В статье рассматриваются философско-религиозные идеи и ценности эпохи раннего христианства с точки зрения их антропологической и социальной значимости для современного российского общества. ; The article deals with the philosophical and religious ideas and values of the early Christianity in terms of their anthropological and social importance for the modern Russian society. Greek-Byzantine patristic's religious concepts are presented as civilizational cultural norms that can act as a moral secular basis in process of forming a Russian civic nation. The nation is seen by the author as a political (civic) community of people, regardless of their ethnicity and ethno-cultural identity.

The article reconstructs sociocultural genealogy of the process of childhood medicalization. The author reveals a social context that causes the establishment of medical regulation of various phenomena of a child's existence as a norm in the contemporary European culture; some global anthropological effects of the regulation are demonstrated. Reconstructing the origin of childhood medicalization from the culture of charity institutions, the author determines interrelations between the modern project of children's health protection and the process of control of children's existence's marginal phenomena and defines some existential consequences of the typical for the present medico-technological identity of childhood.

Quantitative studies of tax and court records have suggested that medieval Italian marriage negotiations involved a powerful older groom who might easily dominate his much younger bride. This article complicates this picture by qualitatively analyzing two marriage disputes from fourteenth-century Lucca featuring young boys depicted as passive victims of arranged marriages and forced consent. These unwilling grooms, who lacked the power and agency belonging to the average medieval Italian man, reveal that litigants and their representatives constructed the identity of unwilling grooms from a palette of options relying on the intersection of age, gender, and social status.

Critical education model is an education that independent from internal-institutional fetter, social hegemony, or structured to maintain political and economical stability. These happen in the length of our national history, then produce tame-weak human accorded to system condition. Whereas, education is human right, even people right to enhance its maturity, self-identity, and independence to serve his function to his God. .

This volume showcases a broad range of approaches to understanding change in the MENA region. Our authors come from diverse theoretical backgrounds, including international relations, political economy, social movement theory, identity politics and gender studies. Moreover, the volume's chapters discuss an array of countries, events, actors and issues. The theme of interpreting recent change is consistent throughout the text-indeed, one of the greatest strengths of this volume is that it provides an opportunity to dra~v connections across countries, disciplines and events. The volume is organised into three parts, each of which addresses important questions about change in the MENA region.

I would like to introduce Professor Joy Schaverien, PhD (GB), Professor Cathy Hyland Moon (USA) and Doctor Sheridan Linnell PhD (AUS). These panel participants come from three different continents, each with its own history of art therapy and state of theoretical and clinical development. The presenters will be putting their long-standing work in the field in context with their professional identity, which is embedded in each one's culture, social, political and therapeutic traditions. They will address their theoretical approaches, all grounded in art and the art-making process, psychoanalytic traditions and influences from postmodern perspectives such as feminist, critical, liberation, disability studies, and socially engaged art.

Published online: 22 May 2015 ; A theory of linguistic justice needs to take into account the three distinct values of language as a medium for communication, as a source of individual identity and as an instrument for political self-government. Doing so would undermine Van Parijs' claim that political borders and peoples should be downgraded to a purely instrumental role for purposes of social justice. But it would widen the scope of egalitarian global justice by including a universal right of individuals to membership self-governing polities and it could provide more solid theoretical foundations for his defence of coercive territorial language regimes.

There are social, educational and behavioral problems for African American students in Hawaii public schools. Utilizing Critical Race Theory as a lens for analysis, the perceptions and experiences of these students regarding race, ethnic identity, military lineage, and self-definition are addressed. A composite counterstory of the researcher's and 115 African American students' experiences and reflections is portrayed through two siblings' memoirs. The impact of the counterstory challenges readers to see similar themes, perceptions, and experiences of being Black, military- affiliated, and a student in Hawaii in a story format as all events are integrated into two experiences, one male and one female.

This paper presents managerial attempts at implementing telehealthcare. Our longitudinal, ethnographic case studies document both successful and failed implementations across five health and social care organisations in England. We draw on theories of organisational identity, sensemaking and sensegiving to highlight how managerial organisational identities can inhibit the uptake of digital health technologies. Managers who strongly identified with their current role at work felt threatened by the intended change; a telehealthcare mode of care delivery. When a strongly identified workforce agrees with this assessment, managerial and employee sensemaking and sensegiving coalesce, forming a united front of resistance that prevents further adoption of the innovation.

This article presents one of the first comprehensive reviews of intersectionality literature for a family studies audience. The purpose of this article is manifold: (1) to review the interdisciplinary scholarship on intersectionality as a theoretical approach, paradigm, or method; (2) to review methodological considerations using intersectionality as a theoretical guide to conduct research; and (3) to examine how contemporary family scholars are utilizing an intersectional approach to examine the complexities of identity, relational process, and social interactions with larger institutional forces. I conclude with an evaluation of the benefits and challenges of using an intersectional approach to the study of contemporary families.

ABSTRACTIn 2013, we see a clear continuation of certain themes noted in previous reviews, including economy, mobility, human–environment interactions, social complexity, identity, and power. There is a greater emphasis on comparative approaches but also a general move away from reductionist, macrosystemic models in anthropological archaeology, with studies emphasizing diversity, multiple pathways or trajectories, and variability in local responses. The fallout of the so‐called "postmodernist turn" continues to prompt lively debate, with methodological rigor being emphasized as well as the critical cross‐examination of our Western modes of inquiry, with some scholars considering the possibility of multiple truths in their theoretical interpretations of the past.

Among the numerous debates and discussions of development, the element of fear is rarely given explicit consideration. In this article, I review current development literature to demonstrate the incomplete treatment of fear, as it is often implicitly incorporated via discussions of security, power, identity, social cohesiveness or resistance. In the second part of this article, I utilize the case study of post-conflict Guatemala to examine how fear shapes, and is shaped by, development at multiple, overlapping scales. By elaborating on the complex interrelations between fear and development, this case study demonstrates the importance of directly engaging with fear in development analyses, particularly in post-conflict settings.

ABSTRACTThis article investigates newness and how it informs consumer practices. Past consumer research has primarily explored a technical sense of newness with attention to attribute novelty and consumer intrinsic factors for novelty seeking behavior. These studies, however, have not fully captured the culturally ambiguous and shifting meanings of newness. To address this oversight, this article explores newness as a liminal phase in the social and material life of objects. Our analysis unpacks the experiential and identity value of newness, identifies a set of practices consumers engage in to mediate newness, and discusses different modalities of newness.
