This paper studies the techno culture of acceleration from a sociological and genealogical perspective. It is a question of micro-power that transforms the social network Utopia into an autorestrainted Dystopia. The synchronisation with the others leads us to a communication flux 24/7. Therefore, the right to communicate throughout the social network becomes a horizontal implied must in order to join in the multiples conversations in real time. The permanent actualisation becomes a necessity and the user a time consumer. In a society where time is accelerated, communication turns structurally into incommunication.

This article focuses on studying the potential power of influence of an information supported by statistics. The authors seek to explore this proposal from various hypotheses by comparing the relative effect on a group of students of plural formulations containing or not statistics. From this work emerges a new question that sounds against-intuitive, this generation may be more sensitive to the information when the latter is supported by moderated statistics.

Dieser Artikel hat als Ziel, die Rolle der Flüchtlingskrise im Wiener Wahlkampf 2015 auf Facebook zu analysieren. Die Wahlen fanden auf dem Höhepunkt der Krise statt, als hunderttausende Schutzsuchende, hauptsächlich aus Syrien, die europäischen Grenzen überquerten. Die Situation verwandelte Österreich über Nacht in das wichtigste Transitland nach Westeuropa und rückte Wien in den Brennpunkt des Geschehens. Auf Basis des Agenda-Building-Ansatzes und des Begriffs von Problematisierung von Habermas wurden alle Posts auf den Facebook-Seiten der fünf Parteien des Wiener Gemeindesrates und ihrer SpitzenkandidatInnen während der letzten vier Wochen im Wahlkampf einer Inhaltsanalyse unterzogen (n = 935). Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die Interaktionen der NutzerInnen nicht auf die Thematisierung, sondern auf die Definition von Flüchtlingen als Problem zurückzuführen sind. Polarisierung und nicht Zustimmung führte dazu, dass das Flüchtlingsthema den Wahlkampf dominierte.

Este artigo analisa a representação feminina relacionada a estéticas contra-hegemônicas na edição comemorativa da revista ELLE Brasil publicada em maio de 2015. O objetivo é pensar de que forma a diversidade está conquistando espaço na indústria da moda e nos meios de comunicação que a representam. Tomando como ponto de partida o conceito de representação social em Hall e Moscovici, discutimos aqui o significado desse conteúdo, que se distingue do padrão de beleza normativo da mulher branca, loira, ocidental e extremamente magra, considerando a forma concreta que o significado simbólico dessas representações assumem na revista.

The paper discusses some concepts, trends, and deficits in recent media history, and it makes a plea for a history of communication to implement media into a broader conception of social history. Therefore, we employ a wider notion of mediatization which is used in media and communication studies, and re-formulate it for historical research. On the basis of that notion, we introduce the theoretical concept of 'communicative figurations' which an interdisciplinary research group in Bremen and Hamburg developed to ask how changing media environments and ensembles interrelate with societal and political transformations. In transferring it in research on imagined communities in times of analogue media, the paper presents some early insights into an on-going project and pursues questions about the communicative construction of collectivities.

The study reveals the pedagogical conditions of training future managers of foreign economic activity for cross-cultural communication. The analysis of the scientific research in this field has shown that the essence of the pedagogical conditions has not been generalized or systemized yet. On the base of the invariable vectors of the pedagogical process, the pedagogical conditions of training future managers of foreign economic activity for cross-cultural communication are outlined. They are: creating multicultural surrounding in the process of training managers for gaining experience in cross-cultural communication (organization); adaptive gradual management of the educational activity with due regards for personal, professional, communicative qualities of future managers of foreign economic activity (management); subject and subject interaction, directed at the optimal management of cross-cultural conflicts (communication).

In this research, our target is to disclose the communication strategies of the NGOs which aim at orienting individuals' opinions and daily routine towards environmental concerns. More precisely, we start with a symbolical reading of the poster campaigns of WWF NGO, while considering the poster as a meaningful shape on which the logo, the picture and the slogan make a whole in the construction of the meaning. Thus, the poster as a meaningful object will be brought into focus in the light of the symbolic and at the heart of a narrative creation.

In recent years Linked Open Data (LOD) has matured and gained acceptance across various communities and domains. Large potential of Linked Data technologies is seen for an application in scientific disciplines. In this article, we present use cases and applications for an application of Linked Data in the social sciences. They focus on (a) interlinking domain-specific information, and (b) linking social science data to external LOD sources (e.g. authority data) from other domains. However, several technical and research challenges arise, when applying Linked Data technologies to a scientific domain with its specific data, information needs and use cases. We discuss these challenges and show how they can be addressed. (author's abstract)

O artigo objetivou identificar a percepção de produtores rurais de Tupã/SP sobre a legislação que implantou e regulamenta a logística reversa de embalagens de agrotóxicos, bem como as informações que têm sobre sua obrigação. Buscou-se trazer elementos contidos na legislação e considerações de diversos autores, por meio de pesquisa bibliográfica, assim como foi aplicado um formulário com 19 questões, sobre o comportamento de 20 produtores rurais frente às informações relativas à devolução das embalagens vazias de agrotóxicos. As discussões revelam que cerca de 60% dos respondentes são indiferentes, conhecem muito pouco ou desconhecem sua responsabilidade como primeiro elo da cadeia da logística reversa das embalagens vazias de agrotóxicos, talvez em virtude de falhas no processo de comunicação e na fiscalização. Sugere-se que deva haver maior empenho do Poder Público com vistas a intensificar a fiscalização e tornar mais compreensível as responsabilidades desses agricultores.

The problems of promotion of family values in the Russian mass media were analyzed in the article. Popularization of family values through the media should contribute to strengthening the family institution and become an effective tool in the fight against the demographic crisis. The results of the content analysis confirms that the media neglect of family problems. In this situation, promotion of family values among young people is ineffective.

While human communication is inherently symbolic and thus potentially vague, ambiguous and polyphonic, there is a growing emphasis on certainty, accuracy and consistency in everything contemporary organizations say and do. Organizational messages about corporate values, in particular, are expected to accurately and unambiguously depict the organizational sender "behind" the words. Current communication principles, in other words, seek to reduce or eliminate the polyphonic potential of symbolic communication. In this paper we challenge this trend, arguing that the polyphony of corporate values is valuable because it facilitates change by inviting alternative interpretations and stimulating participation and critique. Lack of accuracy in organizational messages – including inconsistencies between what organizations say and what they do – may be an important driver of organizational and social change, because such differences have potential to raise expectations and apply pressure on organizational actors to improve their practices.

This paper analyzes the role of the public in governance processes in public service media (PSM) in Poland in the post mass-media era, characterized by participatory culture and network practices. Referencing the findings of the "Democratization of media policy in the digital ecosystems" (2014–2015) research project, the study aims to map the effectiveness of existing tools, practices and attitudes toward opening-up Polish public media enterprises to the public. Examination of media regulation, grey literature (corporate documentation, strategies, reports) and civil society initiatives are likely to indicate the ways and extent to which members of the public might currently participate in the decisionmaking
and control. On the basis of hypotheses that public media enterprises in Poland are not fully prepared for the multi-stakeholder and advanced model of PSM, the study takes into account potential systemic/regulatory, organizational
and social barriers for change. The salient questions to be addressed are: What are the strategies and practices through which members of civil society might get involved? At what stages are the publics able to engage? How can PSM take advantage of the development of online tools offering space for interaction and collaboration? How is it possible to make the public more active and interested in governance and participation? (author's abstract)
