Dialogues with Contemporary Political Theorists consists of a series of dialogues with pre-eminent contemporary political theorists that are undertaken by political theorists, who are currently interested in and engaged by their work. The dialogues deal with the influences upon and significant works of these major theorists as well as their views on the current state of political theory and the significant issues of contemporary politics. The political theorists who are the focus of these dialogues represent all major aspects of contemporary political theory, and are drawn from several areas of the globe. In the first part of his article, the author proposes to give an overview of the interaction between religion & politics on the Indian subcontinent & to describe the ambivalent role played by religion in the course of India's long history. In the second part, he concentrates on the rise of nationalistic, right-wing Hindu movements since the beginning of the 20th Century & describes their impact on Indian politics from the beginning of independence until the present day. In the end, Stephan Schlensog finds that the power of militant Hindu-nationalist movements depends very much on the economic situation in India. Therefore, the decisive question is whether or not an economic development can be facilitated that dries up the breeding-ground for nationalism & fundamentalism on the subcontinent. References. The Chief Financial Officers Act of 1990 and the Government Performance and Results Act of 1993, along with other legislation passed by Congress, are stimulating major financial management reform in the federal government. This article evaluates reform implementation against nine criteria developed in previous research on this topic. The criteria are accounting system adequacy, congressional intent, ability of Congress to use financial statement data, executive branch implementation incentives, capability of the Office of Management and Budget, utility of financial statements for decision making, use of performance measures in budgeting, coordination of federal organizations charged with implementation responsibility, and executive and congressional support for reform.
