This book analyses the cultural elements of 21st-century tourism. The structure of the book is based on four main issues, which will help further the reader''s understanding of present-day experiential tourism: namely urban and cultural tourism on a global scale; specific studies of new products linked to reappraising the landscape; heritage; and nature. It also examines the influence of branding and of the images projected in order to promote this new type of tourism, using both theoretical and general approaches. Finally, the Camino de Santiago is analysed as a paradigm of the new pilgrimage

It is evident that, despite the existing diversity in European rural areas, there has been significant changes seen in them over the last two decades, both from a social and economic point of view. Although scientific literature still holds views generalising the most common problems affecting the rural areas, today it certainly must no longer be considered as a simple production surface. Rural areas are pluri-active and multifunctional spaces that provide values of high interest to society. Information and Communication Technologies contribute to the installation of new economic activities in these spaces, albeit both human capital and political initiatives are required to spread this reality throughout the European countryside, especially when it comes to the more peripheral areas at risk of abandonment. ; Pese a la diversidad que existe en las áreas rurales europeas, es evidente que, en las dos últimas décadas, han tenido lugar cambios significativos en las mismas tanto desde el punto de vista social como económico. Aunque aún hay posturas en la literatura científica sobre la generalización de los problemas más comunes que afectan al medio rural, hoy día debe tenerse muy en cuenta que este ya no es visto como una simple superficie de producción. Las áreas rurales son espacios pluriactivos y multifuncionales que aportan valores de un elevado interés para la sociedad. L'Espagne a été l'un des pays d'Europe les plus touchés par la pandémie. L'article expose les particularités de la décentralisation du système de santé entre les Communautés autonomes et montre comment la chronologie des vagues épidémiques et des décisions prises par les autorités pour y faire face a bousculé cette organisation si bien que l'appareil statistique a été dysfonctionnel au début de la crise. Le gouvernement devait gérer des contradictions géopolitiques complexes, entre le ministère central et les autorités autonomes compétentes, mais aussi avec ses alliés et opposants à la Chambre des députés. La crise sanitaire a révélé les défauts de l'organisation politico-administrative de l'Espagne démocratique, les frictions entre les différentes régions et nationalités qui composent l'État ainsi que celles qui opposent conservateurs et progressistes. Malgré cela, les institutions ont néanmoins fonctionné et su coopérer.

AbstractThe incorporation of territorial development into the Common Fisheries Policy has allowed for the decentralised and participatory management of part of its funds. In fact, the criteria for sustainable development in fishing zones follow the guidelines of Community‐Led Local Development. This work critically examines the implementation process of Axis 4 of the European Fisheries Fund in two areas of the Iberian Peninsula's Atlantic coast as case studies, looking into the creation of Fishery Local Action Groups and the analysis of the planning and execution phases of the funds. The results show, on the one hand, the limited development of this approach and the doubts about the effectiveness of area‐based partnerships as tools for local development, and on the other, the benefits for the revitalisation of the fishing sector, especially in the long term.

En 2018 ACNUR cifró en 40 millones los desplazados internos, 25,4 millones los refugiados y 3,1 millones los solicitantes de asilo internacional (ACNUR-España, 2018), suponiendo la mayor crisis de refugiados desde la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Los flujos de desplazados, fundamentalmente de sur a norte y de este a oeste y en frontera, han aumentado en las dos últimas décadas, al tiempo que se han producido cambios en la legislación de los Estados receptores para limitar el derecho de asilo y la acogida de refugiados, como es el caso de los miembros de la UE. Las restricciones, factores y causas en origen (guerra, discriminación, persecución de parte de la población, etc.), han generado mudanzas en la procedencia de los solicitantes, pero también de las concesiones de figuras de protección internacional. En España es posible analizar a través de fuentes oficiales (Ministerio del Interior) los cambios habidos en la procedencia de las solicitudes de asilo y en las concesiones de protección internacional en el período 2008-2018, lo que permite establecer correlaciones entre causas y factores internos y externos. En su conjunto, se observan cambios en el origen de los solicitantes debido a la extensión de los conflictos armados (Siria, Irak), la crisis institucional (Venezuela) o las restricciones en países tradicionales de asilo (El Salvador, Honduras), y cómo están cambiando las preferencias de acogida en España como Estado receptor. ; In 2018, UNHCR numbered 40 million internally displaced persons, 25.4 million refugees and 3.1 million international asylum seekers (UNHCR-Spain, 2018), effectively equating to the largest refugee crisis since World War II. The flow of displaced individuals, mainly from south to north and from east to west, and across international borders, has increased in the past two decades whilst legislation changes occur in the receiving states as a response to limit the right of asylum and refugee reception, as is the case in EU member states. Restrictions, factors and multiple causes (war, discrimination, population persecution, etc.), not only has generated the displacement of applicants from their countries of origin, but has also modified the nature of concession of international protection. In Spain, it is possible to analyze, through official sources (i.e. Ministry of the Interior), the trend in evolution of the countries of origin as stated in asylum applications and international protection concessions filed during the period 2008-2018, thus facilitating the formulation of correlations between causes and internal and external factors. As a whole, changes of the country of origin of applicants are evidenced as a consequence of the expansion of armed conflicts (Syria, Iraq), institutional crises (Venezuela), restrictions imposed by traditional asylum countries (El Salvador, Honduras), and also the shift in reception preferences emerging in Spain as receiving state.

The research is based on the analysis of a word association test on Europe and the European Union. The results constitute an approach to the geographical and historical representations these students have of their own European continent. This is a fundamental question considering that this collective group is training to teach the contents and values of European geography in secondary school education. From here on, our intention is no other than to carry out an exercise of synthesis and overall reflection on the test results and introduce issues which could generate some debate in the educational community.

El desempleo es un grave problema que afecta a todos los Estados miembros de la UE, entre los que destaca España. Para darle respuesta, desde mediados de la década de 1990 se han implementado una serie de iniciativas destinadas a mejorar y aumentar el volumen de puestos de trabajo. Entre las mismas se encuentran los Pactos Territoriales por el Empleo. Como comprobaremos, se trata de una política de cooperación territorial en la que participan las administraciones públicas (desde la escala europea a la municipal), entidades privadas y agentes locales. La pretensión de este artículo es dar a conocer el origen, los criterios y las características de estos Pactos Territoriales a favor del Empleo desarrollados en España. ; The rate of unemployment is a serious problem that affects all the members of the EU, between whom Spain stands out. By what from middle of the decade of 1990 a series of initiatives were created to improve and to increase the volume of employment: The Territorial Agreements for in Employment. Since we will verify it is a question of a politics of territorial cooperation in that there take part the public administrations (from the European scale to place), private administrations and local agents. Unidad Didáctica correspondiente al Módulo 2 del Curso de Especialización en Gestión Arqueológica del Patrimonio Cultural, editado por de Laboratorio de Arqueoloxía e Formas Culturais, e impartido en el año 2001. El curso tiene 7 módulos de temática especializada que se encuentran íntegramente depositados en este repositorio. ; [ES] El objetivo de este módulo es introducir al alumnado en las bases legales y administrativas para la gestión del Patrimonio Arqueológico. No obstante, en vez de adoptar únicamente una perspectiva didáctica de carácter reglamentarista y centrada en la legislación y los procesos administrativos, se adaptará además un punto de vista basado en la caracterización de las entidades arqueológicas como Bienes Patrimoniales en un territorio social y político. Esto significa que su conservación, gestión y valoración se debe realizar desde el reconocimiento de su situación y estima patrimonial en la actualidad. Si bien otros módulos muestran cómo se reconocen y describen esos bienes, cómo se establece su valor histórico, cómo se interviene sobre ellos y cómo se pueden revalorizar para añadirles valor y producir valor, este módulo se centrará en la definición de la naturaleza, carácter y situación actual de esos bienes. Su valor patrimonial deriva no de su origen pretérito o de su utilidad futura, sin o del hecho casi apriorístico de que son entidades que existen en el presente y como tales ocupan una cierta posición en el seno de las relaciones socio-políticas que constituyen el presente, determinada en primer lugar (pero no sólo) por el aprecio que la sociedad vuelve sobre ellos. Este planteamiento resume la propuesta teórica fundamental del módulo, así como el alcance de su línea argumental. Desde esta perspectiva, se tratará de mostrar la relación de los Bienes Arqueológicos con los principales contextos que condicionan (cuando no determinan) su actualidad: la política del suelo, el desarrollo urbano, la modificación del medio rural, el impacto ambiental, la legislación… Las diferentes asignaturas del módulo abordan todas estas temáticas y la problemática que desde ellas se plantea para el Patrimonio Arqueológico. Aunque no conforma el eje de organización del módulo, se debe advertir que la dicotomía argumental básica que atraviesa (y en parte vertebra) todos los contenidos del módulo es la dualidad urbano // rural. Se examinarán en detalle los problemas y las alternativas diferenciadas para gestionar el Patrimonio existente en cada uno de esos ambientes. Por su temática y orientación, los contenidos de este módulo, aunque centrados en Patrimonio Arqueológico, ofrecerán así mismo indicaciones y referencias concretas que podrán ser aplicadas a la gestión y tratamiento de todas las variedades del Patrimonio Cultural, fundamentalmente al constituido por bienes inmuebles. ; [EN] The aim of this module is to introduce students to the legal and administrative procedures involved in the management of Cultural Heritage. However, instead of simply focusing on the legislation and procedures themselves, this module will also focus on characterising archaeological items as Heritage Elements against a social and political backdrop. This means that their conservation, management and presentation to the public must be made from the perspective of recognising their current situation and degree of recognition as heritage elements. Although other modules will deal with the question of how these elements are recognised and described, how their historical value is established, how work is carried out on them and how it is possible to enhance and promote them in order to produce value, this module will focus on defining the type, characteristics and current situation of these elements. If their value as heritage assets is not derived from their historical origins or future use, but instead the fact that they are simply elements that exist in the present and as such occupy a certain position within the socio-political relationships that constitute the present, determined primarily (but not uniquely) by how much they are appreciated by society. This approach sums up the theoretical proposal of the module, as well as the scope of its line of argument. From this perspective, the aim will be to show how Archaeological elements are associated with the main contexts that condition (or determine) their current situation: land use policies, urban development, modification of the rural environment, environmental impacts, or legislation. The different topics covered in the module explore al of these areas and the problems they pose to archaeological heritage. Although it is not the focal point of the module, it is important to note that the basic argument underlying (and partly structuring) all of the contents of the module is the duality between urban and rural settings. The module will explore in detail the problems and alternatives associated with managing heritage in each of these settings. Due to their themes and orientation, despite focusing on archaeological heritage, the contents of this module will also provide specific indications and references that can be applied to the management and treatment of all types of cultural heritage, essentially buildings and other types of structures. ; Peer reviewed
