This qualitative study investigates stances in reflective interviews to identify cultural patterns that shape the meaning of language choice within an international unit of an EU institution in Luxembourg. We employ the analytical concept of "language cringe" and propose a complementary concept, "language push," to showcase the effects and reproduction of language ideologies in day-to-day talk about languages at work. Our analysis reveals that, within a workplace culture that encourages flexible and convivial use of multiple languages, French speakers have to deal with the effects of the "logic of honour," which is culturally associated with the use of French in France. Based on our findings, we suggest that language choice should be considered a cross cultural dimension in multilingual environments, and that language-sensitive management scholarship should broaden its considerations beyond the traditional issues of language proficiency, namely by inspecting relational and affective factors that shape language use in multilingual workplaces.

The sectors of transport and energy are at a turning point, which is generated by various factors such as climate change, population growth and its reliance on classic fuels , the necessity of access to modern energy services for the rural population. The solution would be widespread use of renewable sources in final consumption and in transport. Based on these considerations , the authors aim to present their analysis of the situation of the EU market for biofuels and bioliquids. On the one hand, the use of biomass ensures a sustainable approach to energy consumption, but, on the other hand, it raises the issue of food security.

Abstract Intensification of animal production and the increase of production scale cause problems in the scope of environmentally safe by-product management. The purpose of the present analysis is to discuss the rules concerning by-product management and presentation of by-product balance under the conditions of restricted usage of meat and bone meal in the feedstuff industry. By-product processing takes place in authorized plants. As few as 11 entities have the right to process materials of all categories. 3rd category material makes up the largest part of all animal by-products, and in 2010 it amounted to over 615,000 tons, of which meat and bone meal made up for 147,000 tons and fat for 67,000 tons.

This article presents results from a qualitative analysis of religious and gender-specific 'othering' in Austrian and French media discourse on Turkey's accession to the EU (2004–2006). A typology of arguments justifying inclusion and exclusion of Turkey from Europe or the EU is presented, and gender-specific othering is placed in the context of differing national discourses about Europe and diverging visions of secularisation and citizenship. Secondly, various topoi of orientalism are reconstructed which play a crucial role in both national corpora, and it is shown how various historically shaped discourses of alterity intersect and produce gendered images of cultural and religious otherness.
