Die Kommunikation von Urteilen im Unterricht. Zwischen der Bildung und der Beurteilung von Urteilen und deren Folgen ; The communication of judgments in the classroom. Between building and evaluating judgments and their consequences
Historisch-politischer Unterricht zielt darauf ab, die Urteilsfähigkeit von Schülern zu fördern. Mit diesem Anspruch sind besondere Herausforderungen bei der Bewertung von Schülerbeiträgen verbunden. In Urteilen werden immer auch Werthaltungen zum Ausdruck gebracht. Die Bewertung von Werthaltungen ist eng mit der Zuschreibung oder Verweigerung von Achtung und Anerkennung verbunden. Im Unterricht kann die Beurteilung von Urteilen daher moralische Konflikte evozieren. Wie diese Konflikte entstehen, welche Dynamiken sie entfalten und wie sie in actu im Unterricht bearbeitet werden, diesen Fragen geht der Beitrag anhand der sequenziellen Rekonstruktion eines Protokollausschnittes aus dem Geschichtsunterricht einer 10. Gymnasialschulklasse zu dem Thema "Hitlers Expansionspolitik in den Osten" nach. Die Befunde zeigen, wie moralische Beurteilungen umschifft werden, ohne auf den Anspruch zu verzichten, das Aneignungsverhalten zu bewerten. Die Lehrerin stellt taktvoll Optionen der Selbstkorrektur bereit, die jedoch nicht verhindern, dass sich die Unterrichtskommunikation moralisch auflädt. Das Urteilen über Urteile scheint gerade im Umgang mit moralisch konnotierten Themen immer das Risiko zu bergen, von den adressierten Schülern auch als Aussage über sie als Person interpretiert zu werden. Specific challenges are connected with this goal that concern the appraising of students' learning performance. The communication of judgments is inextricably bound up with the expression of moral attitudes. Therefore, the evaluation of judgments in in-class communication is accompanied by performative acts of ascribing or denying social respect and recognition. For this reason, the assessment of judgments in school lessons is likely to trigger conflicts in the form of moral discussions. It is the aim of this paper to provide an insight into how these conflicts arise, what kind of dynamics they develop, and how they are dealt with within the in actu social practice of instruction. For this purpose, a sequence of a history lesson is analyzed that has as topic the National Socialist's war of conquest in Eastern Europe. The findings of the case study show how the in-class communication avoids moral judgments not only in its own evaluation operations but also in the stimulation of students' participation without refraining from appraisal. The teacher's reactions offer tactful opportunities for self-correction that still cannot prevent the communication to end up in a moral discussion. In school lessons discussing issues that are connected with moral expectations, the assessment of judgments seems to run a high risk of being misunderstood by the students addressed as personal judgments and, if perceived in this way, to trigger arguments in the classroom.
