The Indian Supreme Court is widely seen as a vanguard of progressive social change. Yet there are no systematic studies of whether its progressive decisions actually improve the lives of the relatively disadvantaged. This book presents the first collection of original empirical studies on the impact of the Indian Supreme Court's most progressive decisions. Combining original datasets with in-depth qualitative research, the chapters provide a rigorous examination of the conditions under which judicial decisions can make a difference to those in need. These studies reveal that the Indian Supreme Court, like its US counterpart, is largely constrained in its efforts. Yet, through the broad sweep of constitutional rights in the Indian Constitution, the Court's procedural innovations, and its institutional independence, the Indian Supreme Court can sometimes make a difference - in the lives of those most in need.

Beyond Globalization highlights how mediated practices have become integral to global culture; how social practices have emerged out of computer-related industries; how contemporary apocalyptic narratives reflect the anxieties of a U.S. culture facing global challenges; and how design, play, and technology help us understand the histories and ideals behind the digital architectures that mediate our everyday actions. This provocative volume brings together the best new work of scholars within such diverse fields as history, sociology, anthropology, film, media studies, and art

The systems transdisciplinary model of spatial unit of order occupies a Central place among other models of the systems transdisciplinary approach. This model demonstrates the structure of potency of objects, which gives it the ability to expediently manifest and transform. This circumstance inextricably connects space, information and time. To prove this connection, the article uses two models of a spatial unit of the order. This is an analogue of the static and dynamic systems transdisciplinary model of spatial unit of order. On the example of the first model, the grounds for the appropriate manifestation of potency are described. On the example of the second model, the grounds for an appropriate transformation of potency are described. The author illustrates the practical possibilities of these models by the example of solving fundamental problems of Microbiology, chemistry, astrophysics, and political geography. The examples given in the article show that the basis of sustainable development of modern society can be based on the natural mechanism of self-organization of an object and functional ensembles of objects. This conclusion formed the basis of technologies for managing the state of natural, man-made and social objects, as well as methods for analyzing the risk of their complex interaction.

"This book provides comparative, multi-disciplinary research on the surplus food distribution in Europe and its relation to food poverty, with a focus on the interaction of for-profit and non-profit organisations. It offers an informed and rich discussion in understanding the collaboration between profit and non-profit organisations involved in food recovery dynamics, and provides understanding as to how the two types of players create effective, innovative and sustainable processes. Building on sociology, food justice, and sustainable management fields, the book will be of interest to a diverse range of scholars, policy makers and practitioners inspiring innovation in how to address food poverty through surplus food recovery"--

In this article the authors of the Information Security Concept of the Republic of Belarus regard its provisions as important elements in the bases for the further formation and strengthening of the sovereign Belarusian state. Due to the novelty of relations arising in the information sphere, it is exposed to increased vulnerability to risks, challenges and threats that are transported to all other spheres of public life. The problem of information security ensuring is becoming one of the most important issues in the realization of balanced interests of individual, society and the state.
