This volume includes ten papers on Tanzanian economic policy, which were presented at the 7th National Economic Policy Workshop held in Dar es Salaam, December 2-4, 1991. The workshop concentrated on three policy areas, which had been identified as of particular importance at this stage in Tanzania. These related to parastatal restructuring, agricultural marketing and the reform of the financial sector. (DÜI-Hff)

The "Workshop on Taxation Policy Review" which was held in Arusha between 20th and 24th March, 1994 brought together various participants including academicians, policy makers and tax administrators. During this workshop which was supported by the Friedrich Nauman Foundation, several papers were presented and discussed. This book is a collection of these papers and a contribution towards the ongoing search for an effective and comprehensive tax system in Tanzania, which will take into account socio-economic and political realities while effectively addressing national development goals.
