AbstractFamilismo, or familism, an important Latino cultural construct associated with youth adjustment, describes the importance of family regarding support, comfort, and services. Increased research on familism among Latino families in the past decade has called for a theoretical process model of familism that can guide research on familism, family processes, and youth development. In this article, we propose the behavioral process model of familism (BPMF), which identifies proximal mechanisms through which familism is expected to promote youth psychological adjustment. Specifically, we propose that parenting behaviors (e.g., monitoring, discipline strategies) are a mechanism by which parent familism relates to youth familism and psychological adjustment both directly and via their familism‐consistent behaviors. We hypothesize direct and mediated pathways in the BPMF and consider how sociodemographic variables modify the described processes.

The influence of handrail height on the ability to generate stabilizing forces and moments was studied at two stairway pitches (41 and 49 deg). Two age groups were tested: young (20 to 45) and elderly (59 and over), with a total of 40 subjects. The results at the two stairway pitches were similar to results obtained previously at a pitch of 33 deg. With increasing handrail height, the ability to generate forward/backward forces and forward/backward moments increased linearly whereas the ability to generate upward force decreased linearly. Based on the results, optimal design values for handrail height were estimated for each stairway pitch.

AbstractThe aim of this paper is to analyze the influence of teachers' views of corporate reputation on behavioral outcomes in educational cooperatives. Educational cooperatives are social companies that must adequately manage their intangible assets to improve their competitiveness in the education sector. However, research on how teachers perceive corporate reputation is limited. Data was obtained through a survey of 101 teachers to test the research model proposed using path analysis. The findings highlight that teachers' views of corporate reputation in educational cooperatives have significant and positive effects on employee satisfaction, retention and perceived service quality. Likewise, employee satisfaction has significant effects on teacher retention and perceived service quality. Therefore, given that employee satisfaction is a relevant variable in an educational organization's operation, employees' views of corporate reputation can be used as a strategic tool to manage and improve organizational outcomes.

Anxiolytics (AX) are the psychotropic drugs prescribed for the treatment of anxiety and insomnia for 2–4 weeks, for longer periods of consumption (>1 month) may lead to the development of tolerance or addiction. In fact, its prescription was 16% of the total pharmaceutical expenditure in Spain in 2007. This paper deals with the development of a mathematical model describing the dynamic of the addiction to AX for the case study of the Spanish region of Castellón. The reasons believed to cause the development of addicts to AX are the economic situation, the marriage termination and the social contact. The simulations performed to forecast the addicts rate for the period 2010–2014 showed an increase from 6% in 2010 to 14% in 2014 with a fluctuation of about 2% between the possible economic scenarios. Finally, the analysis of sensitivity of the rate of addicts to the fluctuation of the social contact parameters was performed, letting us estimate its impact on the pharmaceutical expenditure. ; De La Poza, E.; Guadalajara Olmeda, MN.; Jódar Sánchez, LA.; Merello Giménez, P.
