Die Analyse des Vordenkers Gene Sharp zum Thema "Regime Change" gilt als Blaupause für Bewegungen, die einen Politikwechsel anstreben. Eine Infragestellung des Systems ist dafür nicht notwendig. Aber strategisch denken muß, wer die politischen Leitgedanken innerhalb der bestehenden Ordnung fundamental verändern will. Whistleblowing erfährt inzwischen nicht mehr nur im öffentlichen Diskurs eine erhebliche Aufmerksamkeit. Whistleblowing-Einrichtungen sind vielmehr ein weit verbreitetes Instrument sowohl der staatlichen wie der unternehmens- und organisationsinternen Regulierung. Durch Einführung des Hinweisgeberschutzgesetzes liegt seit Mitte 2023 nunmehr auch in Deutschland ein übergreifendes Regelungswerk vor, das Whistleblowing in einer Reihe von verschiedenen geschützten Kanälen absichern und letztlich auch stimulieren will. Die damit einhergehenden (Interessen-)Konflikte werden hierdurch aber nicht vollständig geklärt. Auch wirft das Gesetz zahlreiche Implementierungsfragen auf, die der Diskussion und Klärung bedürfen. Vor diesem Hintergrund werden Whistleblowing und der darauf bezogene Rechtsstand in dem vorliegenden Buch aus einem außerordentlich weiten Spektrum an Perspektiven analysiert. Dazu zählen die demokratietheoretischen, verfassungsrechtlichen, rechtsvergleichenden und politischen Grundlagen des Hinweisgeberschutzgesetzes, aber auch die Untersuchung seiner unternehmens-, arbeits-, datenschutz- und strafrechtlichen Konsequenzen. Dies wird zudem für eine Reihe gesellschaftlicher Sektoren Unternehmen, Verwaltung und Polizei sowie Gesundheitswesen, Sport und Wissenschaft eigens vertieft. Informed by ongoing research, this exhibition catalogue published to accompany our exhibition Entangled Pasts, 1768-now, features the work of artists connected with the Academy in an exploration of migration, exchange, artistic traditions, identity and belonging. Contemporary and historic works are brought together as part of a conversation about art and its role in shaping narratives of empire, enslavement, resistance, abolition and colonialism, and how it may help set a course for the future. The life-size painted cut-out figures of Lubaina Himid's installation Naming the Money; Hew Locke's Armada, a flotilla of 'votive boats' recalling different periods and places; powerful paintings, photographs, sculptures, drawings and prints by Sonia Boyce, Frank Bowling, John Akomfrah, Isaac Julien, El Anatsui, Kerry James Marshall, Kara Walker, Shahzia Sikander, Mohini Chandra and Betye Saar; and historical works by artists such as Joshua Reynolds, J. "Across the world, a structural growth slowdown is underway: at current trends, global potential growth—the maximum growth the global economy can sustain over the longer term without igniting inflation—is expected to fall to a three-decade low over the remainder of the 2020s. Nearly all the forces that have powered growth and prosperity since the early 1990s have weakened. The growth rates of investment and total factor productivity are declining. The global labor force is aging, and expanding more slowly. International trade growth is much weaker now than it was in the early 2000s. In addition, a series of shocks has roiled the global economy over the past three years. A persistent and broad-based decline in long-term growth prospects imperils the ability of emerging market and developing economies to combat poverty, tackle climate change, and meet other key development objectives. These challenges call for an ambitious policy response at the national and global levels. The slowdown can be reversed by the end of the 2020s—if all countries replicate some of their best policy efforts of recent decades, including a major investment push grounded in robust macroeconomic frameworks. Understanding human behaviour, thoughts, and emotional expressions can be challenging in the global context. Due to cultural differences, the study of psychology cannot be de-contextualised. This calls for unearthing of the explanatory systems that exist in Africa to understand and account for behaviour, emotions, and cognition of Africans. This call is addressed through the emergence of African Psychology (AP) or Indigenous Psychology in Africa (IPA) as a legitimate science of human experience. This Element discusses the motivations for AP, centrality of culture, demarcations of AP, and the different strands within AP. It highlights issues related to African philosophy, African cultural anthropology, African philosophy of science, and suitable methodological approaches for AP research. It also discusses some selected theoretical contributions and applications of AP. The Element concludes that AP researchers and practitioners need to pursue interdisciplinarity and avoid meaningless rejection of good ideas from other cultural settings.

Nonviolence is celebrated and practiced around the world, as a universal 'method for all human conflict.' This Element describes how nonviolence has evolved into a global repertoire, a patterned form of contentious political performance that has spread as an international movement of movements, systematizing and institutionalizing particular forms of protest as best claims-making practice. It explains how the formal organizational efforts of social movement emissaries and favorable and corresponding global models of state and civic participation have enabled the globalization of nonviolence. The Element discusses a historical perspective of this process to illuminate how understanding nonviolence as a contentious performance can explain the repertoire's successes and failures across contexts and over time. The Element underscores the dynamics of contention among global repertoires and suggests future research more closely examines the challenges posed by institutionalization.
