Seit der Aufhebung des Verbots der geschäftsmäßigen Förderung der Selbsttötung in Deutschland durch das Bundesverfassungsgericht hat sich ein breiter und multiperspektivischer Diskurs zur Suizidbeihilfe entwickelt. Der Deutsche Ethikrat diskutierte das Recht auf Selbsttötung sowie zur Phänomenologie der Sterbe- und Selbsttötungswünsche bisher in zwei Sitzungen. Die Transkripte dieser Ethikratssitzungen dienen Anna Katharina Kiemer als Untersuchungsgegenstand. Mittels einer systemtheoretischen semantischen Analyse der rechtlichen, medizinischen und ethischen Bezugspunkte zeigt die Autorin das Potenzial einer synchronen Thematisierung der divergierenden Perspektiven und ihrer Kontingenzbewältigungsstrategien auf.

Das Karussell stellt in dreifacher Hinsicht eine Metapher intersubjektiver und intermedialer Ökonomie dar.
