In recent debates on the theoretical framework of social sciences, Indian political scientist Gopal Guru mounted a critique that Indian social science is not representative and egalitarian. In the same breath, Gopal Guru sought to rationalise this lacuna. Guru claimed that the works of Dalit scholars and thinkers are more performance-oriented and less theoretical. This paper would raise several issues with reference to Gopal Guru's claims: Does theory belong to an elite category? Does the lack of representation of Dalit scholarship present a theoretical conundrum for Indian social sciences? Is Gopal Guru falling into the trap of hierarchical complementarity between theory and performance/praxis? And, is there an intractable dilemma among the Dalit scholars between the politics of representation and the politics of ideas? This paper demonstrates that Guru's insistence on the moral, existential and social necessity of the Dalit theory is valid. Creating this paper was a wicked problem due to how deep of an issue the gun debate is in the United States. In the discussion of guns, there is a side that wants to abolish them, a side that believes in the right of the second amendment, and a middle ground where we can have guns in society with added in legal measures. Surely enough, those that are in opposition to firearms are persuaded due to the acts of violence and crime committed with them. Then there are those that use them in a way of self-defense. Through this paper, the goal is to enlighten new-coming critical thinkers to get a general sense of what is going on in this wicked debate. The issues of guns can even be linked to the wording that was constructed in the Constitution in the second amendment. The conflict of this interpretation has sparked court cases to occur around it. Controversy has also sparked around devastating mass shootings that have occurred. As times have changed, those look to guns as more for protection as compared to sport or other interests. To this day, lawmakers are struggling to find a ground on what new measures can be put into place regarding guns but are they truly carrying out the duties of those guidelines they have in place.

Die Politbarometer werden seit 1977 etwa monatlich von der Forschungsgruppe Wahlen für das Zweite Deutsche Fernsehen (ZDF) durchgeführt. Seit 1990 steht diese Datenbasis auch für die neuen Bundesländer zur Verfügung. Im Zentrum der Untersuchung stehen die Meinungen und Einstellungen der wahlberechtigten Bevölkerung in der Bundesrepublik zu aktuellen politischen Themen, Parteien und Politikern sowie dem Wahlverhalten. 1990 bis 1995 und ab 1999 wurden die Politbarometer-Umfragen in den neuen und alten Bundesländern getrennt durchgeführt (Politbarometer Ost bzw. Politbarometer West). Die monatlichen Einzelumfragen eines Jahres werden in einen kumulierten Datensatz integriert, der alle Erhebungen eines Jahres und alle Variablen des jeweiligen Jahrganges umfasst. Ab 2003 sind die Politbarometer-Kurzbefragungen, die unterschiedlich häufig im Jahr erhoben werden, in die Jahreskumulation integriert.

El artículo explora algunos procesos de transformación del concepto de utopía tanto a nivel teórico como estético. Rastrea su presencia en discursos de tipo explicativo-propositivo (en la filosofía, las ciencias, las ciencias sociales, la historia y la política) y en elaboraciones plástico-narrativas (como la literatura, la poesía, la pintura y el cine) para visibilizar una diversidad de usos que se recogen bajo las categorías de utopía como: a) modelo imaginario, b) función, c) escuela de pensamiento, y d) ideología. El examen revela el enorme poder productivo del concepto y ciertos fines para los que históricamente ha sido y podría seguir siendo usado: justificar formas de opresión (estableciendo una perturbadora identidad entre el concepto de utopía y su supuesto contrario, la distopía) o inspirar proyectos liberadores en el sentido de "utopismos" de diversa índole (en la figura de pensadores críticos que, al echar mano del concepto por su potencial de superar o esquivar las implicaciones negativas de modelos de pensamiento constrictivos, proponen experiencias de resistencia o rebeldía). La investigación también muestra cómo suelen derivarse efectos reales de operaciones estéticas, con lo cual dicho ámbito aparece como una esfera tanto de conocimiento como de acción, exhibiendo así una muy seria dimensión política.
