This study tries to reveal the university students viewpoint in practicing the article of the international declaration of human rights in Jordanian society > this was done through a random sample consisting of 192 students of facilities of arts and education in Yarmouk University > to measure this viewpoint the researchers designed an instrument for this purpose which included all the articles of the international declaration of human rights and monitored the responses of the members of this samples to these articles according to an evaluative scale consisting of four levels (4) being the highest and (1) the lowest . Eight independent variables have been introduced into this study . Their effect on the dependent variables representing the articles of the international declaration of human rights has been examined through suitable statistical tests , means, and (T) tests and one-way variation analysis . The study has come to conclusion most important of which are the following : 1- Members of the sample were un animus that all the articles of the International Declaration of Human Rights are practiced at a high level in Jordanian society the lowest being 2.16 and the highest being 3.53 on a scale whose maximum is 4 and minimum is 1 . 2- The articles of the international Declaration of human rights which were in agreement with Islamic legislation and the Jordanian constitution have attained the highest averages the lowest of which was 2.7 and the highest 3.53 . 3- Seven of the eight independent variables were the school type , the cultural level , the place of residence , the dedications to human rights , the degree of acquaintance with human rights . their averages of means had no statistical significance , which shows that the conceptions of students ( as dependent variables ) are very close to one another and harmoniously follow the same direction leading to similarity and unanimity in the students views and estimation of the degree of practicing the articles of the International Declaration of Human Rights . 4- The difference between the medial of the independent variable "source of the knowledge of the articles of human rights " resulted in differences of statistical significance at a level a =0.05 which was in favor of the source of audible and visible media and also the source of book and magazine reading . The research gave recommendations about enhancing the citizens awareness of the texts of Jordanian legislation within the framework of the constitution and the laws ;planning for an information campaign to educate citizens about practicing the articles of the articles of the international declaration of human rights in Jordanian society over and above introducing into the teaching curricula a ground work of general legislative education and high lighting the legislation related to the rights of the citizen who as a member of Jordanian society in particular .

The American juvenile court is a subject on which many books might be written from different points of view and approached. It is a response to the modern spirit of social justice, and is perhaps the first legal tribunal where law and science, especially the science of medicine and those sciences which deal with human behavior such as biology, sociology and psychology, work side by side. It recognizes the fact that the law unaided is incompentent to decide what is adequate treatment of delinquency and crime. It undertakes to define and readjust social situations without the sentiment of prejudice. Its approach to the problem which the child presents is scientific, objective, and despassionate. The methods which it uses are those of social case work, in which every child is studied and treated as an individual. The principles upon which the juvenile court acts are radically different from those of the criminal courts. In place of tribunals, judicial restrained by antiquated procedure, satinated in an atmosphere of hostility, trying cases for determining guilt and inflicting punishment according to inflexible rules of law, we have now juvenile courts, in which the relations of the child to the parents or other adults and to the state or society are defined and are adjusted summarily according to the scientific findings about the child and his environments. The juvenile court, or the child's court is of comparatively recent origin, but the legal principles undulying it may be traced far back into Anglo-American jurisprudence and legal history. While in some instances these principles have been greatly extended and modified, their primary basis is the common law. The juvenile court should be looked upon as a growth in legal theory and not as a departure there from. Upon what ever legal basis the juvenile court may be founded, the primary and definite legal question at issue is, in most instances the right of the court to control the custody of the child. With the advent of juvenile courts possessing broad discretionary powers to commit children to institutions upon which ground that the welfare of the child demands an assumption by the state of parental control, a determination of the nature and extent of the rights of parents to the custody of their children becomes of vital importance in any discussion of legal principles which underlie the juvenile court legislature.

AbstractThis article argues that paternalism is an organizing principle of the international humanitarian order. The international community is increasingly organized to preserve, protect, and promote human life, reflecting an ethics of care and impulse to intervene for the greater good. This mixture of care and control is captured by the concept of paternalism, which Gerald Dworkin famously defined as 'the interference with a person's liberty of action justified by reasons referring exclusively to the welfare, good, happiness, needs, interests or values of the person being coerced'. Paternalism is either present or dormant in many (if not nearly all) interventions that are designed for the betterment of people and the good of humanity. This article has four goals: 1) to reassess and examine the analytical power of this much maligned and misunderstood concept; 2) to consider the dimensions upon which paternalism varies in order to develop the concept's value for empirical analysis; 3) to speculate how and why paternalism's form has moved from 'strong' to 'weak' over the last hundred years; and, 4) to consider whether, why, and when paternalism might be legitimate.

In 'Incorporating Indigenous Rights in the International Regime on Biodiversity Protection', Federica Cittadino convincingly interprets the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and its related instruments in light of indigenous rights and the principle of self-determination. Cittadino's harmonisation of these formally separated regimes serves at least two main purposes. First, it ensures respect for the human rights framework that protects indigenous rights whilst implementing the biodiversity regime. Second, harmonisation allows for the full operationalisation of the indigenous related provisions of the CBD framework that concern traditional knowledge, genetic resources, and protected areas. Federica Cittadino successfully demonstrates that the CBD may allow for the protection of indigenous rights in ways that are more advanced than under current human rights law

The human rights and fundamental freedoms of disabled persons are set out in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). This paper firstly focuses on the importance of the involvement of disabled people at all levels of decision-making. The second part of the paper identifies those aspects of the UNCRPD that reflect the direct involvement of disabled people. Finally, it considers how human rights bodies can best build on this specific aspect of the UNCRPD in order to realize the potential of the Convention as a determining factor in affirming disabled people rights in an effective and meaningful manner. ; peer-reviewed
