Factory planning is permanently aspiring to develop its tools. From a historically point of view first of all physical models were integrated in the planning work. With the emerging of computing technology more and more digital models were used. The new approach of Hybrid Factory Planning combines both model worlds in a symbiotically and beneficial manner. Regarding this among other things a content framework and an application scenario are presented.

Project-oriented work has become increasingly important. However, many projects lack comprehensive documentation of project-related operational tasks. This paper introduces an integrative model of building blocks for project planning, execution and completion which supports project documentation and the preparation of final project reports. The model defines the essential building blocks, processes and technical functions required for a software prototype.

It is vital for the medium-sized characterized textile industry to focus investment activity on the cost-benefit ratio when transforming for Industry 4.0. This article works out the characteristics of the textile value chain concerning weaving and how planning quality at the operational level affects concrete examples. On this basis, concrete proposals for investments in digitization and automation are deduced and their value benefits highlighted.

A new approach for process and cost-related designing of multiplemachine operation is developed to optimize the resource input. Skills of employees and priority of machines have to be considered in the analytical model. The new analytical approach of multiple machine operation will be integrated in the software tool Smart Planner of the enterprise CAPPcore GmbH later on to improve the planning and optimization of the production system as a whole.

Sudden and unsystematic changes, such as fluctuations in order flow, machine failures, or employee sick days affect the Production Planning and Control (PPC) activities of industrial companies. Trends like globalization and increased market pressure intensify these problems. To master the complexity of decision-making in production control, tools of the digital factory (e.g. simulation systems) or IT systems (e.g. Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)) are applied in manufacturing. Combining these areas would enable real-time capable data exchange which, in turn, provides real-time capable decision support. This article presents an approach for solving this problem.
