This article presents an exploratory study of the current status of public relationsin Spain on the basis of elements and indicators applied to other countries in thestudy The Global Public Relations Handbook (2009). Spain is one of the most notableabsentees from the study; this article therefore fills a hole in current public relationsresearch and theory. The conclusion is that Spain is a country that has undergoneradical change, from a dictatorship to one of the world's most democratic systems,substantially transforming its economic system, its culture and its society. Thistransformation has had a crucial effect on the practice of those professions whichhave freedom of expression as their legal foundation; one such example is publicrelations, which has grown from an emerging industry into an established profession

The article deals with the problems of administrative and territorial system and the processes of decentralization in France. The author examined the system of administrative and territorial structure of France at various stages of its development, in particular from the moment of its formation to the present. In parallel, the article analyzes the significance and influence of the processes of decentralization of power on the administrative and territorial system of the coun- try in general and on administrative reforms in particular. As a result, it is argued that the system of administrative and territorial organization in France is mature and stable, while it is capable of dynamic changes within the system, such as changing the number of its units, etc.

This paper assesses the transformation of the Chinese business community in Portugal in result of the interaction between China's 'Go Global' policy and the impact of the 2008/2009 global crisis. It analyses the small-business community's coping strategies; the impact of recent large-scale Chinese direct investments; and changes to Portuguese immigration laws. It concludes that the small-business community adopted pro-active coping strategies and re-assessed its insertion patterns in the local and global economy. Within the large-scale business segment, a dualistic community structure emerged. The community became more heterogeneous and complex, less cohesive, and more internationalised beyond the single European market. ; The MPC is co-financed by the European University Institute and the European Union

Autorka podejmuje analizę procesu legitymizacji współczesnych elit społeczeństwa rosyjskiego. Formułuje tezę, że zachodzące zmiany polityczne we współczesnej Rosji pozwalają na różne możliwości adaptacji. Najczęściej wybieraną drogą są próby włączania się w struktury, mających charakter większościowy, organizacji religijnych. Konsekwencją tych tendencji jest formowanie się proreligijnej polityki wyznaniowej państwa. ; The author undertakes an analysis of the process of legitimization of contemporary elite of Russian society. The author formulates the thesis that the political changes taking place in contemporary Russia allows the different possibilities of adaptation. The most popular way is an attempt to join in the structures religious organizations, which have character of majority. The consequence of these trends is formation a pro-religious of the state religious policy.

Cities have undergone many changes since the 1950s, not least the expansion of urban areas to the detriment of the historic central areas, some of which have been left to decay. In Portugal the most visible results of this phenomenon are found in the metropolitan areas of Lisbon and Porto. To address this problem, the Portuguese Government conceived the first legal instrument for urban regeneration in 2004 which allows the local administrations to form publicly owned companies?urban regeneration companies (SRUs) to actively endorse urban regeneration in historic city centres. This paper discusses the activities of the Porto Vivo SRU, one of these companies created in Porto, in the context of the Portuguese milieu of urban regeneration and evaluates Porto Vivo's operation.

With rich and unique religious cultural resources, Chongqing develops its religious cultural tourism in a colorful content, but such problems that religious cultural tourism hasn't taken off in a big way, lack of brand, lack of cultural connotation, and lack of resources integration, etc. still exist. Therefore, it is suggested that the government should change ideas, understand and plan Chongqing religious cultural tourism from the perspective of macro-tourism, integrate various resources and plan management as a whole. At the same time, the religious circles should also play an important role in religious cultural tourism, pay attention to build religious cultural tourism projects with Chongqing characteristics, and work together to promote the healthy development of religious cultural tourism in Chongqing.

This paper critically assesses the empirical evidence on the relationship between immigration and African American employment. Studies using various methodologies and data are reviewed: natural experiments, time series, and cross-sectional studies of local labor markets and intertemporal changes in the national labor market. We find that for African Americans as a whole, immigration may have little effect on mean wages and probability of employment. However, there is some evidence that immigration may have had an adverse impact on the labor market outcomes of African Americans belonging to low education-experience groups. However, even this modest conclusion must be qualified: the literature has many unresolved econometric issues that might easily undermine the received wisdom.

Women and nature are connected in many different ways: with their biological
status, reproductive role, discrimination. That is why ecofeminism stands for
one of the main theoretical, philosophical and even practical ways of
resolving the environmental problems. The representatives of this thinking
find that changing positions and behaviors by leaving the patriarchal
approach to everything - to the women and to the nature, can stop the
degradation of the environment. Demographic significance of the women?s role,
in context of environmental changes, was represented by some feminist
movements, as Chipko movement in India, Green Belt movement in Kenya, Love
Canal in State of New York, etc. In this paper, the author gives a short
overview of connections between women and nature, and proposes some new
solutions.

The article is a retrospective of the theoretical research of the sociologist Slobodan Antonic dedicated to evolution and strengthening of two important social (political) movements: radical-feminist and -LGBT. Contesting the scientific-methodological basis of theories that 'explain' them, the author emphasizes the importance of the neoliberal ideological platform on which these theories and derived movements are based. At the same time, numerous dangers that social engineering for which their members plead for are pointed out. Regardless the radical changes of social consciousness, social values and power relations in the contemporary society for which these movements plead for, they actually represent pro-systematic movements that help in preservation of neoliberal capitalism with their demands.

Imitating the best strategy from the previous period has been shown to be an important heuristic, in particular in relatively complex environments. In this experiment we test whether subjects are more likely to use imitation if they are under stress. Subjects play a repeated Cournot oligopoly. Treatments are time pressure within the task and distractions through a second task (a Stroop-task) that has to be performed as well and influences payment. We measure stress levels through salivary cortisol and heart rate. Our main findings are that time pressure and distraction can indeed raise physiological stress levels of subjects within our task. More importantly from an economic perspective, we can also observe a corresponding behavioral change that is indicative of imitation. (author's abstract)

"Based on biographical narrative interviews with three migrant women, the article discusses how migration experiences can lead to a reflection of gender roles. In the three cases, there are various motivations for migration, different family arrangements and work experiences throughout the migration process, and also a change of roles of the women within their families. For the interview partners, the access to material resources achieved partly under great sacrifice and the possibility to compare different life contexts and gender regimes triggered an ambivalent process of reflection on gender relations. Their reorganization of gender relations can be rather incomplete or require strong legitimization upon return; it can also be transmitted as a project for the next generation to complete." This paper examines the challenges faced by British policy makers in years preceding the 1973 oil crisis. Despite an acute appreciation of the impending changes to the structure of the international oil industry, British officials were unable to formulate new policies to mitigate the impact of this changing situation. The inability or unwillingness of policy makers to act stemmed from three interconnected factors: the Government's desire to transition away from its reliance on its two domestically-based oil companies, BP and Shell, for oil policy information and advice, Government confusion over how best to utilize the newfound resources of the North Sea, and a lack of clear lines of authority within the Government regarding oil policy decision-making.

Si bien el conflicto armado interno parece haber llegado a un punto crítico, abriéndose espacio una importante negociación del conflicto armado interno que lleva más de 50 años, entre las Farc-Ep y el Gobierno de Colombia, es necesario ahondar en torno al papel de la participación de la población, quienes de manera real, expanden y complejizan los antagonismos; es el pueblo quien en últimas demostrarán la capacidad para promocionar y consolidar el cambio, pues si así no se asume, las actuales negociaciones no redundará en un cambio real, iniciándose otros ciclos de guerra, la profundización de los conflictos territoriales, ambientales, sociales, económicos, políticos, como ya ha ocurrido en la dolorosa historia de Colombia.

Revolving around the gap between the emic judgement that corruption cannot be eliminated and the etic attempts to bring this elimination about, this paper looks at the ontological preconditions of Luo politics in western Kenya and the way in which these render both the objective measurement and the eradication of corruption impossible. By taking the statements of people on the ground seriously, the paper aims to expose the Eurocentric mind-set that lies at the heart of most discourses on corruption. Unless we expect the Luo to change the way in which they conceptualize sociality, our only course is to embrace corrupt behaviour - which goes to prove that cooperation is sometimes obliged to follow rather curious paths.
