Purpose – The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of characteristics of the institutionalenvironment on the disclosure of corporate social responsibility (CSR).Design/methodology/approach – This is a quantitative and descriptive research. The dependent variablesused were environmental dimension (ED) and social dimension (SD) that together compose the corporate socialperformance (CSP). The independent variables that will be used are the characteristics of the institutionalenvironments of Brazil and the UK. Thus, for this end, variables of the national business system of both countrieswill be used: corruption transparency, access to credit by countries, quality of the education system and laborrelations. After their collection, the data were submitted to descriptive and inferential statistics and hierarchicalregression.Findings – Data show that UK companies make more disclosure in CSR than Brazilian companies. Throughlinear regression, it can be seen that the institutional environment affects disclosure in CSR. In the UK, a countrywith better educational, labor, political and financial indicators than Brazil, it presented better CSR practices. Thefindings reveal that the better an institutional environment, the more firms act in CSR. The findings of the researchconfirm the premise of institutional theory: different institutional fields can modify business performance.Research limitations/implications – The study analyzed only the disclosure practices of companies in thepublic sector. Thus, the results should be carefully analyzed, without generalizations for all industry sectors.Therefore, it is suggested that future research looks at other industry sectors as well as other institutionalcontexts, i.e. other countries.Practical implications – Multinational companies may have different CSR practices according to theinstitutional environment in which they operate. For example, companies in developed countries, such as theUK, have greater stakeholder pressure. Given this, managers must adapt their environmental strategiesaccording to the institutional environment in which they operate.Originality/value – This research contributes to CSR studies in various institutional contexts. The practice of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the Middle East is explored in this volume, through a unique compilation of data and perspectives from authors living and working in the region. The authors demonstrate how the long-entrenched traditions of philanthropy and generosity in Arab culture have been reinvigorated in recent years and are starting to cross-fertilize with new and more institutionalized forms of giving, advocated through advances pertaining to CSR. Using a variety of cases, this book ponders the multiple facets of CSR in the region, including philanthropy, strategic giving, social entrepreneurship, internal CSR and responsible human resource management practices, effective CSR integration in SMEs, corporate environmental responsibility and its evolution, CSR reporting and lingering challenges in this respect. It also considers the relevance and applicability of CSR to a wider spectrum of societal actors and institutions. The contributions nicely capture and reiterate commitment to CSR in the Middle East.

Consequently, employees will take more interest and initiative in the work assigned. They will feel that they are the vital element of the organization and the organization belongs to them. This will generate the sense of belongingness and loyalty towards the organization. The peaceful co-existence of people from different levels of management can create pleasant and harmonious atmosphere in the organization. The purpose of the study is to investigate how the strong and efficient top level management of the organization can contribute in encouraging social harmony in the workplace. The paper took into account the positive strategies adopted by top management for promoting social harmony in the organization and its implication on the employees, productivity and the economy of the organization. The research methodology is based on the secondary data which include compilation of research article of the experts in the field and the reflections of the essays and article published in the websites. Abstract
CSR reporting in China is attracting unprecedented attention. In 2009, 582 CSR reports were published, 3.44 times the 169 published in 2008, in a "wellspring'' increasing trend. While China's reports comprised roughly 5% of all those published globally, China's share surged to 15% in 2009.
The overall quality of CSR reports in China is not high. Roughly half are still in their beginning phases and lack breadth and depth in the information reported. The coverage rate of various indicators is low, as is the degree to which reports adhere to international reporting standards. They still fell short on responding to the concerns of stakeholders and embodying company's values. China's CSR reports are also markedly weaker both in terms of report quality and the composition of the entities on which reports were produced. Still, there is enormous potential for China's CSR reports. In coming years, we fully expect the number published to sustain its rapid increase, the quality to improve greatly, and we expect these reports to be served as a common international language among corporations, in which their corporate values can be expressed.

ABSTRACTThe objective of this work is to analyse the scientific production in the Web of Science database of the ISI Web of Knowledge, from 2007 to 2019, through a quantitative descriptive bibliometric study, seeking to identify the authors, the types of documents, the title of the sources, the main thematic areas, the year of the publications, the institutions, the languages and countries of these publications, totalling 540 selected articles, focusing on the China. About ninety-one and eighty-five percent of the papers are published in English, with the Journal of Sustainable Tourism and Sustainability as the main source, and main subject Social Sciences other Topics. It was also found that in the twenty two publications with the highest number of citations, being a reference in the subject researched, the author Xavier Font, one of the ten most published on the subject in the period, was the third most cited on the Web of Science, with 127 citations when analyzing the areas Tourism and Social Responsibility simultaneously.Keywords: Bibliometry, tourism, social responsibility. RESUMOO objetivo deste trabalho é analisar a produção científica na base de dados Web of Science da ISI Web of Knowledge, no período de 2007 a 2019, através de um estudo bibliométrico do tipo quantitativo descritivo, procurando identificar os autores, os tipos de documentos, o título das fontes, as principais áreas temáticas, o ano das publicações, as instituições, os idiomas e países destas publicações, totalizando 414 artigos selecionados, centrando-se na China. Cerca de noventa e dois por cento das publicações estão escritas no idioma inglês, tendo como principal fonte o Journal of Sustainable Tourism and Sustainability e principal assunto Social Sciences other Topics. Nas vinte e duas publicações com o maior número de citações, sendo uma referência no tema pesquisado, foi possível constatar que o autor Xavier Font, um dos dez que mais publicaram sobre o tema no período, foi o terceiro mais citado na Web of Science, com 127 citações quando se analisa as áreas Tourism and Social Responsibility simultaneamente.Palavras-Chave: Bibliometria. PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to examine how firms build and develop corporate discourse in the field of corporate social responsibility (CRS). The paper has two main objectives: to clarify notions that are used when analyzing discourse; and to provide a qualitative methodology to analyze how the discourse is used to construct a CRS strategy.Design/methodology/approachThe paper presents a qualitative methodology, deconstructing four CRS reports using a story‐telling approach.FindingsThe analysis shows that firms construct their environment while marketing the report on social responsibility, in order to make of it an asset in an institutional communication system.Research limitations/implicationsFurther attention should be devoted to the specificity of qualitative approach and to discourse analysis (selection of the corpus, validity and triangulation, etc.).Originality/valueThe paper shows how discourse can be used to provide competitive advantage. It also provides a clear framework while using discourse analysis and identifies the major pitfalls that should be avoided when using such a methodology.

Legal responsibility represents an important component of social responsibility, together with ethical responsibility, ecological responsibility, economical responsibility and philanthropic responsibility. The integration of social responsibility into the activity of business operators in the Member states of European Union is pursued at European Union level. The article analyses the opinion of the Brasov city citizens, in the framework of a marketing research performed in 2015, as regards the possibility that legal instruments should influence a socially responsible behavior for public or private business operators. The aspects analysed for business operators in Romania can represent a model for other European Union states as well.

What responsibilities do individuals have for global injustices, such as sweatshop labour? Iris Marion Young sought to answer this question with her "social connection model" of responsibility. She argues that all individuals "connected" to structural injustice share political responsibility (as opposed to moral or legal responsibility) to collectively struggle against it. The theory was inspired by the anti-sweatshop movement, which recognised that consumers felt responsible for the working conditions of distant garment workers, even though they do nothing morally wrong when purchasing clothes. The social connection model is intuitively appealing and popular because it can explain why there is a responsibility for structural injustices like sweatshop labour, which falls short of guilt and blame, and takes structure seriously. However, Young left several gaps in the theory. One such gap is that she does not explain what she means by "connection" to structural injustice. She does not explicitly tell us what kind of connection to structural injustice generates political responsibility for it. Three potential definitions of connection arise in Young's work – what I call existential, dependent and causal connection – but Young does not unpack or defend any version in detail. In this paper, I aim to clarify these different meanings of connection and assess their plausibility within Young's own framework. I argue that existential connection, while serving as inspiration for the "social connection model," does not fit the framework in which social connections give rise to responsibility for injustice and individuals reproduce structural injustice through their actions. I claim that dependent connection is problematic because if all agents bear responsibility for structural injustice, including the victims, then it is not only those who are dependent on structural injustice that bear political responsibility for it. Because of the high prevalence of dental disease and consequent need for dental care in the elderly, dentists are in frequent contact with the elderly, thus providing an opportunity for realizing their social obligation to become more involved in diagnosing and reducing elder abuse. Current estimates of the incidence of elder abuse in the US indicate that nearly 10% of the elderly population is affected, and this incidence rate is steadily increasing. Problems of vague definitions regarding abuse, elusiveness of the problem, and limited interest on the part of health care professionals may have deterred dentists from more involvement In the past. Apathy, tunnel vision, and vested interests of dental professionals may also contribute to the poor oral health of the elderly and consequently decrease the elders' quality of life. However, by developing a clear understanding of possible etiologies and by knowing physical and behavioral indicators of abuse, dentists can better fulfill their moral and social obligations and greatly reduce the incidence of elder abuse.
