Purpose
This study aims to explore the relationship between social commerce purchase intention and consumer psychological factors (i.e. resilience, vulnerability and personality traits) during the COVID-19 pandemic.


Design/methodology/approach
Drawing on social cognitive theory (SCT), an econometrical behavioral model was developed to explore the key determinants of online purchase behavior of 303 students in Greece. The research data were collected with a two-wave online survey (pre- and during the pandemic) which was distributed randomly to students in Generation Z.


Findings
A series of regression analyses revealed a positive effect of openness and a negative impact of extraversion and neuroticism on internet, Instagram and Facebook purchases during the pandemic. Findings suggest that loneliness serves as a moderator, while resilience and vulnerability have a positive effect on social media purchase behavior.


Practical implications
This study provides insights and implications for social commerce marketers and sheds light on the determinants of online purchase intentions of young consumers during the COVID-19 pandemic.


Originality/value
Elaborating on SCT, this study provides novel insights into young consumers' internet use and online purchase behavior during the COVID-19 pandemic (i.e. longitudinal approach), by focusing on consumer vulnerability and resilience while also embedding personality traits and mental health aspects (i.e. loneliness levels during the pandemic).

ABSTRACT: Throughout the world, political conflicts lead to violence between countries. In such situations, wars and terrorism result in physical and mental injury to members of the civilian population. The social work services are many times the first to provide assistance in the initial stages of shock and defense. The success of the services depends, among other things, on their organizational characteristics. The present study is based upon qualitative research conducted in Israel with social workers. The point of departure was the knowledge gained from the experience of the social workers. The sample included 46 interviewees from 20 social work services. Thirteen of the services were identified as having organizational resilience and coped effectively with emergencies among the civilian population exposed to war and terrorism, and the other 13 were found to lack resilience. The research findings indicated that the tendency to take action was the most prominent characteristic among the resilient organizations. Other characteristics that contributed to action (in resilient organizations) or deterred action (in unsuccessful organizations) were associated with organizational structure, management and leadership style, the decision-making process, communication, role division, relations with the environment, and nature of the roles of the team members. The study discusses the characteristics of resilience and practical aspects for the development of social work services. KEYWORDS: Resilience, Disaster, War

The universal interpretation of a model democracy involves ideas that intend to promote equal voting rights for all, majority rule, and scrupulous elections. In fact, the very definition of a democracy is "a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives." It should be implicit in this definition that such unified notions apply to all sectors of American society: educational, economical, political, and societal. Yet, judging from these factors, the U.S. has proven to be extremely deficient in the aspects of what a true democracy looks like and the benefits that ensue such governing. When examining America's overtly corrupt and capitalist economy, it is visible that the market is overwhelmed with private, self-aggrandizing businesses, and owners. There is an utmost lack of collaboration, equity, and justice in the educational institutions and a similar situation in the workforce. This unremitting imbalance in American society can be answered with one simple call to action: democracy.

Dynamics of the world social development and accelerated socio-economic progress affect material and spiritual lives of the government and each person and puts forward a problem of lifelong learning. No matter what sphere is considered, what aspects of education and upbringing of a person are taken into account, the necessity to realize what formula should be followed "education for life" or "education through the life" appears. This necessity is revealed in expressing the opinion about the aspect of education as continuity when common social and cultural goals and their implementation are kept or changed. The core of educational policy is target strategic promotion in solving socio-cultural, financial and economic and managerial problems on the basis of rapid education. ; Динамизм мирового и общественного развития, ускорение социально-экономического прогресса, оказывающего решающее воздействие как на материальную и духовную стороны жизни государства в целом, так и на каждую отдельную личность, в контексте многих насущных вопросов актуализирует проблему непрерывности образования. PurposeThis paper aims to investigate whether the sustainability disclosure with the environmental, social and governance (ESG) aspects has an impact on the financial performance represented by Tobin's Q, return on assets (ROA) and return on equity indices in the Levant countries for the period 2012–2019, which was a period of turmoil and political repercussions that affected the countries of the region.Design/methodology/approachUsing the content analysis technique, the data was collected from 124 nonfinancial companies from Levant countries (Jordan, Palestine, Syria and Lebanon), and 883 observations were collected as panel data for the research analysis.FindingsThe findings indicate that the environmental, social and ESG collective performance maximizes financial performance, while the governance performance influences ROA only. This suggests that companies pay great attention to various stakeholders, mainly external. Maximizing stakeholder value remains an optimal strategy to achieve the company's financial goals. Thus, improving the disclosure levels of nonfinancial performance in the capital markets will improve the chances of growth of the financial performance indicators of companies.Originality/valueThe study provided insights about the ESG role and its impact on the financial performance of companies in a less explored context by previous literature, namely, the Levant.

Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are important actors in sustainable development. This organization is considered the core of civil society that not only actively encourages the provision of public services and democratization but also oversees and criticizes the policy of the unfair state. Although the number continues to increase (in year 2000, the number reached 13.400), but in fact they have not been able to give achievements in the management of natural resources and environment. The research was conducted on environmental NGOs in 3 different regions (Yogyakarta, Kolaka and Muna) with the objective of measuring their performance in reforestation activities based on legal, technical and social aspects. Data collection was done by using Close Ended Questionnaire, where each criterion and indicator was assessed based on scoring system, which refers to system: One Score One Indicator Scoring System (Avenzora, 2008). To interpret each value the Phenomenology approach was used, while to see the difference of perspective from each stakeholder, Kruskall Wallis analysis was used. The results showed that the performance of environmental NGOs in reforestation activities was not effective and sustainable. This was shown by poorly score of 2 and/or rather poor score of 3 of each assessment criteria value in legal, technical and social aspects.

The article discusses approaches to rethinking the ideology of health care in the context of the COVID–19 pandemic. The transformation of ideas about the role of the state in health protection is investigated, the existing social practices in the field of health protection during the pandemic are analyzed. Historical-sociological, ideological-legal, communicative-technological, socio-psychological, legal-conscious-behavioral aspects of the implementation of strategies to combat the consequences of the pandemic are analyzed. The issue of the transition from pandemic to endemic status of the fight against COVID–19 coronavirus infection and various aspects of such a transition are being considered. Based on the experience of a number of foreign countries and regions of Russia in combating the pandemic, conclusions are drawn about the need for social solidarity by achieving a normative consensus in choosing strategies and tactics for such a struggle at the level of the individual, society and the state. The universality of the value of the right to life and health protection during the pandemic was noted.

Responding to the unprecedented threat of Covid-19 to the life of all humanity, it directly affected humans mentally and physically. This outbreak consequences lead to human well-being being affected. To break this infection chain, the government has been announced to implement the Movement Control Order (MCO). This study tries to identify consumer social well-being during MCO and the impact of social well-being based on household income. A total of 340 consumers around Malaysia were randomly selected to participate in this survey. This survey used the Flanagan Quality of Life Scale (1970) indicator to measure the consumer's social well-being. The findings showed that the implementation of MCO made the aspect of consumers' social well-being still in good condition because most respondents rated five (5) out of fifteen (15) items as mostly satisfied (scale 5) with their quality of time during the implementation of MCO. Meanwhile, household income did not affect the level of their social well-being because most of the respondents concerned more about human relationships rather than finances. Overall it can be said that human touch and the element of interaction between humans have a significant impact on human social well-being.

Research on social movements has paid little attention to the dynamics of clandestine mobilization as an integral element ofprotest cycles. Studies ofsixteen New Left clandestine groups in Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United States demonstrate strong commonalities in the processes ofgoing underground and staying underground. Activists move from the public to the clandestine realm as a result of increased repression at the protest cycle's peak, commitment to specific ideological frames, and personal ties. Identity conflicts specific to underground roles and other aspects ofunderground life influence the nature ofclandestine violence, further affecting the protest cycle's course.

AbstractOver the past two decades, scholars have investigated a multitude of different aspects of motherhood. This article provides a scoping review of research published from 2001 to 2021, covering 115 Social Science Citation Index‐referenced papers from WEIRD countries, with the aim of reconstructing social norms around motherhood and mothers' responses to them. The analysis is theoretically based on normological and praxeological concepts. The findings reveal five contemporary norms of motherhood that reflect both stability and increasing differentiation, and are related to five types of mothers: the norms of being attentive to the child (present mother), of securing the child's successful development (future‐oriented mother), of integrating employment into mothering (working mother), of being in control (public mother), and of being contented (happy mother). Relying on an intersectional lens, we analyze mothers' heterogeneous responses to these norms of motherhood, and examine how neoliberal demands build on and perpetuate inequalities.
