Die Entwicklung der Informationstechnologien hat sich als wirksame Kraft und Kontrolle gegen politisch autoritäre Führungen herausgestellt. Sie wird daher sogar als "der größte Demokratisierer, den die Welt je gesehen hat" dargestellt. Volumen und Form der durch die neuen Informationstechnologien möglich gemachten Kommunikationswege weisen autoritäre Systeme in ihre Schranken und machen der parlamentarischen und politischen Opposition möglich, ihre Informationen an die Bürger weiterzugeben. Auch in Singapur ist es so der Oppositionspartei People's Action Party möglich geworden, an der politischen Willensbildung teilzuhaben und zum Beispiel über das Internet Einfluß auf die Bürger zu nehmen. Der Artikel untersucht diese Entwicklung und weist auf die Möglichkeiten politischer Oppositionsarbeit gegen autoritäre Systeme durch neue Informationssysteme hin. (SWP-Fnk)
