International audience ; The sulphate (SO 4 ) released by mineralisation and desorption from soil can play an important role in determining concentrations of SO 4 in streams. The MAGIC model was calibrated for two catchments in the Black Forest, Germany (Schluchsee and Villingen) and SO 4 concentrations in the streams for the years 2016 and 2030 were predicted. Special emphasis was placed on the dynamics of soil sulphur (S) pools. At Schluchsee, 90% of soil S is stored in the organic S (S org ) pool, whereas at Villingen, 54% is in the inorganic (S inorg ) pool. The Villingen stream chemistry was modelled successfully by measured Langmuir isotherm parameters (LIPs) for S inorg . Schluchsee data could not be modelled satisfactorily using measured or freely adapted LIPs only, as the S inorg pool would have to be more than five times larger than what was measured. With 60.5 mmol c SO 4 m -2 yr -1 as internal soil source by mineralisation and the measured LIPs, stream data was modelled successfully. The modelling shows that in these two catchments pre-industrial concentrations of SO 4 in runoff can be reached in the next two decades if S deposition decreases as intended under currently agreed national and international legislation. S org is the most likely dominant source of SO 4 released at Schluchsee. Mineralization from the S org pool must be included when modelling SO 4 concentrations in the stream. As the dynamics and the controlling factors of S release by mineralisation are not yet clear, this process remains a source of uncertainty for predictions of SO 4 concentrations in streams. Future research should concentrate on dynamics of S mineralisation in the field, such that mathematical descriptions of long-term S-mineralisation can be incorporated into biogeochemical models. The GESTCO (GEological STorage of CO2) from fossil fuel combustion project comprises a study of the distribution and coincidence of thermal CO2 emission sources and location\/quality of geological storage capacity in Europe. The GESTCO project is a joint research project conducted by 8 national geological surveys and several industry partners\/end users, partly funded by the European Union 5th Framework Programme for Research and Developmen. Four of the most promising types of geological storage are being studied: 1) onshore\/offshore saline aquifers with or without lateral seal, 2) low entalpy geothermal reservoirs, 3) deep methane-bearing coal beds and abandoned coal and salt mines, and 4) exhausted or near hydrocarbon structures. In this report, we present an inventory of CO2 point sources in Norway (1999) and the results of the work within Study Area C: deep saline aquifers offshore\/near shore Northern and Central Norway. Also offshore\/nearshore Southern Norway has been included, while the Barents Sea is not described in any detail. The most detailed studies are on the Tilje and Åre Formations, on the Trøndelag Platform off Western Mid-Norway, and on the Sognefjord, fensfjord and Krossfjord Formations, southeast of the Troll Field off Western Norway. The Tilje Formation has been chosen as one of the cases to be studied in greater detail (numerical modeling) in the project. This report shows that offshore Norway, there are concentrations of large CO2 point sources in Haltenbanken, the Northern Viking Graben\/Tampen Spur area, the Southern Viking Graben and the Central Trough, while onshore Norway there are concentrations of point sources in the Oslofjord\/Porsgrunn area, along the coast of western Norway, and in Trøndelag. A number of aquifers with large theoretical CO2 storage potential are pointed out in the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea and in the Southern Barents Sea. ; 50057

Since the collectivist period, Vietnamese state is increasingly involved in forest land management. Without prior knowledge of local management practices, state perception of forest evolution presupposes a linear relation between demographic pressure, shifting cultivation development and deforestation. This study, in Cho Don district (Bac Kan province), proposes different readings of vegetal cover organisation and evolution. The first part of the study, qualified as exogenous, is dedicated to human activities impact on forest cover without any consideration of people organisation. The statistical approach at communal scale does not help in determining factors of forest organisation. Spatial analysis at a smaller scale can show the relation existing between population, activities and forest distribution but does not allow a clear understanding of forest cover dynamics. The second part of the study, the endogenous one, is based on local enquiries and focus on social aspect of cover organisation. This approach shows the role of the state in agricultural production and its impact on forest dynamics. In spite of this evolution, the general scheme of cover organisation (in concentric ring) which is at the core of Tày people social organisation, remain the same along the whole period under study. En el presente texto se analiza el proyecto de la Sociedad de la Información tal como ha sido formulado por la Comisión Eu ropea y por la Organización para la Cooperación y el De s a r rollo Ec o n ó m i c o. Como iniciativa política, la llamada Sociedad de la Información está basada en el dominio de las ideas fuerza de la desregulación, la liberalización y la competitividad internacional. En un nivel económico, el proyecto es sostén del modo de desarrollo informacional, en el que la información aparece como el revulsivo productivo medular en las últimas tres décadas. Para realizar el análisis de un proyecto que es al mismo tiempo un proceso social, se propone un marco explicativo articulado por la economía política de la comunicación y se discute tanto el abordaje culturalista como el tecnologista. El artículo sostiene que la Sociedad de la Información no puede ser entendida sino i n s e rta en el contexto de las tensiones y conflictos desencadenados en su desarrollo. ; This text analyses the Information Society Project just the way it has been formulated by the Eu ropean Commission and the Eu ropean Cooperation and De velopment Organisation. As a political initiative, the so-called Information Society is based upon the domain of ideas such as: deregularization force, liberalisation and international competi t i veness. In an economic level, the project supports the informational development way, w h e re information has appeared as a medullary production revulsive in last three decades. In order to pre p a re the analysis of a project that, at the same time, is a social process this text suggests an explanation frame articulated by communication political economy. Whether cultural or technological approaches are discussed. This article affirms that Information Society cannot be understood but implemented into the strain and conflict context caused during its development.

This opus thesis while appearing like a textual monograph, contributes to the political lexis studies of the Revolution using lexicological methods. It focuses especially on particular central words which have many occurrences. Finally, it aims at identifying rhetorical figures and polemical processes, all the while mixing an antagonistic discourse with linguistic comments in a typical dictionary structure. ; Le Nouveau Dictionnaire d'A.Q. Presented is an examination of the relationship between agricultural policies & development by means of a dynamically recursive, computable general equilibrium model applied to Sri Lanka. The static model used employs 15 variables & 15 parameters. The variables are: (1) sectoral gross output, (2) sectoral use of unskilled labor, (3) economy-wide supply of unskilled labor, (4) economy-wide wage for unskilled labor, (5) sectoral factor wages, (6) consumer price indexes by labor & household type, (7) producer price, producer net price, consumer price, & international price, (8) total income & average household expenditure, (9) number of standardized households per consumer group, (10) per capita household sectoral consumption, (11) sectoral exports & imported sectoral private consumption, (12) total government revenue & current expenditure, (13) public savings, (14) exchange rate, & (15) fixed balance of trade surplus international prices. The 15 paramaters are (A) output elasticities, (B) labor effort, (C) supply elasticity for unskilled labor, (D) per household LF participation rate by consumer group, (E) intermediate output coefficients, (F) consumer tax, consumer tariff, & export tax, (G) sectoral wage differentials, (H) share in sectoral factor income by consumer group, (I) savings rate by consumer group, (J) share of sectoral private consumption imported, (K) trade constant & elasticity, (L) subsistence minima for spliced LES, (M) marginal budget shared for rich & poor, (N) government expenditure shares, & (O) sectoral investment demand share. The agricultural policies investigated include elimination of the rice subsidy, elimination of the export tax, land reform, increased investment in agriculture, & technical change in agriculture. The goals considered are the levels & growth rates of GNP & employment, the distribution of income, & the real income level of the lowest income group. The study provides a quantitative assessment of the association between policies & goals. Major focus is on the process of scientific research planning in Nigeria. While scientific research is not a salient political issue, a broad consensus on the principal issues has emerged: (1) research must enjoy strong public support, with the government rather than the private sector providing leadership, (2) research planning must be considered an integral part of national development planning, which concentrates on transforming the economy into higher levels of productivity, (3) scientific research should have an applied orientation, & (4) the view that the social sciences should play a leading role, while technological benefits from research in the natural sciences should be imported, is generally rejected. Relations between academic scientists & government lack mutual confidence; no formal channel of communication exists between the official Nigerian scientific organization & the government's advisory body for national science & technology policy. Scientists are underrepresented in the decision-making bodies of the government, & underrecruited into the civil service. The national science policy machinery is organized in a 3-tiered structure (listed from highest to lowest): (A) the Nigerian Council for Science & Technology (NCST), (B) the 4 research councils--agriculture, industry, medicine, & natural science, & (C) research institutes & U departments. An important role is also played by the Federal Executive Council (the executive arm of the Supreme Military Council) & the secretariat of the NCST. The research councils & secretariat are staffed by experienced professional research scientists, who also have representation on the NCST. A description of the planning process of each of the councils notes that there is no central mechanism for coordinating social research. Although problems exist in the relationship between the U's & the other 2 levels, on the whole, there have been no rivalries between scientific interest groups over the allocation of financial resources. 1 Figure. Fibromyalgia (FM) is a chronic condition characterized by widespread pain of unknown etiology associated with alterations in the central nervous system. Although previous studies demonstrated altered patterns of brain activity during pain processing in patients with FM, alterations in spontaneous brain oscillations, in terms of functional connectivity or microstates, have been barely explored so far. Here we recorded the EEG from 43 patients with FM and 51 healthy controls during open-eyes resting-state. We analyzed the functional connectivity between different brain networks computing the phase lag index after group Independent Component Analysis, and also performed an EEG microstates analysis. Patients with FM showed increased beta band connectivity between different brain networks and alterations in some microstates parameters (specifically lower occurrence and coverage of microstate class C). We speculate that the observed alterations in spontaneous EEG may suggest the dominance of endogenous top-down influences; this could be related to limited processing of novel external events and the deterioration of flexible behavior and cognitive control frequently reported for FM. However, data regarding the suitability of ERP components associated with automatic and involuntary processing of stimuli for this purpose are not conclusive. In the present study, we studied the Mismatch Negativity (MMN) component, a correlate of the automatic detection of changes in the acoustic environment, in healthy adults and adults with aMCI (age range: 50-87 years). An auditory-visual attention-distraction task, in two evaluations separated by an interval of between 18 and 24 months, was used. In both evaluations, the MMN amplitude was significantly smaller in the aMCI adults than in the control adults. In the first evaluation, such differences were observed for the subgroup of adults between 50 and 64 years of age, but not for the subgroup of 65 years and over. In the aMCI adults, the MMN amplitude was significantly smaller in the second evaluation than in the first evaluation, but no significant changes were observed in the control adult group.
