The purpose of this research is to analyze the problem of incompliance of the minimum living wage (MLW) and the subsistence level. The consumer baskets of the Moscow residents and Europeans are compared. The MLW in Russia and countries of the Eurozone is aligned. Social aspects of raising the MLW to the level of the subsistence level are considered. Positive and negative consequences are formulated. The dynamics of the MLW and subsistence level are studied in detail. The factors influencing the quality of the population's life are regulated. Positive and negative consequences of raising the MLW are formulated. Conclusions about the quality of the Russian population's life are made. The article is based on a comprehensive study of regulatory and legislative documents that establish the MLW amount, the subsistence level, the consumer basket, as well as on studying the works of national and foreign researchers. ; peer-reviewed

This paper addresses the current situation of the left in Spain (excluding traditional social democracy) and its future prospects. Since the so-called 15-M movement of May 2011 and the subsequent creation of Podemos ('We Can'), there has been a perceived possibility of the overcoming the neoliberal offensive and the so-called regime of 1978, the political structure of the last decades. However, it is argued here that the rise of this 'new left' does not necessarily imply a strengthening of the subject of transformation, the labour movement, nor the political framework for achieving social rights in the future.

The Indian Supreme Court is widely seen as a vanguard of progressive social change. Yet there are no systematic studies of whether its progressive decisions actually improve the lives of the relatively disadvantaged. This book presents the first collection of original empirical studies on the impact of the Indian Supreme Court's most progressive decisions. Combining original datasets with in-depth qualitative research, the chapters provide a rigorous examination of the conditions under which judicial decisions can make a difference to those in need. These studies reveal that the Indian Supreme Court, like its US counterpart, is largely constrained in its efforts. Yet, through the broad sweep of constitutional rights in the Indian Constitution, the Court's procedural innovations, and its institutional independence, the Indian Supreme Court can sometimes make a difference - in the lives of those most in need.
