У дослідженні здійснено системний аналіз діяльності Попівської академії як феномену освітнього життя Слобідської України кінця ХVІІІ – початку ХІХ ст. Автори характеризують політичні, соціально-економічні, культурно-освітні умови діяльності Попівської академії як просвітницького гуртка місцевої інтелігенції; характеризують особистість засновника академії – Олександра Паліцина, як відомого просвітника, архітектора, перекладача, культурного і суспільного діяча свого краю. З'ясовано систему ціннісних пріоритетів членів Попівської академії, яка включала теоцентричні, соціоцентричні та антропоцентричні вектори ціннісного спрямування. Висвітлення об'єктивних результатів діяльності Попівської академії дозволяє авторам говорити про неї не як про пересічний помісний культурний осередок, а як про видатний феномен освітнього простору нашої батьківщини. ; The research carried out a systematic analysis of the activities of the Academy as a phenomenon of the educational life of Slobidska Ukraine late XVIII - early XIX century. The authors characterize the political, socio-economic, cultural and educational conditions of the Popivka Academy as an educational circle of local intelligentsia; characterize the personality of the founder of the academy - Alexander Palitsyn, as a well-known enlightener, architect, translator, cultural and public figure of the region. The system of value priorities of the members of the Popivka Academy, which included theocentric, sociocentric and anthropocentric vectors of value orientation, was elucidated. The objective results of the Popivka Academy allows authors to speak about it not as an ordinary regional cultural center, but as a prominent phenomenon of the national educational area.

"American Colonial Spaces in the Philippines tells the story of US colonialists who attempted, in the first decades of the twentieth century, to build an enduring American empire in the Philippines through the production of space. "The Sociology of Greed examines crises in financial institutions such as banks from the vantage point of the greed of the people at their helm. It offers an intensive analysis of the banking crises under conditions of colonial capitalism in early twentieth-century Bengal that led to institutional and social collapse. Breaking new ground, the book looks at the moral economy of capitalism and money culture by focusing on the victims of banking crises, hitherto unexplored in Western empirical research. The Puerto Rican debt crisis, the challenges of social, political, and economic transition in Cuba, and the populist politics of Duterte in the Philippines—these topics are typically seen as disparate experiences of social reality. Though these island territories were colonized by the same two colonial powers—by the Spanish Empire and, after 1898, by the United States—research in the fields of history and the social sciences rarely draws links between these three contexts. Located at the intersection of Postcolonial Studies, Latin American Studies, Caribbean Studies, and History, this interdisciplinary volume brings together scholars from the US, Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Philippines to examine the colonial legacies of the three island nations of Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines. Instead of focusing on the legacies of US colonialism, the continuing legacies of Spanish colonialism are put center-stage. The aftermath of World War II sent thousands of Estonian refugees into Europe. The years of Estonian independence (1917-1940) had given them a taste of freedom and so relocation to displaced person (DP) camps in post-war Germany was extremely painful. One way in which Estonians dealt with the chaos and trauma of WWII and its aftermath was through choral singing. Just as song festivals helped establish national identity in 1869, song festivals promoted cultural cohesiveness for Estonians in WWII displaced person camps. A key turning point in hope for the Estonian DPs was the 1947 Augsburg Song Festival, which is the center point of this book. As Estonian DPs dispersed to Australia, Canada, Europe, and the United States these choirs and song festivals gave Estonians the resilience to retain their identity and to thrive in their new homes. This history of Estonian WWII DP camp choirs and song festivals is gathered from the stories of many courageous individuals and filled with the tenacious spirit of the Estonian singing culture. This work contributes to an understanding of immigration, identity, and resilience and is particularly important within the field of music regarding music and healing, music and identity, historical musicology, ethnomusicology, and music and politics.

This article proposes to reassess Hayek's theory of cultural evolution in the light of Darwin's Descent of Man. It is shown that Hayek and Darwin refers to the same theory of human nature, which is borrowed from the founding fathers of political economy, Hume and Smith. Their respective conceptions of order, as well as the mechanisms and the product of evolution, are then the consequence of this theory of human nature.

Empirical findings based on cluster analysis confirm the existence of six influential factor groups and the intergroup interdependency and provides a fundamental explanation for the effect of factors' combination. The political system has an influence over the economic system, which impacts accounting development, the reporting and disclosure system required by users. The connection between legal and economic factors decided the type of accounting legal system. Socio-cultural factors affected the accounting policies and decided accountancy's progress, closely linked to the educational factor whose strong influence impacted the accounting theory and practice.
