Even though the unequal reach of the state has become an important concern in the literature on developing democracies in Latin America, empirical measures of intracountry variation in state capacity are scarce. So far, attempts to develop valid measures of the reach of the state have often been hampered by inadequate data. Leveraging insights from national-level scholarship, this article proposes a tax-based measure to capture such intracountry variation. Drawing on a comprehensive data set of municipal finance and estimates of economic activity derived from nighttime lights, it maps state capacity in Ecuador. The article validates the measure on the basis of survey data collected by the Latin American Public Opinion Project. A multilevel analysis demonstrates that citizens tend to be more satisfied with the services provided by the state in municipalities with higher state capacity, which strengthens confidence that the measure picks up relevant differences. The purpose of this study is to determine the type of plagiarism contained in student papers on the subject of Introduction to Literature and the factors causing students to do plagiarism. Researchers used descriptive quantitative research methods to answer both research questions. In this study, this type of plagiarism is examined using unpaid online applications and manuals to determine the type of plagiarism based on indicators of government regulation no. 17 year 2010. While the factors causing plagiarism obtained through the responses of respondents to a given questionnaire. Population in research is one semester student majoring in English Education. The total population was 50 students and the sample in the study was 44. The results of the study show that type 1 plagiarism is the most dominant type appearing in student papers, followed by plagiarism types 2, 3 and 4. Chapters 1 and 2 in most papers are chapters where the chances of plagiarism occur most often. Then, the factors that cause students to practice plagiarism are: a) lack of understanding how to cite and write references well so not confident in composing academic writing; b) limited access to referrals and c) student attitudes which often delay and hasten in completing tasks.
Due to fast globalization development, the place of bilingual education becomes rather drastic, gaining the role of an urgent importance in modern society which daily puts out the solutions for the educational demands. Mass bilingualism, deformation of the linguistic situation, conflict of speech problems can have consequences of social consolidation loss, dangerous processes of assimilation both linguistic and national-cultural. The purpose of this study is an attempt to investigate the phenomenon of bilingualism, the causes of its origin; to show some aspects of the problem of bilingualism, which is the key to solving the whole complex of problems through modern innovative teaching methods related to the functioning of languages in Ukraine as well as abroad. The analysis of recent research methods and publications have been trying to reveal this issue and find a sound solution for it. Modern Ukrainian researchers are paying close attention to bilingual education. Foreign experience in this area was analyzed by many wise scholars and their apprentices. The problem of multilingualism is of particular importance today because it is primarily caused by socio-economic and political changes in the world that require the more active involvement of different countries in the global geopolitical multicultural dialogue. One of the factors in activating such a dialogue is the need to be fluent in at least one foreign language, which has led to the emergence of such a phenomenon in the world of educational practice, as bilingual education. To solve this problem, one must take into an account the whole complex of features of the language and different aspects of the relation of the cultural components of the language with its levels. For Ukraine, the development of bilingual education is driven, first and foremost, by a general tendency towards integration into the European space, a desire for cultural dialogue and intercultural communication. Key words: bilingualism, bilingual education, methods, programs, approaches

Entrepreneurship skills are very different from managerial skills. Physiologically, entrepreneurial skills are the function of a developed right hemisphere of the brain, while managerial skills are processed in the left side of the brain. The development of entrepreneurs, therefore, is quite different from managerial development. According to Distinguished Professor Raymond W.Y. Kao, many people lose their entrepreneurial spirit because of the educational system. The problem appears to stem from the fact that traditional education teaches to formalize before doing, while entrepreneurs prefer action rather than pen and paper. This paper begins with a literature review. It then describes and analyzes entrepreneurship education in Canada, the US, Australia and Europe. It explains what is being taught and how. Based on the curriculum of almost fifty schools of business, the author develops a learning agenda, ranging from business basics and techniques, to character development skills and integration. Recommendations are then made, based on outstanding examples of entrepreneurship education in different countries.
This article attempts to do two things: one, to describe the sizeable for‐profit higher education sector; and second—and mainly—to tell the story of one of the very few successful organizing drives in recent years in that sector. In this case, the drive was at Kaplan International Centers (KIC) in New York City. The article is coauthored by Joe Berry, who has studied and written about contingent faculty organizing, and participated in it for many years, and Jonathan Blanchette, who was one of the leading member‐organizers of the successful organizing drive at KIC. As part of the narrative of the organizing drive and subsequent negotiations for first contract, the article deals with teacher consciousness, fears, and management antiunion tactics, and why the antiunion tactics were ultimately unsuccessful. The article concludes with some strategic considerations and conclusions, as well as summary lists of tactics used and references for further reading on this case.

(ICG2).

In this dissertation I explore the intersections between curriculum studies and sustainability. The educational possibilities of intensifying our ecological attunement are investigated with a focus on advancing environmental sensitivity and place consciousness. More specifically, I inquire into the potentialities of embracing what I call a bioregional ecocurriculum for sustainability within the field of curriculum studies. I argue that curriculum studies is well positioned to respond to the ecological crisis and to contest the contemporary mechanistic form of education by returning to a more "wild" form of intellectual, spiritual, and ecological scholarship. By wild, I mean a more robust, original, resilient, and diverse curriculum. An eco-curriculum for sustainability embraces the kind of educational experiences that foster a greater sense of place within a more complicated, participatory, and democratic framework. An eco-curriculum has evolved as a form of education that responds to the need to understand and preserve the ecological complexities that help maintain and restore biospheric wellness. In the spirit of Gregory Bateson (1972), I posit that we need to strive to educate and theorize in ways that enable people to be aware of the "pattern that connects." When we recognize the pattern that connects, we learn the importance of relationships. I utilize an ecological worldview to look at the interconnection between environmental literacy and bioregional thinking. In the quest to advance sustainability and to "de-carbonize" our world, I posit that we need to help our students to cultivate a sense of place. I argue that when we are able to recognize and appreciate the nuances and particularities of our place, we are better situated to formulate an informed, inspired, and more appropriate response to the ecological crisis.
