ABSTRACT:To realize Indonesia's commitment to cut greenhouse effect, it is important to use environmentally friendly vehicles. On August 12, 2019, the Presidential Regulation on the velocity of Battery-Based Electric Motor Vehicle Program for land vehicle as a sign of the seriousness of the government applying this vehicle. This research is specific in terms of the provision of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) in Bantul refinery area, Yogyakarta after the installation of Photovoltaic (PV) plant as Distributed Energy Resources (DER). This study used a simulation of the Open Distribution System Simulator (OpenDSS) software distribution network in analyzing the comparison of voltage profiles and power losses before and after spklu installation. By optimizing the placement of SPKLU using Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA) method using Matlab software that results in spklu placement on bus 58 by 300 kW, bus 37 by 301 kW, and bus 36 by 300 kW. The voltage profile changed from 0.9695 p.u to 0.9688 p.u and power losses from 53.3 kW to 56.1 kW.ABSTRAK:Untuk mewujudkan tanggungjawab Indonesia dalam mengurangi efek rumah kaca maka harus menggunakan angkutan ramah lingkungan. Pada tanggal 12 Agustus 2019 telah disahkan Perpres Percepatan Program Kendaraan Bermotor Listrik Berbasis Baterai sebagai transportasi jalan merupakan tanda seriusnya pemerintah mengaplikasikan kendaraan ini. Penelitian ini spesifik pada hal penyediaan Stasiun Pengisian Kendaraan Listrik Umum (SPKLU) pada area penyulang Bantul, Yogyakarta setelah pemasangan pembangkit Photovoltaic (PV) sebagai Distributed Energy Resources (DER). Penelitian ini menggunakan simulasi jaringan distribusi software Open Distribution System Simulator (OpenDSS) untuk mempelajari perbandingan profil tegangan dan rugi daya sebelum dan sesudah pengaplikasian SPKLU. Dengan optimasi penempatan SPKLU menggunakan metode Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA) menggunakan software Matlab yang menghasilkan penempatan SPKLU pada bus 58 sebesar 300 kW, bus 37 sebesar 301 kW, dan bus 36 sebesar 300 kW. Profil tegangan berubah dari 0,9695 p.u menjadi 0,9688 p.u dan rugi-rugi daya dari 53,3 kW menjadi 56,1 kW.

During the past decades a worldwide loss of biodiversity has been identified, and understanding the consequences for biotic interactions and associated ecosystem services has become a major focus. Ecosystem services of substantial importance are for example crop pollination, pest predation or parasitism. The Jena-Experiment, which is based on an experimental manipulation of plant species richness, offers a great opportunity to study the effects of plant diversity per se, because many confounding factors such as management or land-use intensity of descriptive field studies are excluded. We studied invasion success and performance of Centaurea jacea at different plant diversity levels. Further we focused on the effects of plant species richness, on flower visitors, trap-nesting Hymenoptera and plant-pollinator networks. The first part of the thesis describes the impact of plant species richness and plant functional group richness on the survival and performance on the transplanted phytometer species Centaurea jacea in two consecutive years. Left Coast Political Ecology (LCPE) is a network of undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral scholars and faculty engaged in a collective practice of political ecology grounded in strong connection to the "Left Coast" of North America. In this manifesto, we build on successful 2015 and 2018 workshops on the practice and value of political ecology today to communicate our origins, efforts, and ideas towards building a community of praxis amid the urgencies and uncertainties of our time. We first articulate those organizing and theoretical lineages that influence and inform our work. We trace the evolution of LCPE through diverse genealogies and cross-pollinations – from the "Berkeley School" to Black, Indigenous, feminist, and decolonial studies, through political struggles within and beyond the academy. In grappling with the challenges of our institutional histories of settler-colonial, capitalist, and racist dispossession, we then propose a "coastal epistemology", one that troubles the notion of a settler-colonial or neoliberal "frontier" while finding value in encounter, conversation, and emergence. We seek to make transparent our positions of relative privilege as well as the precarious contexts in which we work and live, while mobilizing and embodying political ecology's long-standing normative and liberatory aims. Next we share some of the diverse methodological approaches employed by our members and collective, with the aim of providing inspiration and solidarity to others contending with similar challenges. Ultimately, we suggest a vision for what a political ecology adequate to our moment might look like and require: a necessarily collective and hopeful project, amid processes of colonial violence, capitalist inequity, and climate catastrophe. Policies and research increasingly focus on the protection of ecosystem services (ESs) through priority-area conservation. Priority areas for ESs should be identified based on ES capacity and ES demand and account for the connections between areas of ES capacity and demand (flow) resulting in areas of unique demand-supply connections (flow zones). We tested ways to account for ES demand and flow zones to identify priority areas in the European Union. We mapped the capacity and demand of a global (carbon sequestration), a regional (flood regulation), and 3 local ESs (air quality, pollination, and urban leisure). We used Zonation software to identify priority areas for ESs based on 6 tests: with and without accounting for ES demand and 4 tests that accounted for the effect of ES flow zone. There was only 37.1% overlap between the 25% of priority areas that encompassed the most ESs with and without accounting for ES demand. The level of ESs maintained in the priority areas increased from 23.2% to 57.9% after accounting for ES demand, especially for ESs with a small flow zone. Accounting for flow zone had a small effect on the location of priority areas and level of ESs maintained but resulted in fewer flow zones without ES maintained relative to ignoring flow zones. Accounting for demand and flow zones enhanced representation and distribution of ESs with local to regional flow zones without large trade-offs relative to the global ES. We found that ignoring ES demand led to the identification of priority areas in remote regions where benefits from ES capacity to society were small. Incorporating ESs in conservation planning should therefore always account for ES demand to identify an effective priority network for ESs. ; Peer reviewed

AbstractBackgroundGreen Infrastructure (GI) is defined as a strategically planned network of natural and semi-natural spaces that provide society, in both rural and urban areas, with a large number of goods and services of great value and economic importance such as clean air and water, carbon storage, pollination or protection against the effects of climate change. Traditionally, municipalities, like other territorial units, are characterized by a series of social and economic indicators that determine their degree of local development. The objective of this article is to identify and assess, through a system of indicators, what role urban and rural municipalities in Andalusia (Spain) play in the provision and reception of ecosystem services. To this end, Geographical Information System (GIS) techniques are used and a cluster analysis is carried out to contrast the results.ResultsRural municipalities show the largest portion of GI area in the whole region. However, they show a low socioeconomic level, with high unemployment rates.ConclusionsIt can be said that the municipalities in rural areas are "ecologically" financing the entire Andalusian population. Faced with this situation, the decisions, and actions of policymakers in this region should aim at promoting measures that can restore and conserve GIs, addressing the demographic and/or socioeconomic imbalances of the region.

It is thus of large public interest to increase our knowledge of pollen grain behavior in the atmosphere (source, emission, processes involved during their transport, etc.) at fine temporal and spatial scales. First simulations with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center NMMB/BSC-CTM model of Platanus and Pinus dispersion in the atmosphere were performed during a 5-day pollination event observed in Barcelona, Spain, between 27 – 31 March, 2015. The simulations are compared to vertical profiles measured with the continuous Barcelona Micro Pulse Lidar system. First results show that the vertical distribution is well reproduced by the model in shape, but not in intensity, the model largely underestimating in the afternoon. February 8-11, 2016. ; In the pharmaceutical industry, a good understanding of the casual relationship between product quality and attributes of formulations is very useful in developing new products, and optimizing manufacturing processes. Feature selection is mandatory due to the abundance of noisy, irrelevant, or misleading features. The selected features will improve the performance of the prediction model and will provide a faster and more cost effective prediction than using all the features. With the big data captured in the pharmaceutical product development practice, computational intelligence (CI) models and machine learning algorithms could potentially be used to identify the process parameters of formulations and manufacturing processes. That needs a deep investigation of roller compaction process parameters of pharmaceutical formulations that affect the ribbons production. In this work, we are using the bio-inspired optimization algorithms for feature selection such as (grey wolf, Bat, flower pollination, social spider, antlion, moth-flame, genetic algorithms, and particle swarm) to predict the different pharmaceutical properties. ; European Cooperation in Science and Technology. TikTok is without any doubt the most successful social network among Gen Zers and, consequently, is increasingly becoming their preferred place to discuss, share opinions, rally around social issues, and express political alignments. Accordingly, both politicians and political parties around the world are joining the platform to connect with young voters: previous exploratory studies, however, have shown that most political actors struggle to adapt to the platform's affordances, appearing cringy, out of touch, or simply using TikTok as an «old medium», without utilizing it to enhance interaction with citizens.
This article contributes to the emerging stream of literature looking at the political uses of this platform in electoral campaigns by studying its application in a local election, focusing on how Ada Colau, candidate mayor for the 2023 Barcelona Municipal elections, has integrated TikTok in her communication strategy.
Applying an affordance-based multimodal content analysis of all the tiktoks posted during the campaign, the paper discloses that, although not fully exploiting the platform's affordances –in particular its participatory potential– the candidate optimally adapts to its vernaculars and cultural environment, constructing a highly recognizable personal style, which seems to borrow and implement the marketing techniques used by influencers and internet celebrities. Therefore, the study concludes that Ada Colau can be considered an example of a new category of celebrity politician, the «influencer-politician», suggesting that future research should dig deeper into this novel dynamic of hybridization and cross-pollination between politics and digital cultures.

Nontimber forests products (NTFPs) are the mainstay of rural livelihoods and local economies the world over. As such they are of interest to a wide disciplinary range of researchers and development and government agencies seeking to promote livelihoods, incomes, and ecologically sustainable practices. With the attention on the various human uses of NTFPs, their role and networks in the broader biological communities in which they are located are frequently overlooked. Harvesting of many NTFPs has effects not only at the organism and population scales, but also on co-occurring species, some of which may also be NTFPs. Thus, reduction or loss of one NTFP population or species in a specific area may have cascade effects on other NTFP species, including those used for cultural purposes. We illustrate the little appreciated importance of NTFPs in broader ecological and social systems by assessing and illustrating the importance of NTFP species as ecological or biocultural keystones in providing regulating and supporting ecological services to other species and cultural services to people. We present a number of examples where NTFP species act as keystones in ecological and cultural systems, including food, pollination and dispersal, animal health, nutrients, shelter and protection, and cultural symbolism, most of which have not been considered by NTFP researchers and practitioners. From these examples we distill six propositions regarding NTFPs and discuss the value of recognizing some NTFPs as biocultural keystones to acknowledge and highlight their roles at broader scales.

Cupressaceae pollen is responsible for winter respiratory allergies in the Mediterranean area. Pollen grains of this diverse family share the same characteristics under light microscopy. Consequently, the partial contribution of each Cupressaceae species to the airborne pollen spectrum cannot be determined with conventional aerobiological methods. Studies on major aeroallergens offer better information on the allergic sensitization and appearance of symptoms in patients sensitized to airborne pollen and spores. Our aim was to determine if airborne Cupressaceae pollen concentrations correspond to aerodynamics of the major allergen of Cupressus (Cup a 1), as well as the aeroallergen correlation with different-sized particles. The air was sampled in two cities of Southern Spain (Granada and Córdoba) using the Hirst-type volumetric sampler for airborne pollen detection during 2006 to 2008 and the Andersen Cascade Impactor for aeroallergen detection during the main pollination period of Cupressaceae in the same period. The samples were analyzed by the methodology proposed by the Spanish Aerobiology Network (REA), the minimum requirements of the European Aeroallergen Society (EAS) for pollen, and by ELISA immunoassay to detect airborne Cup a 1. The distribution patterns of airborne Cupressaceae pollen and Cup a 1 were observed throughout the sampling period, although with some irregular oscillations. Cupressaceae pollen and Cup a 1 showed positive and significant correlation during the period of maximum concentrations (January to March). However, the results of this study showed that the period of exposure of aeroallergens depends on the Cupressus species and their abundance in cities. Presented at the 9th international wildlife ranching symposium: wildlife - the key to prosperity for rural communities, held on 12-16 September 2016 at Hotel Safari & the Safari Court, Windhoek, Namibia. ; Small and large estates all over Europe represent major partners in the conservation of biodiversity; they provide space, shelter and living conditions for some of our most iconic species. From the running white-tailed deer of Finland to flights of migrating birds in Spain, estates often provide room for such animals to thrive. The Wildlife Estates project aims to establish a network of exemplary estates. These estates/territories will showcase the simple principles of good management and conservation of wildlife estates all over Europe. After 10 years of experience, more than 150estates in 17 countries and close to 1.000.000 ha labelled, the Wildlife Estates (WE) Label has perfected its method of creating biodiversity, which in turn generates economic, social and ecological stability. Our objective is simple. Use the land to its fullest potential, in a respectful manner, so as to create long term benefits. Apart from a highly beneficial exchange of experience, the initiative has established simple but precise principles for the good territorial management and conservation of 'wildlife' territories throughout Europe, divided up according to the different biogeographical regions of the European Union. The WE label has been developed to recognize and admit good and exemplary management of territories. It creates a system which ensures and demonstrates that the management and the use of natural resources on relevant estates comply with biodiversity and nature conservation principles and aims to be flexible and reproducible. This is why the WE Label is vital; to combine careful management practice with conservation – a private commitment to working for the public good. All those who commit to our principles do so on a voluntary basis, not because their hand is forced by regulation, but because they have a healthy respect for the maintenance of biodiversity. In many cases, this is not only good for nature, but a diverse and healthy estate can provide even more benefits like increased pollination, especially when the aims of the WE Label are combined with those of our Pollinator Network initiative.
