This article underlines the specificities of public–private mergers by presenting the interactions between the institutional logics at stake and the cultural dynamics during the integration process of a public–private merger. The article presents a longitudinal case study of a public–private merger of two listed French companies over two years. Our study completes and enriches Schultz's model by showing its dynamic nature and highlighting the crucial role of the state as a trigger for the interactions between institutional logics and cultural dynamics. Points for practitioners By highlighting the interactions between cultural dynamics and institutional logics, we trace how cultural dynamics influence the decision-making process and how institutional logics influence integration by becoming dominant. We demonstrate how the state influences the interactions between these forces during the integration process.
This book analyses the creation and dissemination of discourse in China while examining how its media and the people interact and communicate with the rest of the world. It explores the interplay between language, meanings, social practices, culture and politics in the processes of discourse generation. The book critically studies intercultural communication and Chinese discourse models at the national, institutional and individual levels and the different modes of interaction between China and the world. With the help of several case studies the book analyses reports from the People's Daily, interpersonal meaning in promotional videos and advertisements in China, rhetoric in the editorials of China Daily and the representation by international media like The Associated Press and The New York Times to explore differences between Chinese and the Western media reporting the same event. It also looks at the complex models through which the Chinese people--both as individuals and as acollective--communicate with and gain an understanding of the rest of the world. Rich in empirical case studies, this book will be an essential read for scholars and researchers of Chinese Studies, communication studies, media and cultural studies, international relations and political communication

This article develops a conceptual framework for the systematic analysis of the interaction between international institutions as a first step towards building a theory of international interaction. It examines how international institutions may exert causal influence on each other's development and effectiveness and suggests that four general causal mechanisms can elucidate the distinct routes through which influence travels from one institution to another. Institutional interaction can thus rely on transfer of knowledge, commitments established under an institution, behavioural effects of an institution, and functional linkage of the ultimate governance targets of the institutions involved. The article also puts forward hypotheses about the likely effects of specific types of institutional interaction for governance within the international system. The causal mechanisms and types of interaction are mutually exclusive models that help analyse real-world interaction situations. They may also serve as a basis for the systematic analysis of more complex interaction situations.

This review paper delves deeply into the intricate correlation between rational and political strategies in the decision-making process of information technology governance (ITG). The core focus is to understand how advanced technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and decision intelligence, when juxtaposed with traditional political decision-making methods and rational conceptualization (Cohen & Comesaña, 2023), coalesce within the ITG framework. The authors posit that while ITG's decision-making can be influenced by AI, rationality, or politics, there's a discernible alignment of managerial actions leveraging big data and machine learning with rational models, rather than political ones. Furthermore, the paper touches upon the power dynamics and strategic decision-making processes that often underpin ITG decisions. This research not only deepens the theoretical understanding but also provides pragmatic recommendations, making it invaluable for informed resource management in business management and ITG (Filgueiras, 2023). Through this exploration, stakeholders can better navigate the complexities of ITG, ensuring that technology aligns with organizational goals and strategies. As this paper identifies the power dynamics and strategic decision-making processes that often underpin ITG decisions, we can state that there was a discernible alignment of managerial actions leveraging big data and machine learning with rational models, rather than political ones.
