The Manifestation of Cultural Awareness of Military Personnel Participating in International Operations
The article provides a model of cultural awareness applied to the assessment of the manifestation of cultural awareness of military personnel participating in international operations and empirically assesses the manifestation of cultural awareness of the Lithuanian military personnel that have participated in international operations. In the first part of the article, competences constituting cultural awareness and methods of their acquisition are defined and, on the basis of the peculiarities of the cultural awareness of military personnel revealed in the article, a model of cultural awareness is formed. In the second part, the cultural awareness and methods of its acquisition of the Lithuanian military personnel that have participated in international operations is empirically assessed. Having assessed the cultural awareness of the Lithuanian military personnel that have participated in international operations, generalizations and recommendations concerning the cultural awareness of Lithuanian military personnel are provided.

Synthesis report: Civil-military relations in international operations. A Danish perspective
This report synthesizes the studies undertaken as part of the Danish government's initiative to strengthen the concerted civil and military planning and action in connection with peace supporting operations, with emphasis on the Danish engagement in Iraq and Afghanistan. It looks at how coherence is sought across three different but interlinked dimensions: across the institutions of the Danish government; Danish harmonization with other international actors; and Danish (and international) alignment with local and national actors.

An empirical assessment of institutional and individual research productivity in international operations management
In: International journal of operations & production management, Band 20, Heft 12, S. 1392-1410
ISSN: 1758-6593
Assesses institutional and individual research productivity in the area of international operations management (IOM) by reviewing publications in 21 leading operations management (OM) journals over the 12‐year period from 1986 through 1997. Also assesses the IOM research output of the journals and the relative contributions of academicians and practitioners to IOM research appearing in these journals. Among the journals examined for the 12‐year period of this study, based on annual output and quality of published IOM research, Production and Operations Management, International Journal of Operations & Production Management, and European Journal of Operational Research served as the leading outlets for IOM research. The 21 journals published a total of 550 IOM articles over the 12‐year period with academicians authoring approximately 86 percent and practitioners 14 percent of this IOM research. The study provides insights on the IOM research productivity and quality of institutions and individuals and offers suggestions for furthering the cause of IOM research.

Human-Centric Modelling of Construction Technology Transfer for International Operations
Technology transfer is the process of transferring knowledge and technology from one country to another. There are two basic approaches for implementing technology transfer; the horizontal approach and the vertical approach. The horizontal approach aims at transferring technology applications between developed countries where the relevant concepts already exist in the transferee country. The vertical approach aims at transferring technology accompanied by necessary knowledge from the transferor to the transferee. The vertical approach is optimal for technology transfer between developed and developing countries. Several models have been introduced to present appropriate methods for implementing vertical technology transfer between developed and developing countries. These models have given essential platforms for this purpose with rich structures and assumptions. However, these models have been criticised since they were not able to resolve significant obstacles such as the linguistic, cultural, political, and economic factors that are usually associated with technology transfer between developed and developing countries. This research proposes a new model for implementing vertical technology transfer between developed and developing countries that takes into account several potentially influential human-centric factors. The two main characteristics of the proposed model are the inclusion of human-centric factors represented by professional immigrants in the developed countries (diasporas) and the benefit of dual knowledge streaming through the technology transfer process. Certain types of diasporas who possess professional skills are qualified to act as Knowledge and Technology Integrators due to their bilingual, bicultural and technology expertise (BBTs). The proposed model will be called the Dual Technology Transfer (DTT) model. The DTT model has been designed based on theoretical grounds (literature review) and empirical grounds (case studies). The literature review focuses on previously developed technology transfer models. Two different case study approaches were chosen for this research to ensure optimal results for the study by obtaining two separate streams of data. The first case study approach, which is known as a single case study (SC), is based on gathering qualitative data from one construction project and analysing its data using inductive analysis. The second case study approach, which is known as a multi-case study (MC), is based on gathering quantitative data from multiple construction projects and analysing this data using statistical analysis.

Production‐to‐order and international operations: A case study in the clothing industry
In: International journal of operations & production management, Band 19, Heft 5/6, S. 602-619
ISSN: 1758-6593
Principles of supply chain management are discussed in relation to the modifications, extensions, and challenges currently prevalent in internationally operating companies. The central issue is: How do international operations affect common SCM principles? First, insights from the literature are reviewed. Then, a case study is presented based on a company with activities that are spread all over the world and that belong to distinct stages in the supply chain. Subsequently, an evaluation is provided along the lines of the conceptual view on international supply chain management presented earlier. The paper concludes with implications for managers in international operations, as well as directions for further research.
