Over the past decade, labor-management relations have taken a sharp turn toward confrontation in several states and localities. Political ideologues have attempted to roll back collective bargaining rights in several states and cut back on public employee wages and benefits to balance budgets thrown into deficit. This has led to heated debates in such states as Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana. In the midst of this swirling controversy, which has been part of a wider effort to dismantle the existing order of labor-management relations in America that has prevailed for decades, the public and policymakers have lost sight of the potential and real benefits of labor-management collaboration as a strategic device to improve delivery of goods and services in both the private and public sectors. "Die Organisation kollektiver Aktionen kann mit Hilfe von Computersimulationen optimiert werden. Zu diesem Zweck wird in der vorliegenden Arbeit ein akteurzentrierter Ansatz verfolgt, in dessen Rahmen die individuelle Teilnahmeentscheidung eines Akteurs auf der Basis einer Erweiterung der Theorie des geplanten Verhaltens modelliert wird. In das Modell der individuellen Teilnahmeentscheidung gehen die Variablen Einstellung, Ertrag, subjektive soziale Norm und die wahrgenommene Handlungskontrolle bezüglich der Teilnahme ein. Durch den Einbezug dieser vier Variablen werden verschiedene sozialwissenschaftliche Theorien (Elaboration Likelihood Model; Theorie des geplanten Verhaltens; Rational Choice Theorie) integriert. Diese Theorien ermöglichen die Konzeption von Interaktionen zwischen den Individuen, wodurch der Effekt von Personen, die andere Personen für die Teilnahme an einer kollektiven Aktion anwerben, untersucht werden kann. Aus Simulationen einer Population mit 10.000 unterschiedlichen Individuen wird ermittelt, welchen Einfluss die Anwerbeform der motivierenden Personen, die Höhe der Beiträge der Teilnehmer zum Kollektivgut, die Grösse des Kollektivguts und die Ausstattung der Aktivatoren (Überzeugungstraining oder Möglichkeit zu belohnen) auf die Effektivität kollektiver Aktionen hat. Die Simulationsergebnisse werden schliesslich zu umsetzbaren Empfehlungen für die Organisation kollektiver Aktionen zusammengefasst." (Autorenreferat)

In this article the authors study existing waste-disposal intentions and behavior-influencing factors at the household level in Santiago de Cuba. The authors analyze the perceived reputation of the behavior, two different attitude components (sentiment and cost-value ratio), and perceived difficulties. Our focus is to compare three types of waste-disposal behaviors and derive specific interventions. The behaviors most suitable to Cuba are recycling, composting, and reuse. Analysis with structural equation modeling (SEM) reveals relevant differences in factor influence for attitude components and perceived reputation. Recycling and composting are most strongly influenced by affective aspects of attitude, whereas the general attitude toward reuse seems to have a more rational basis. The influence of perceived reputation on recycling is strong, that on composting is moderate, and no influence at all is found for reuse. The authors combine the SEM results with those of the qualitative data analysis of problems and incentives assessed from the participants and suggest behavior-specific interventions.
