, their total revenue was bigger than that of all the Western-Siberian departments, reaching 2,200 roubles a year in the Tobolsk and 6,400 roubles in the Tomsk departments. The article also considers the measures taken by Western-Siberian departments to raise more money, by publishing calls in city and eparchy newspapers for "actions to make the Palm Sunday collections better-organized"; by sending out invitations to parish clergy, which in fact were mandatory statements; by popularizing among various groups of society the information about the past and present of the Holy Land through after-sermon meetings and readings; distributing Palestine leafl ets. The authors conclude that donations reached the highest level by the beginning of the XX century, which was also the period of the most heightened activity of the Imperial OrthodoxPalestine Society. During and after the first Russian Revolution contributions to the departments tended to obviously go down. The article also reveals the reasons for the gradual cutbacks of contributions into the Imperial OrthodoxPalestine Society. One of them was the increasing number of various collections for charity or other needs when devout believers had to make a choice where to give their scanty means to? They were likely to prefer to send donations to establishments which could produce concrete and more tangible results such as a parish church, school, migrants' needs, etc. Another reason for cutbacks was secularization of the society particularly of city dwellers and younger generation. The key reason though was the Revolution of 1905-1907 which signifi cantly affected the situation in the country and made the Russian mentality more radical.

; Literature on the history of the Franciscans in Mexico from the XVI to the XIX centuries goes from abundant to scarce. There are many studies on the XVI Century and practically none on the XIX Century. The focus of this thesis is on recovering the history of the Franciscans in Mexico in the XIX Century when there was a crisis in this evangelizing order of the Americas. This was the product of the negative effects of the Enlightenment, internal conflicts within the religious communities, a result of the loss of Franciscan charisma, the secularization of doctrines and the final blow ¿ the application of the Reform Laws beginning in the middle of the century. We have especially focused on the study of the history of the Nuestro Seráfico Padre San Francisco de Bucareli Convent, differentiating it from the old Bucareli mission. We put special emphasis on the presence of the Franciscans in Michoacán Province and the great work begun in 1896 which consisted of the construction of the convent with two patios, a library, kitchen, refectory and the construction of an aqueduct more than four kilometers long that brought water from the Plátano stream to the conventito (little convent), as the local people call it, located on a hill approximately 100 meters from the town. The reason given for the construction of this convent in the semi-desert area of Querétaro is the same given by M.R.P. Friar Antonio de Jesús Muñoz y Ortiz, general delegate for the government of the five Franciscan Provinces which existed at the end of the XIX Century in the Mexican Republic: to try to establish regular observance and the common life in these Provinces under his charge and do whatever is necessary¿so that they may be freed of the state of prostration and dejectedness to which they are subjected by the circumstances of the times, returning to that primitive splendor and movement which in other times made them shine.and gave such abundant fruits of holiness and spiritual perfection within our Mexican church. The opening of the novitiate in 1900 for the five dying Franciscan provinces in Mexico generated enthusiasm for the establishment of the common life in all of the country, until its cancellation with the application of the 1908 restoration promoted by the M.R.P. Commissary General, Friar José M. Bottaro. Unfortunately, the Bucareli convent did not achieve the objective of restoring the religious life in the Mexican Republic, since the crisis of the Franciscan Order in the XIX Century continued until the middle of the XX Century and greatly surpassed the possibilities of the novitiate itself
