Abstract
This article is about spirit possession in Cuban Santería and how the relationship between an orisha and their devotee reveals an unstable gender identity that avails itself to trans* studies. Taking an ethnographic scene from the work of Aisha M. Beliso-De Jesús, wherein a female devotee named Belkis is possessed by her male orisha Changó, this article argues that Santería offers a genderqueer way of understanding the relationship between gods and humans. It makes use of Jack Halberstam's differentiation between "trans*" and "trans," in which the former allows for myriad gender identities and contradictions that the stability of "trans" might otherwise seek to concretize. The modification of "transatlantic" to "trans* Atlantic" allows for a consideration of the fluidity of genders and sexuality that is often missed in black Atlantic studies and highlights the important role of religion in gender and black Atlantic studies.

Sunday schools, vacation church schools, summer camps and conferences, released time, and church-related elementary and secondary day schools are the principal programs for religious instruction in the United States today. A trend toward more nonpublic schools on the elementary and secondary levels can be observed. An opposite trend can be observed in higher education. Organized attempts are being made to co-ordinate efforts in religious education made in the home and by mass communications media with the efforts of the churches and the major faiths. In a broad sense, no institution which permits or encourages the discussion of ultimate values is without a religious aspect. The public schools, therefore, are brought within the pale of the discussion of religion and education. An intelligent appraisal of the needs of the United States for religious education, narrowly or broadly understood, requires answers to questions which have not yet been researched.
The study aimed to identify the Jewish feminism and Christian feminism, to address the similarities and differences between feminism in the two religions, and to highlight the most important reasons that called for their emergence. After research and comparison, the researcher found that Jewish feminism is clearly consistent with Christian feminism, especially in the fundamental reasons and motives that led to the emergence of feminist thought in both religions, and in achieving the results of each of them on the religious, social, cultural and political levels. The differences are almost nonexistent and the difference is due to the emergence of each.

We also tried to problematize both the civil religion and the public space concepts departing from the gestation of a new religious horizon shaped by the confrontation between Pentecostals and Afro-Brazilians. Key words: Religion; Politics; Neo-pentecostalism; Afro-Brazilians.
