Market-driven socioeconomic change in the past decades has transformed the social composition and the class base of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). It has also eroded the institutional foundation of the CCP's grassroots organizations and redefined the relationship between party members and the Party. While the structure of a Leninist party remains, the nature the Party and the way it exercise power are undergoing fundamental change. The new dynamic in party-society relations and the rise of status-quo interests within the Party dictate that authoritarian accommodation is the default path of the CCP's evolution, not imminent regime collapse or democratic transition. AbstractThis article focuses on the political thought and practice of the martyred Jesuit intellectual during the late 1970s. It employs the concept of desencuentros, probing the relationship between linguistic misunderstandings and political division. The article highlights Ignacio Ellacuría's novel analyses of the relationship between the ecclesial and the popular organisations, led by the radical Left. It discusses his political thought in relationship to the author's research on the base communities of northern Morazán. The article also discusses the Jesuit scholar's critical support for the Junta Revolucionario de Gobierno (15 October 1979–2 January 1980). The concluding section discusses Ellacuría's relevance for contemporary Latin American politics.

Because of inconsistencies in the reported migration flows and large amounts of missing data, our knowledge of international migration patterns in the Europe is limited. Methods for overcoming data obstacles and harmonising international migration data, however, are improving. In this article, we provide a methodology for integrating various pieces of incomplete information together, including a partial set of harmonised migration flows, to estimate a complete set of migration flows by origin, destination, age and sex for the 31 countries in the European Union and European Free Trade Association from 2002 to 2007. The results represent a synthetic data base that can be used to inform population projections, policy decisions and migration theory.

This paper reviews the patent and data exclusivity provisions of the AUSFTA to assess this component of the cost of increased US market access. It also traces other trade agreements which Australia has initiated or participated in, to see how demands for ever greater restraints on trade have developed. The patent and data exclusivity elements of these agreements are assessed against a benchmark of a balanced IP system which preferences competition and an evidence-base. The paper also considers the extent to which data are available which allow the true price of such agreements to be monitored.

Abstract This paper exploits a unique cross-country, firm-level survey to study the responses of European firms to the sharp demand and credit contraction triggered by the global Great Recession of 2009. The analysis reveals that cost reduction—particularly labour cost reduction through the adjustment of quantities rather than prices—was the prevailing strategy that firms had adopted by summer 2009. Remarkably, not even during the worst postwar recession did employers cut base wages to reduce costs. Different combinations of adjustment strategies are apparent, and the particular choices of labour costs adjustments depend substantially on countries' institutional settings. A pesar de que hubo importantes movimientos sociales: el de autonomía sindical en los años setenta y el zapatista en los años noventa, la sociedad civil estuvo poco presente en el proceso de democratización de los años noventa que dio lugar a la salida del pri de la presidencia. Además, los actores tradicionales, entre ellos el sindicalismo, han perdido su centralidad. En este artículo analizamos dos movimientos sociales mexicanos fuertemente cargados de sentido. Partimos de la idea de que si bien es importante analizar la capacidad de los movimientos sociales de influir sobre el sistema político es, incluso prioritario, estudiarlos con base en el sentido que ellos mismos otorgan a su acción.

Section 190 is a result of the Thai society that experienced commitments in international level especially Free Trade Agreement (FTA) which created problems in the process and enforcement.However, to continue a good relationship with other countries, FTA Watch, therefore, provides a Draft Act relating to section 190 which has important principles as follow:1. The process of making an international agreement must balance the role and power among the Executive, Legislative, and Civil Society.2. Negotiation and making agreement process must base on Good Governance, Transparency, and Civil Participation.3. A research must be conducted by the independent and neutral organization.4. Public Hearing must be done under a management of Independent Organization.

De acuerdo a los nuevos escenarios y tendencias relacionados al tema de la seguridad, a nivel regional las FF.AA., se han visto inmiscuidas en el ámbito interno, respaldados de alguna forma por la normativa legal de cada uno de los países. El Ecuador es el país pionero en proclamar la seguridad integral, tomando como base la Constitución de la República del Ecuador del 2008, el Plan Nacional del Buen vivir, Plan de Seguridad Integral, la Ley de Seguridad Pública y del Estado, donde el ser humano es el elemento central buscando vivir en paz, con libertades y justicia en armonía con el medio ambiente y la seguridad del Estado.

En el proceso de aplicación de la sentencia de la Corte Internacional de Justicia emita el 27 de enero del 2014, con la Corte fijó los límites marítimos entre Perú y Chile, sus autoridades sobre la base del respeto al derecho internacional y a los preceptos de la Corte, y con madurez política aceptaron el fallo, procediendo a partir de febrero del 2014, con los procesos demarcatorios, sin embargo, la diplomacia peruana argumenta que lo descrito en el fallo, cierra definitivamente la frontera terrestre en lo que respecta al triángulo terrestre formado entre: Punto de Inicio de la Frontera Marítima, Punto la Concordia y el Hito No 1, como territorio peruano.

El presente estudio ambiental estuvo orientado en identificar los principales impactos ambientales que genera las operaciones del Fuerte Militar Napo y establecer una propuesta de plan de manejo para cada una de las actividades impactantes. También, se realizó el levantamiento de información de línea base, así como también se determinó las áreas de influencia directa e indirecta, y el planteamiento del Plan de Manejo Ambiental y sus respectivas medidas ambientales. La identificación y evaluación de los impactos ambientales fueron realizados mediante la utilización de matrices Causa - Efecto, los aspectos analizados fueron: extensión, duración, reversibilidad y la categorización de impactos fue: Positivos, negativos de tipo: Leves, moderados, severos y críticos.

SMR (Small Modular Reactor) is an acronym for a group of nuclear power plant designs receiving an increasing deal of attention from the industry and policy makers. A large number of SMRs need to be built in the same site and across the word to compensate diseconomies of scale and be cost competitive with large reactors and other base-load technologies. A major barrier is the licensing process, historically developed for large reactors, preventing the simply deployment of several identical units in different countries. This paper, discussing Ramana, Hopkins and Glaser [1], enlarges the view to all the SMR-related implications on the licensing process, presenting their legislative implications and market effects.

Music is one of media product which is not able to be separated from Political Economy of Media even though it is packaged as leisure time entertainment product. Music which is particularly in Alternative subgenre is not far from its main genre which is Rock. In fact, this subgenre has a solid and prominent fan base which consists of young people who enjoy dynamic and fast-tempo music which tells the struggle of youngsters in their life. Ironically, the tragic incidents which surround the band personnel of 'The All-American Rejects' are used to increase the popularity of their single entitled 'Move Along'.
