This essay argues that a noncontingent, nonexclusionary notion of humanity's oneness—constituted through difference rather than denying it—provides a principled foundation for social renewal and repair at all social scales. This foundation of human oneness is essential to overcoming the insecure conceptual foundations of modern social identities and their injurious, conflict-engendering effects, as well as addressing the urgent challenges confronting the planet. In effect, given our species and planetary interconnectedness, processes of social regeneration from the local to the global must be congruent, undertaken simultaneously, and grounded in our noncontingent humanness. Building on the author's critique of the stultifying impact of racial and national modes of belonging in his Postnationalism Prefigured (2002), and in dialogue with the work of David Scott, Deborah Thomas, and other critics of the postcolonial Caribbean gathered for the symposium marking the book's twentieth anniversary, the essay discusses other closely interconnected historical legacies in Jamaica and the Caribbean—relatively low levels of trust and weak social institutions—that, along with race-thinking, hinder the reconstitution of social life.

The study planned to explore the perceptions of heads about the rapport between NTS and non NTS-based teachers. NTS was adopted in AJK in 2016 and gained popularity among the masses. People appreciate the government of AJK for this step. However, it is needed to study the impact of NTS in educational institutions. With this background, this significant talk of the town is explored in this research study. The study was executed in the district of Bagh Azad, Kashmir. The study was quantitative. There were heads, including AEOs, teachers, and students of the primary schools, who were the sample of the study. A total of 450 respondents were selected through convenient sampling. A tool developed by the researcher to collect the data. Experts validated this tool. The study finds that teachers recruited through the National Testing Service (NTS) are performing well as compared to non-NTS teachers. These teachers found disciplined, regular, and punctual to teach their classes. It is recommended that government of AJK should continue the NTS recruitment. This testing service proved to be a trust-building phenomenon among youth and the masses.

In the last decade, West Africa has experienced increased activities by Jihadist groups, especially after the fall of the Muammar Qaddafi regime in Libya in 2012. The activities of these groups have gradually spread in the region, with countries such as Mali and Burkina Faso experiencing continued attacks. Taking the current socio-economic, religious and political context of Senegal into consideration, this study interrogates the factors that have so far prevented attacks by Jihadist groups in Senegal, the role that women and youth could play in mitigating jihadism in Senegal, and how the existing social capital in the country, could be further mobilized to foster trust building and social cohesion, thereby enhancing the prevention of violent extremism in the country? Furthermore, the study explores the need for a regional approach in dealing with the existing and emerging threats posed by Jihadist activities in the region. Methodologically, this study uses interviews and Focus Group Discussions to collect primary data from government officials, academics, civil society and international development partners. Secondary data from a wide range of sources are used to analyze the case of Senegal.

In the context of on-going high rates of domestic abuse in England, the voluntary and community sector increasingly provides specialist domestic violence and abuse (DVA) services to support women in local community settings. This article discusses a qualitative evaluation of one programme, working to support females with mental health needs. A locally based support programme worked with women in one city in England over a two-year period; 34 service users, and eight professionals contributed to interviews and focus groups in support of the evaluation. Our framework analysis identified key themes using survivor voice in respect of the importance of trauma-informed support, adding to the evidence base about effective recovery work in the voluntary and community sector. The defining features of trauma-informed support, safety, trust, choice, collaboration and empowerment were evident in the service model, which led to positive outcomes for survivors who engaged with the programme. The model of provision discussed here is transferrable beyond the voluntary and community sector. Learning from the programme suggests that DVA services can focus on the mental health needs of survivors, using trauma-informed support to enhance recovery.

The study examines whether kumivstvo, godparenthood, with its, with its moral and spiritual cultural heritage in Ukrainian society, provides normative power from the bottom up rather than top down for maintaining solidarity in a polyethnic society in the face of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. A mixed methodology is employed, carried out by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology. The quantitative findings report how common kumivstvo is in Ukrainian society, what its density is among different faiths and in different regions, how important the kinship heritage is to Ukrainians today, and what the proportion of interethnic kumivstvo is. The qualitative interviews reveal to what degree Russia's invasion has desolated the trust and godparent connection between the Ukrainian and Russian peoples. There is immense strain on the integrity of these relationships; however, for some it is imaginable that these bonds may not only endure, but also revive afterward. The study asks whether Ukraine will lose an essential social structure and kinship custom that sustains its cultural hybridity when interethnic kumivstvo becomes unviable after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

U.S. policy towards the PKK, a designated Foreign Terror Organization, has
varied significantly over four decades, reflecting a clear periodization based
on pragmatic policy interests and the interplay of U.S. actions and Turkish
responses. Washington has over time supported Turkish counter-PKK actions
without direct involvement; actively supported Turkish counter-PKK efforts;
tolerated or tacitly supported PKK activities; and directly instrumentalized
and supported the PKK in Syria and regionally. Washington's evolving stance
toward the PKK coincided with the rise of Al Qaeda (AQ) and its offshoot, the
Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) as the focus of U.S. Middle East policy.
The evolution reflected an incremental approach that subordinated U.S.-Turkish
relations and other regional problems to the campaign against AQ/IS. Bilateral
cooperation suffered as incrementalism, low trust, and transactionalism came to
characterize the relationship. This paper examines the history, current dynamics,
and possible future trajectory of U.S. PKK policy as a problem in U.S.-Turkish
bilateral relations.

Corporate reputation has gained significant attention within academic circles and emerged as a critical concern in practical business contexts. However, prior studies on this topic have been somewhat fragmented, creating fertile ground for exploring new research avenues, particularly in assessing reputation. Sustainability reporting, corporate governance, and company attributes have been associated with enhancing corporate reputation. Nevertheless, there remains a dearth of research exploring these variables' impact on the novel reputation measurement proxy, especially in emerging economies like Malaysia. Therefore, this study investigates the intricate relationship between sustainability reporting and corporate reputation using the new proxy of reputation in the context of Malaysia, a dynamic and rapidly growing economy. Balancing the 'Green' aspects of sustainability with the 'Gold' aspects of company performance and reputation is a pivotal concern for organizations in the region. The results showed sustainability reporting significantly impacts corporate reputation to sustain a harmonious equilibrium characterized by "Green" and "Gold" elements. The findings encourage Malaysian PLCs to navigate this duality successfully and can reap long-term benefits regarding reputation, stakeholder trust, and sustainable profitability.

AbstractWith the advancements in digital technologies, notions such as aging in place have gained currency. But, next to technical issues concerning the extent to which full-blown aging in place is possible, philosophical and ethical questions have been also raised. An important dimension of the digitalization of healthcare is how would aging look to both older adults and the public in the wake of such systems. In this article, I will suggest integrating postphenomenology into Age Studies to explore how aging comes to be conceptualized. An advantage of postphenomenology is that it is anchored in a first-person perspective, and in this sense, it may be a perfect fit to enhance our awareness about the impacts of the digitalization of health on older adults from their own point of view. I will also argue that postphenomenlogy can throw light on digital technologies in their actual use. This may help researchers go beyond merely exploring conditions of use and adoption implemented through notions such as usability, trust, privacy, dignity, and the like, and gain knowledge of how users' relationship with their surroundings reconfigures after exposure to digital assistive technologies.

The Asian Rural Institute (ARI)—a Christian, sustainable, nonprofit farm in Tochigi, Japan—keeps a strict schedule to ensure equality in job distribution and duration. Staff, participants, and volunteers must relinquish some control over their time and be present to do this work, two conditions that illuminate the privilege that many scholars have in their daily lives. As qualitative researcher, I was aware of some privileges that I brought with me but had not considered control over my work schedule one of them, until I was volunteering and researching at ARI. Implied in scholars' work schedules are time ontologies, which are culturally and contextually specific. Time is both material and conceptual, meaning that although a day has a fixed length (a material condition), the way that we break up the day into hours and regions of the world into time zones, for example, is a product of thought and communication. With abstraction and standardization come issues of power and control. For researchers who work with communities in the field, it is worth considering time's complexities to help navigate issues, such as power, ethics, relationships, research sites, and trust.

AbstractAccording to government data, there is a slow decline in foster care in Italy, especially for teenagers, caused by an insufficient number of available foster families. The need to provide an intense stimulus to foster care is evident. This study conducted individual qualitative interviews with 126 foster parents of teenagers, transcribed and analysed using Atlas.ti software. Valuable indications for social services were individuated. The importance of the foster parents' intrinsic motivations and the suggestion for social services to emphasize them in the recruitment campaigns were reaffirmed. The appropriateness of directing the proposal towards foster parents with previous experience in parenting, foster parenting or working with teenagers was also confirmed. Additionally, results revealed that foster parents connected to foster parents' associations/networks and religious groups are preferred. The importance of the relationship between foster parents and social services and suitable support for the ongoing fostering is pivotal. Establishing a relationship based on trust and the diffusion of the foster care invitation through testimonies and word‐of‐mouth was also highlighted. The initiatives promoting spaces and occasions for teens needing foster care and potential candidates for fostering to meet them have promising outcomes.

AbstractEmerging health crises challenge and overwhelm federal political systems (Greer et al. 2020, Global Public Health 15: 1413–6). Within the context of COVID-19, states and governors took charge in the absence of a coordinated federal response. The result was uneven policy responses and variance in health-related and economic outcomes. While existing research has explored public evaluations of state COVID-19 policies, we explore primary care physicians' trust in state government for handling the pandemic, as well as their evaluations of their state government's treatment responsibility for the pandemic and their state's policy response. We find that general preferences for the role of the federal/state government in addressing the pandemic are shaped by individual-level physician partisanship. Specific evaluations of state policy responsiveness are influenced by whether physicians' partisan preferences matched their governor. We also find, however, that Republican physicians were critical of Republican governors and physicians were less partisan than the general public. At least within public health, there are limits to the influence of partisan identity on expert (physician) political evaluations.

Abstract
What happens among intelligence communities when two countries face a diplomatic crisis? This article looks at the interactions between the West German Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz (BfV) and Israel's Mossad in a multilateral liaison called the Club de Berne after the Munich Olympics attack in September 1972. The article shows that these covert links were a means to overcome the crisis and served different functions for each side. For the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG), which had been severely criticized after giving in to terrorist pressure, the BfV tried to prove to Israel its value as a security asset. For Israel, the Club de Berne allowed Mossad to send a covert message that aimed to pressure the FRG into a no-negotiation line. For both, the agencies could build on preexisting relations based on trust in the Club de Berne, which helped with the normalization process after the crisis. Although diplomatic and domestic policies after the Munich attack are well known, the intelligence dimension has thus far not been explored. The article offers a new way of thinking about covert diplomacy in theory and practice.

The end of the 1960s and the 1970s were the years when the social, political and administrative events experienced for the whole world were criticized in the name of democracy. These years were also a period in which the American public administration was not qualified to respond to the conditions of the period, social welfare was not distributed fairly, the ongoing poverty, violence, racism, and gender-based inequality in the society were discussed, and the decreasing trust in institutions and its traditionality were questioned. One of the important names of this period of interrogation is Vincent Ostrom. While Ostrom included his criticisms of traditional public administration in his work titled "Intellectual Crisis in American Public Administration" published in 1973, he advocates polycentrism against a single-centered hierarchical administration. Ostrom's idea of polycentricity and his search for democratic governance is the subject of this study. The study accepts that Ostrom's concept of polycentricity and democratic administration thought are compatible with the governance model and form the basis for the governance process. In addition, the study aims to clarify the relatively little discussed "Vincent Ostrom framework" in the Turkish literature.

The utilization of blockchain technology (BT) has arisen as a viable remedy for tackling crucial challenges in financial system (bitcoin) and the healthcare sector, including data security, interoperability, and transparency. The integration of BT in the healthcare industry has significant promise, but it is a complex process that is impacted by several variables. This systematic review seeks to provide a thorough comprehension of the models, obstacles, and forthcoming research pertaining to the use of BT in the healthcare sector. The paper examines the fundamental ideas and models that are crucial in comprehending the implementation of BT in the healthcare sector. The theories encompassed in this list are the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Innovation Diffusion Theory, Trust and Transparency Theories. These theories together provide a systematic framework for evaluating the process of adoption. The systematic review results provide an overview of the present state of blockchain implementation in the healthcare sector. The challenges that have been highlighted include obstacles related to regulations, difficulties in achieving interoperability, concerns over data privacy, and the need for a strong and reliable infrastructure. Furthermore, the advantages of using BT, including heightened data protection and increased healthcare services.

AbstractIn contemporary policy discourses, data are presented as key assets for improving health‐care quality: policymakers want health care to become 'data driven'. In this article, we focus on a particular example of this ambition, namely a new Danish national quality development program for general practitioners (GPs) where doctors are placed in so‐called 'clusters'. In these clusters, GPs are obliged to assess their own and colleagues' clinical quality with data derived from their own clinics—using comparisons, averages and benchmarks. Based on semi‐structured interviews with Danish GPs and drawing on Science and Technology Studies, we explore how GPs understand these data, and what makes them trust—or question—a data analysis. The GPs describe how they change clinical practices based on these discussions of data. So, when and how do data for quality assurance come to influence their perceptions of quality? By exploring these issues, we carve out a role for a sociological engagement with evidence in everyday medical practices. In conclusion, we suggest a need to move from the aim of being data driven to one of being data informed.
