Summary: This article addresses the presence of Francisco de Miranda in Cuba between 1780 and 1783, considered to be one of the most complex periods of his trajectory. An assessment was made of the key factors affecting their intellectual formation and military trajectory during the phase under discussion. The sources used correspond to documents in your personal archive and other documents saved in Cuban archives, as well as prestigious student texts of your work and thinking. As a result, we appreciate the contradictions that led to their confrontation with the then two main Hispan powers: the Crown and Acquisition. These events led to his departure from the Spanish army and formed the preamble for the formation of his first pro-independence ideas in favour of Hispanoamerica.

Blog: The Axe Files with David Axelrod
Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of the hit Broadway musical "Hamilton," talks to David about what he learned from meeting Stephen Sondheim in high school, what would surprise the Founders about our politics today, his advocacy for Puerto Rico as Congress debated how to address the island's debt crisis, and why he can't allow his creative output to be held captive to his own successes.

Rocío Silva Santisteban (Lima, 1963) is the author of the poetry book Las hijas del terror (2007). This book addresses the complicated situation that women had to face as victims of the political violence that swept through Peru in the 1980s. In this situation, women were violated both by subversive movements and by state repression apparatuses. Silva Santisteban sets out to narrate this horror from the perspective of the women themselves, positioned as victims in these political confrontations. The purpose of this article is to analyze «BAvioLADA», one of the most representative poems of Las hijas del terror. The hypothesis to be demonstrated is that this text presents a staging of the treatment that women underwent in the context of the internal war, in which they were reduced to a sexual object, not only by members of subversive movements , but by the members of the Peruvian Armed Forces.

Much has been said when creating connections between Freemasonry and the Precursor of Venezuela's independence Francisco de Miranda. The story begins in France with a very special encounter between two great men: Miranda and Bonaparte. Both have something in common besides their great military genius: they are usually classified into the Masonic ranks without enough evidence to support such a claim. In this article we try to review all possible connections between Francisco de Miranda and members of this brotherhood, a fact that is not determinant for him to be included among the members of the famous brotherhood.

We intend in this paper to review the discourse of the Democratic Transition in Spain through the evolution of film censorship these years. We will focus specially in the judicial processes that "Cuenca's crime" ("El crimen de Cuenca", Pilar Miró, 1981) and "Rocío" (Fernando Ruiz Vergara, 1983) suffered then. We will make a brief account of the last years of an institution that biased reception of movies for the Spanish public for at least 40 years. We will stress that its formal disappearance matched similar legislation in other countries of democratic Europe. We are going to try the limits of freedom of speech during the Transition years through the study of the press at that time and what was published concerning the polemic exhibition of both films. Using the analysis of the media discourse from different ideological angles we think we have contributed to put into perspective the hopes, conflicts and resistances that the political changes of late 70s and early 80s. These came into birth with much more difficulty than it has usually been accepted. Finally, in coherence with this interdisciplinary effort of gaining perspective, we find it important to show the socio-economic changes of those years in a supranational scale: the emergence of economic neoliberalism, the establishment of the affluent society and the appearance of the consensual society as a consequence of the previous factors.
