"THE WAY FORWARD challenges conventional thinking, outlines his political vision for 2014 and beyond, and shows how essential conservatism is for the future of our nation. Beginning with a careful analysis of the 2012 election--including a look at the challenge the GOP had in reaching a majority of voters and the prevalence of identity politics--Ryan examines the state of the Republican party and dissects its challenges going forward. THE WAY FORWARD also offers a detailed critique of not only President Obama but of the progressive movement as a whole--its genesis, its underlying beliefs and philosophies, and how its policies are steering the country to certain ruin. Culminating in a plan for the future, THE WAY FORWARD argues that the Republican Party is and must remain a conservative party, emphasizing conservatism in a way that demonstrates how it can modernize and appeal to both our deepest concerns and highest ideals. "Erik J. Engstrom offers a historical perspective on the effects of gerrymandering on elections and party control of the U.S. national legislature. Aside from the requirements that districts be continuous and, after 1842, that each select only one representative, there were few restrictions on congressional districting. Unrestrained, state legislators drew and redrew districts to suit their own partisan agendas. With the rise of the "one-person, one-vote" doctrine and the implementation of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, however, redistricting became subject to court oversight. Engstrom evaluates the abundant cross-sectional and temporal variation in redistricting plans and their electoral results from all the states, from 1789 through the 1960s, to identify the causes and consequences of partisan redistricting. His analysis reveals that districting practices across states and over time systematically affected the competitiveness of congressional elections; shaped the partisan composition of congressional delegations; and, on occasion, determined party control of the House of Representatives"--

Buna bağlı olarak, 2000'lere kadarki dönemde etkili kullanılamayan yumuşak güç, Putin'in iktidara gelmesiyle beraber Latin Amerika dahil birçok bölgede aktif hale gelmiştir. ; The discipline of international relations, which started to be questioned with the phenomenon of globalization that took place in the 1990s, started to produce new concepts. Among these new concepts, Joseph Nye's soft power has offered alternative methods to actors in the international arena for interest maximization. Soft power, fed by spiritual resources such as culture, political values and foreign policy, has attracted the attention of many giants. In this sense, the Russian Federation, which is one of the states that adopt soft power, tries to use this type of power towards the Eurasian geography, Latin America, Africa and other similar regions. This study aims to determine the soft power understanding of the country and measure the effect of this power in Latin America. The American Technological Challenge - Stagnation and Decline in the 21st Century refutes the myth that we live in the most innovative of times. Inventions themselves are only one of the factors that determine the technological fate of a society. Sometimes, inventions are adopted, and eagerly; sometimes not. The history of technological progress, and the historical and societal factors that impel or restrain the adoption of inventions, are explored in the book.
