The article presents a competency-based approach to the professional development of Biology students in the process of learning English language by involving students in project work on the example of a study of the selection of roses named after prominent people. The concepts of «competence», «professional competence» and «intercultural competence» were described. The author gives some examples of forming competencies in students (according to Recommendation 2006/962 / EU of the European Parliament and the Council (EU), studying the roses «Emily Bronte» and «William and Catherine» bred by English breeder David Austin.The author points out that the competence of a future Biology teacher is an integrated structure, which is determined by a dynamic combination of general and special competences, which determine the effectiveness of professional activity of a specialist. Presented the outcomes of an investigation whose main goal was to implement the methodology of project work and a process approach in order to form competencies in students. Project-based learning is more than the simple incorporation of a project; it is experiential and meaningful learning and vehicle for fully integrated language and content learning. The author states that project work is a learning experience which seeks to provide students with knowledge from various areas of learning, which can be critically and creatively applied to real life situations. Students are not only learning a language, but are also learning through a language. In other words, this process involves multi-skill activities which focus on a theme of interest rather than on specific language tasks. The author stresses that project work requires an active role in which students are doing authentic and motivational tasks in order to reach a common goal where the language is the means rather than the end since an end-product is not the only goal when implementing project work.

On May 22, 2019, the Pact Act (Action Plan for Business Growth and Transformation) was promulgated by the French Parliament. Long before, during the Entrepreneurship Meeting in 2013, the public authorities had already considered entrepreneurship as an essential source of economic dynamism, and SMEs as a breeding ground for employment. Also, this research is part of the logic of the emergence of "entrepreneurial capitalism".This research focuses more specifically on the creation of businesses by women who represent 40% of entrepreneurs. Despite this, only 10% of women entrepreneurs in this sub-field display growth and job creation strategies. Through their study of their process of exploiting opportunities during their entrepreneurial dynamic, this research work focuses on understanding the global evolution in a longitudinal approach of structures set up by these women. This research shows how culture manifests itself in different ways in organizations and why it occurs when they belong to the same sector and have similar goals and objectives, why is it that, when they are settled in different countries, their culture can be so different from each other, which benefits the same organization differently.The qualitative methodological study was conducted in the company Rockwell Collins- EEMSA, located in Mexicali, B.C. Mexico and in the company Genesem Inc. in Incheon, South Korea. This study consisted of four in-depth interviews, two focus group, , two observation techniques were carried out in each company. For the quantitative approach a questionnaire was designed which was applied to the employees of the two companies. In the company Rockwell Collins- EEMSA Mexicali, it was a questionnaire in Spanish, in the company Genesem in South Korea, it was a questionnaire in English and a questionnaire in Korean. These questionnaires were sent via Google Drive to all employees in the various positions in the organization. In total, there was a sample of 283 between the two companies, the instrument had a total of 55 articles in its Spanish version and 53 articles in its English and Korean version. After receiving the responses to the questionnaires, two types of analysis were performed: Likert data representation, interval and ordinal.As conclusions we can point out that the emotional space has a great impact on the staff and that it can contribute to the working climate and culture, in both organizations it was one of the main topics to be considered by the employees. communication has a wide range of opportunities. Context: COVID-19 has disproportionately impacted mortality in English care homes. Objectives: To examine COVID-19 policies for care homes in England and to describe providers' experiences of those policies in May and June 2020. Methods: Mixed methods including policy analysis and an anonymous online survey of English care home providers, recruited using webinars and WhatsApp groups about their experiences of funding, testing, PPE, isolation and staffing until the end of May and early June 2020. Findings: Although social care policies in England have aligned with those advised by the World Health Organization, they were arguably delayed and were not implemented effectively. Testing had taken place in 70% of care homes surveyed but only 36% of residents had been tested, of whom 16% were positive. Managers were unable to effectively implement isolation policies and reported that workforce and funding support did not always reach them. Guidance changed frequently and was conflicting and could not always be implemented, for example when personal protection equipment was extremely expensive and difficult to source. Limitations: Although this was not a representative sample, care homes responded from across the country and we report the most consistent themes. Potentially, care homes that found it harder to implement national guidance may have been more inclined to respond to our survey than those who more easily changed practice, although those with outbreaks may also have had less capacity to respond. Some aspects of policy will have also changed since early June. Implications: Despite policies that were put in place, care homes amongst our survey respondents were still unable to access sufficient funding, testing, PPE, workforce support and practical support to isolate residents by the end of May and early June. На основі теоретичного аналізу джерел розглядаються історичні передумови, проблеми та механізми реалізації політики монолінгвізму в поліетнічній державі, результат якої спрямований проти культурного різноманіття іммігрантських та міноритарних мов. Зроблено висновок про поведінкову і мовну асиміляцію іммігрантів як неминучу складову культурної асиміляції в домінуюче суспільство в результаті визнання англійської мови мовою рівних можливостей.В статье решается задача осуществления анализа политики монолингвизма в противовес политике билингвизма в языковой политике США. На основе теоретического анализа источников рассматриваются исторические предпосылки, проблемы и механизмы реализации политики монолингвизма в полиэтническом государстве, результат которой направлен против культурного многообразия иммигрантских и миноритарных языков. Сделан вывод о поведенческой и языковой ассимиляции иммигрантов как неизбежной составляющей культурной ассимиляции в доминирующее общество в результате признания английского языка языком равных возможностей.The article analyzes the monolingualism policy opposed to the policy of bilingualism in the language policy of the United States. The author considers the historical background, issues and implementation mechanisms of the monolingualism policy in the multiethnic state, the result of which is directed against cultural diversity and immigrant minority languages. The article defines sources of English monolingualism ideology, racial hostility of majority toward minority, ethnic conflict between the minorities, class antagonism of socioeconomic groups at a lower level of welfare; political negative reaction of bilingualism opponents; negative attitude to everything that is foreign. The author presents arguments and counterarguments used by bilingualism supporters and linguistic diversity in the United States. Federal policy bilingual education is compared with the American melting pot. Behavioral and linguistic assimilation of immigrants is presented as an inevitable component of cultural assimilation into the dominant society resulting from the recognition of English as the language of equal opportunities.

BACKGROUND: The national competency assessment (NCA) is a strategy with the objective of creating a competent, motivated, adaptable and innovative workforce in Ethiopia. However, of all the students that had taken the NCA, below average students had passed the assessment in the study settings. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the level of academic achievements of health extension students (HESs) and identify the influencing factors that contribute to the failure of HESs on NCA in the study settings. METHODS: An institution-based cross-sectional study complemented with qualitative methods was conducted from 18th to 27th January 2019 of a sample of 186 level III health extension students in Regional Health Science Colleges. A self-administered structured questionnaire and focus group discussion guiding tool were used to collect the data. The data were checked for completeness, coded and entered into EPI info version 7.1.0 and exported to SPSS version 20 for analysis. Bivariate logistic regression analysis was done to assess the association between each independent variable and the outcome variable with p<0.25. Multivariable analysis was done to control the influence of potential confounding variables and to identify influencing factors. The significant level was declared at p<0.05. RESULTS: A total of 186 study subjects were involved in the study with a response rate of 100%. Of the total participants, only 31.7% of students passed the national competency assessment. After adjusting for covariates, fathers' education level, fathers' occupation, and students' English language understanding were significantly associated with the passing of the NCA. CONCLUSION: Students' competency in the NCA is below average. Therefore, the health science colleges should give due attention to the inclusion of the English language as a unit of competency. OBJECTIVES: Recommendations of the recent mental health reforms provided an opportunity to implement regional approaches to service provision through Primary Health Networks. This study is designed to identify the determinants of sociodemographic, diagnostic and referral-level factors and first treatment session non-attendance among those referred to primary mental health care (PMHC) services in Western Sydney, Australia. DESIGN: This study used routinely collected retrospective PMHC data between July 2016 and December 2018. SETTING: The study was based on a geographical catchment that covers four local government areas of Blacktown, Parramatta, Cumberland and Hills Shire in Western Sydney, Australia. PARTICIPANTS: All individuals 5 years of age or older referred to PMHC services. PRIMARY OUTCOME MEASURE: First treatment session non-attendance, following a referral to receive psychological treatments. RESULTS: There were 9158 referrals received for 8031 clients, with 1769 (19.32%) referrals resulting in non-attendance to the first treatment session. Those with younger age (ORs ranging from 1.63 to 1.92), substance use (OR=1.55, 95% CI 1.17 to 2.06), poor English proficiency (OR=1.64, 95% CI 1.23 to 2.20), lower socioeconomic status (OR=1.57, 95% CI 1.34 to 1.83), psychotropic medication use (OR=1.20, 95% CI 1.06 to 1.36), and a referral by a social worker (OR=2.04, 95% CI 1.36 to 3.05), allied health (OR=1.49, 95% CI 1.03 to 2.16) or other professional (OR=1.72, 95% CI 1.30 to 2.29) were associated with a higher likelihood of first treatment session non-attendance. Those with a risk of suicide, who mainly speak a language other than English, and a previous use of PMHC services were more likely to attend their first treatment session. Reading Brexit through BrexLit is a dissertation centred on the 2016 referendum on British exit from the European Union and on Brexit Literature ('BrexLit'). The thesis focuses on the relation between Englishness and the Leave vote, analysing themes and images at the core of the Brexit campaign in parallel with selected literary works published both before and after the political outcome, and on the impact of the referendum on literature itself. After an introduction that serves as a framework, the work is divided into three different sections. The first one is dedicated to an analysis of Brexit from a political point of view, outlining global tendencies and British peculiarities that influenced the vote and explaining Brexit as an English (more than British) phenomenon. The second section moves from the political aspects of the study to the literary ones, showing that Brexit themes are to be found in contemporary fictions published before the referendum and focusing on two novels that are particularly concerned both with the structures of feeling at the core of the campaign and with English identity: Speak for England (2005) by James Hawes and The White Family (2002) by Maggie Gee. The third and last section introduces the reader to Brexit Literature ('BrexLit), which is a new sub-genre that has flourished from the referendum onwards. The section looks at the main characteristics of the sub-genre, distinguishing between two main categories of BrexLit fictions: political and intimate novels. This sections ends with the close reading of two BrexLit novels published in 2018, Perfidious Albion by Sam Byers and Middle England by Jonathan Coe, which are the most representative in relation to the two categories mentioned above and in the way they engage, as the novels of the previous section, with the structures of feeling exploited in Brexit discourse.

The linguistic analysis of anthems of football clubs is a growing area of linguistic research. This paper therefore contributes significantly to literature on the linguistic analysis of anthems of football clubs by exploring the rivalry ties between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona through the prism and lens of the translated English language versions of their anthems. The study examines how stylistic devices are used to project, construct and reflect various themes in the anthems of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona towards deepening the rivalry ties between them. The study is underpinned by the linguistic and stylistic categories framework by Leech and Short (2007). The translated English versions of the anthems of Real Madrid and Barcelona are sourced from the official websites of the clubs. The findings of the study show that stylistic devices such as repetition, co-referencing, metaphors, personification, and parallelism are aesthetically used in the anthems to project the themes of identity, solidarity, resilience and praises in order to further deepen the rivalry ties between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona especially during El Clásicos. The theme of solidarity is dominantly projected stylistically to present FC Barcelona as a club that calls for internal solidarity in order to champion its Catalonian ideologies while Real Madrid is projected as a club that seeks to establish external solidarity through canvasing for a worldwide fun base. The findings of the study would help fans and players of the two clubs and all lovers of football to better appreciate the content of the lyrics in the anthems. The study concludes that, the rivalry between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona is not only sourced from political and historical antecedents but can equally be sourced from anthems of the clubs since these anthems encode the ideologies of the clubs.

In 1802, a third English translation of Volney's Ruines; ou, méditation sur les révolutions des empires, a work already popular among English-speaking radicals and freethinkers, appeared in Paris. The anonymous translators of the work were none other than Thomas Jefferson and Joel Barlow. Barlow's name surfaced in 1819 whereas Jefferson's did not until the early twentieth century. The fact that Jefferson secretly contributed to the third translation of LesRuines as well as to its circulation in the United States is an aspect of his career which, while it has not been ignored, has not been given adequate attention. The essay fleshes out knowledge of Volney and Jefferson's friendship, traces out the story of the translation, and explores the reasons for the success of Ruins in the young United States, shedding light on the networking which allowed radical Enlightenment ideas to infuse American culture. ; En 1802 parut à Paris une troisième traduction des Ruines; ou, méditation sur les révolutions des empires de Volney, oeuvre déjà bien connue des radicaux et des libres penseurs anglophones. The Indian subcontinent (which includes India, but also states bordering Pakistan to the west, Bangladesh to the east, Nepal and Bhutan to the north, and Sri Lanka and the Maldives to the south) is an area where literary is cohesive, protracted and even fed into history, politics and society, since its first formulations in the second millennium of JC. Although the French editorial landscape gives great weight to modernity, which is itself a foisonant and, moreover, largely diasporic, it is a reflection, whether voluntary or not, of sometimes millennial traditions, rich as well as iconoclastes. A few clarifications are therefore not unnecessary. Multilingualism European comparison is not inappropriate, although it largely minimises the contemporary Indian linguistic reality: the Indian Constitution recognises 2 national languages, 22 official languages and more than 400 minority languages, some of which (such as bhojpuri or rajasthani) have tens of millions of speakers. As per Human Development Index of 2019 report, India is in the 129th rank. Nearly 28% of the Indian population lives below the poverty line. As per another report from The Lancet journal on healthcare index, India is in 154th position among the 195 countries. According to India's Annual Status of Education Report 2017, 14% of children in the age group of 14-18 are not enrolled in any school system. Education, health and living standards are the primary factors to measure the quality of life in any social settings. Giving this grim view of social conditions in India, the role of public institutions as well as individual members' are crucial in lending adequate support to the society to enhance the standings of living conditions. According to a study published in 2011, only 2% of news space were being given to the issues pertinent to development by the leading Indian national newspapers. Many news stories in these 2%, might have appeared due to 'Coups and earthquakes syndrome' type of events that contained news values of death, disease and disaster. From the perspective of Sustainable Development Goals, the participatory approach of individuals is more meaningful in order to achieve the stated 17 goals as well as 169 targets. Apart from the government's initiative for the SDGs and substantial fundings from the donor agencies, awareness about the SDGs is essential and ideal for the bottom-up approach towards achieving the development goals and its targets by 2030.
